    I’m on Whole30. No processed food, no added sugar, no dairy, no caffeine, no bread/rice, no fried foods. I am definitely feeling good and my body is now getting its energy naturally. My skin has cleared up and I don’t wake up bloated ever. I wake up refreshed.

      @@Maximum_9573 I eat eggs for breakfast, maybe with some avocado or turkey bacon/sausage. For lunch sometimes I have chicken adobo (made with coco aminos instead of soy sauce) with cauliflower rice. I also like to make a sweet potato shepherds pie (can find recipes online). I use sweet potatoes in many of the dishes I make. But mostly chicken, fish, ground beef, ground turkey. Lots of veggies and also I have a fruit bowl that I prepare in advance for when I have a sweet craving with various fruits. Whole 30 is great but it does take some preparation. If you look up Whole30 on Google they actually do have a website with lots of recipes. Which I actually didn’t know the first time I did it a few months back. Good luck.

      Is that a sustainable diet for the long haul? My understanding is that it isn't. This is why it is usually done over a 30 day period-- and not indefinitely.

    • @ms.rivera7898
      @ms.rivera7898 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@pkp6791 it is an elimination diet. To see what causes stomach irritation, bloating, skin problems, inflammation, sugar crashes, etc. Once done, you slowly, one by one, start adding foods back to your diet. If it causes stomach distress, bloating, inflammation, then you have an idea of what that is, and you can make your choice there to continue eating in the future, or keep it out of your diet for good.

    Can confirm that tofu is, in fact, less than $2. Prefer it over the look of quinoa. If you're making soup for 2 people it is a great option. Even lower cost per meal than chicken tenderloin and easier to flavor it how you want. Us westerners tend to sleep on it but maybe we should include it more. Which tenderness of tofu is best for soups by the way? From what I recall it was firm as it held it's shape but want to be sure I am not confusing it with extra firm.

    • @beabchill
      @beabchill 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Extra firm is better and it’s recommended to squeeze out the excess water for a few minutes so it can 1) help it main it’s firmness and not fall apart when added to soups 2) it will create space/craters for the soup flavors to be absorbed

    Great advice! I've been eating this way for several years now and losT over 80 lbs! Never hungry during the day if I am grab a piece of fruit! With resistance training and about 5 hours of bicycling a week I have the best energy since my 30s! For breakfast i eat lentils mixed with oatmeal on top of a bed of greens with 2 cups of berries and soy milk! So full of energy for at least 6 hours of energy! It took me about a year too get my calories perfected. I noticed as I lost weight I needed less calories daily to sustain my energy. Plus my blood sugars became more consistent I never got on medication which the doctor recommended. Tried keto to first I didn't like the way I felt or my cholesterol no.s so ultimately whole food plant based was my final choice! For me it worked because I liked too eat a lot and within 2 weeks my energy soared and my blood sugars dropped below 100 reading for the first time since i was diagnosed!Thankyou for this content there are so many out there need this info!

    I have definitely had to increase protein intake in my postmenopausal years to maintain same muscle mass. My exercise routine has remained the same. Fortunately, I did not pack on the pounds or bloat out after menopause. It IS easier to gain weight, but easier to control if one goes INTO menopause at their optimal weight and health status. This is a bit of advice for young premenopausal women.

      Wow! Great. You can cube it and sear it with some cooking oil. It will splatter. If you freeze it and then defrost it, you can get the water out and it’s crisper. You can also crumble it up like minced meat and dry it up first before you add seasoning. Or you can add that to spaghetti sauce. You can also eat it cold like a salad. Or put it in a blender pulverize it with dates and spices and nuts, seeds etc and use it like a batter. It’s really flavorless but very versatile.

However if the goal is to eat protein and micronutrients and reduce inflammation, fat, weight loss and blood sugar, there are much healthier sources of food such as lentils and beans.

    What are your thoughts on the PB2 low fat peanut powder? It is a processed food but might help people who eat peanut butter make the transition to a more low fat version of the peanut butter. There is an organic version with no added sugar, salt or oil. So you just add water to the powder and it turns into a texture similar to peanut butter but way less fat.

      Buy your beans dry, soak them over night in water, discard the soaking water and cook the beans with fresh water in a pressure cooker like an Instant Pot to drastically reduce the lectin content.
      Everyone is different. Try different diets and pay attention to how you feel especially in the long term. Whatever works for you is what works. Discard any diet advice that doesn't serve you and don't let anyone convince you to stay on a diet that is ruining your health. For example, I made that mistake with the keto diet. It messed up my hormones and I ended up pretty much hemorrhaging while on my period. I had plenty of signs before I woke up in a puddle of my own blood that the keto diet was a trash diet for me personally, so yeah, listen to your body before things go really wrong.

    Plus I heard too much fruit isn’t good! As you said it contains too much sugar. But certainly fruit juice is very bad for you.
    Also, aren’t potato’s full of starch which turns into sugar? I didn’t know they have any substantial protein??
    These are all things that are counter to a ton of other health professional’s opinion I’ve heard…strange.

    • @Healthyimmunedoc
      @Healthyimmunedoc  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      Tofu/soy is greatly misunderstood by countries who don’t eat it as a staple food. It has phytoestrogens which do not act like mammalian estrogens. They are beneficial and protective when consumed in moderated amounts. Yes. Lots of misinformation from people who don’t eat soy. But Asians have been eating soy for thousands of years and still hold the world record for longest lived cultures in the world outliving by almost 20 years western countries who don’t eat soy.
      Dairy products account for 3/4 of how western countries get exposed to female hormones like estrogen and then meats and eggs account for the rest of the estrogen exposure in western diets.
      dairy is breast milk with natural estrogens fed to to grow calves to 400 pounds. But people don’t seem to worry about that. 🤷🏻‍♀️
      If you ate whole fruit, it’s hard to eat too much as the fiber and water would fill you up. Plus it would prevent you from eating other foods and you’ll feel bloated and be going to the bathroom. Most people aren’t eating like that. Anyone eating predominantly fruit diet…fruitarians are likely missing nutrients. This is true with any restrictive diet. No food has everything necessary for health and longevity. Diversity is key.
      Juice…
      it takes 3 apples for a cup of juice. I am full after eating 3 apples and my stomach doesn’t have room to add more food. However most people drink a cup of juice and eat a full meal. It’s always easier to drink calories than it is to chew and hence if you eat unprocessed Whole Foods it’s always healthier compared to processed.
