      Almost had it right. She wasn't saying that the bruschetta is healthy. She was talking about the dip. It sounds like the dip would make a delicious salad dressing. I might even mix it with hummus ( I've been a hummus for decades. ) I haven't seen her videos. i'm definitely going to subscribe! The best part of it, is that her recipes didn't require to much prep, cooking, and most of all clean up time. Recipes are easy to understand& don't have too many ingredients. Also you don'tneed to go shopping for special items. ,

    Ive been fasting for the last 6 months with a 6 hour feeding window. I can absolutely do this forever. I have lost 35 lbs in the last year and now the only difficulty is to stop losing weight. If I don't focus on getting 2000 calories (my average daily burn) in my 6 hour window I will continue to lose weight.

    • @denasellsKC
      @denasellsKC 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Did you lose the 35 pounds when you were in the 6 months fasting? Only asking bc I'm having trouble losing weight with the fasting blocked times. I lost 19lbs on a water fast of 10 days but on days 8,9 &10, I was extremely weak which is why I broke my fast. Any info would be highly appreciated

    • @homomorphic
      @homomorphic 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @denasellsKC Yes, I lost 30 of the 30lbs while fasting, but I am fasting for 18 hours every day and in continuous ketosis.I have done a couple of extended fasts, but that's for autophagy not weight loss. The weight loss is all due to the combination of low carb food when I do eat and the 18 hours of fasting every day.
      My genotype is lean mass, and so that 35 lbs was almost all visceral fat, and thus extremely important to remove. My genotype has essentially no subcutaneous fat. Subcutaneous fat is not a health concern like visceral fat is.

    • @farhat5325
      @farhat5325 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      If you don't hit your macros for the day probably should extend the feeding window for an extra meal (for the days that you get busy and forgot to eat that is ofcourse)... you probably should (if not already) do some resistance training to maintain muscle and strength.

    • @homomorphic
      @homomorphic 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@farhat5325 yup, definitily doing resistance and some HIIT to maintain muscle. I can hit the macros in the 6 hours, I was just pointing out that I have to intentionally try to get enough of those macros. If i didn't consciously make an effort to get enough protein and fat during the window I would continue to lose weight :-)

    Here's the question that I've had for a long time but not one that's readily answered: If apples have been warehoused for between 9 to 12 months, how does that affect their nutritional value? What about other warehoused fruits and vegetables? If we could all walk out into the orchards and gardens and pick and immediately eat our food that would be one thing. So, to me, the most critical question is, how do commercial practices affect the nutritional and fiber content of our vegetables and fruits?
    Another issue I have is with sodium: When I was young, I could go on a fruit fast for 10 days without any negative ramifications. However, I'm now in my 70s and that's impossible without supplementing with three-quarter teaspoons of salt daily. I've experienced hyponatremia twice and the symptoms are absolutely awful. Older men and women should make sure their bodies are receiving the minimum amount of sodium if they're eating products with no added salts (fruits and vegetables). Believe me, all it takes is to go through sodium deficiency just once or twice to terrify you.

      Do you exercise? Building muscle is a must. The doc has a video explaining why. Weight loss happens as the metabolism improves and our body becomes more efficient.

      You can try apple cider vinegar pills or get the liquid with “the mother” (unfiltered). Stay way from antacids, as they will relax the valve at the top of the stomach. 2T ACV, 1T lime juice, 2-4 T water or organic cranberry juice/Pom/concord. The acids will contract the valve and will naturally help you complete the digestive process.

    I love this channel, but I would like to see some real world choices for these foods that doesn't require as much cooking. I get that's part of the problem, but if you can recommend read-made products for some of these things, it will help us super busy folks with large households. I DO understand ready-made products tend to have more processed ingredients, but perhaps there are some out there with minimal processing.

    Dear Doctor,
    “Bruschetta” is an Italian for the tomato topping (from Tuscany). Most people mispronounce it: brushetta which is wrong.
    It is pronounced:
    Brusketta.
    In Italian SCEMA is shema,
    while SCHEMA is skema.
    B-R-U-S-K-E-T-T-A (phonetic)

    How do you feel about MSG as a salt substitute? Does that cause the same issue?
    Coming from a Brazilian family, my diet has always been high in salt. My American contemporaries always complain about how I salt the food I make for them. Yet I have never heard of hypertension as being a big issue in Brazil (I could be wrong, just to date I haven’t heard about it). As far as I know no one in the Brazilian side of my family has hypertension. In fact we’re pretty thin too.

      Absolutely everybody has a different sensitivity to insulin. There’s nothing wrong with an elevated blood sugar as long as it corrects within two hours. Blood sugar is a symptom of carbohydrate intolerance, which is not the same as the cause of carbohydrate intolerance. Fatty liver, visceral, fat, and fat in the muscles and muscle wasting are all contributors to carbohydrate intolerance. When you fix the root cause, you will improve your tolerance to carbohydrates. The best thing to do if blood sugars are elevated after eating is to walk.

      @Diosesdepapel. I don’t know about never eating anything anything coming out of the microwave. This doctor is talking about snacks, or food quickly prepared. I would think that eating a sweet potato coming out of the microwave is healthier than eating a bag of potato chips, made with sunflower oil.

    Thank you for this video. Does blending frozen banana or frozen sweet potato into a nice cream cause it to be higher in calories and higher in available sugar too?

    • @Healthyimmunedoc
      @Healthyimmunedoc  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Yes. that work of blending takes away the work to make your body do. Plus, the fiber matrix is destroyed. However, if you aren't into maximizing burning calories, they are both still considered low calorie foods compared to processed foods. The problem arises when people add more calories like refined sugar and pure fat.

    I rarely snack, I just don't often feel the need. I eat three wholefood meals a day and generally I don't feel hungry in between. I've battled with my weight all my life, so I am very interested and well-informed about healthy eating.
    On the other hand, my husband, who eats exactly the same meals as I do, frequently sneaks off to the kitchen for snacks. It seems he's always hungry! Before I met him, he was addicted to sweet trashy biscuits. I have spent years educating him out of his unhealthy habits. He is naturally thin so he spent most of his life thinking he could get away with eating whatever rubbish took his fancy. Now he finally realises that's wrong. We don't have biscuits in the house. I encourage him to snack on nuts instead.
    We are now in our 60s and want to be healthy in our older years. We are eating better than ever, and are not taking statins or any of the other medication that people of our age typically take. I firmly believe that "We are what we eat".
