Fresh or frozen blueberries, whole apples, sweet potatoes, banana 🍌, baked beans, nuts, hummus, carrots🥕
Vinegar, bruschetta
Almost had it right. She wasn't saying that the bruschetta is healthy. She was talking about the dip. It sounds like the dip would make a delicious salad dressing. I might even mix it with hummus ( I've been a hummus for decades. ) I haven't seen her videos. i'm definitely going to subscribe! The best part of it, is that her recipes didn't require to much prep, cooking, and most of all clean up time. Recipes are easy to understand& don't have too many ingredients. Also you don'tneed to go shopping for special items. ,
Eggs and meat!
If I snack all day long I will feel tired and sluggish. I am a true believer of intermittent fasting. I have more energy and feel good. I don’t think we were made to graze throughout the day. I eat protein, fruits, and vegetables. I avoid processed foods.
Fresh frozen blueberries from Trader Joe’s are sweet and offer a great complement to hot oatmeal with sliced bananas
@parrishwien. I actually buy the organic wild blueberries from Trader Joe’s. Wild blueberries have less sugar and taste less starchy. Delicious!!! 😋
All carbs.
Great video. Appreciate that you omitted the sound effects. My ears thank you.
I have been fasting everyday for almost 5 years. I’m 69 years young ( look like 50 years old) and my doctor says I’m very healthy and have maintained my 47 pound loss. 👍🏼 Fasting is really for your Health and the Bonus is Weight Loss. Works for me!
1 ingredient foods are always the best 🍇🍈🍉🍊🍋🍌🍍🥭🥝🫐🍓🍒🍑🍐🍏🍎 garden foods make me feel better than farm foods..Thanks for sharing ❤😊
Ive been fasting for the last 6 months with a 6 hour feeding window. I can absolutely do this forever. I have lost 35 lbs in the last year and now the only difficulty is to stop losing weight. If I don't focus on getting 2000 calories (my average daily burn) in my 6 hour window I will continue to lose weight.
Did you lose the 35 pounds when you were in the 6 months fasting? Only asking bc I'm having trouble losing weight with the fasting blocked times. I lost 19lbs on a water fast of 10 days but on days 8,9 &10, I was extremely weak which is why I broke my fast. Any info would be highly appreciated
@denasellsKC Yes, I lost 30 of the 30lbs while fasting, but I am fasting for 18 hours every day and in continuous ketosis.I have done a couple of extended fasts, but that's for autophagy not weight loss. The weight loss is all due to the combination of low carb food when I do eat and the 18 hours of fasting every day.
My genotype is lean mass, and so that 35 lbs was almost all visceral fat, and thus extremely important to remove. My genotype has essentially no subcutaneous fat. Subcutaneous fat is not a health concern like visceral fat is.
If you don't hit your macros for the day probably should extend the feeding window for an extra meal (for the days that you get busy and forgot to eat that is ofcourse)... you probably should (if not already) do some resistance training to maintain muscle and strength.
@@farhat5325 yup, definitily doing resistance and some HIIT to maintain muscle. I can hit the macros in the 6 hours, I was just pointing out that I have to intentionally try to get enough of those macros. If i didn't consciously make an effort to get enough protein and fat during the window I would continue to lose weight :-)

Love your videos!
Thank you!
Thanks Dr. good information ☘️🌱🌴🌼👍
Love it! Some much great information ! Bonuses with inclusion of recipe 😋 to try!
Thank you for your kind words.
Thank you for adding recipes!! I love this channel
Thank you for your kind words.
Appreciate your content!👍🏾
Great advise. I can do this!
You can put potatoes in a bowl in the microwave like a few holes as you said then add a bit of water in the bowl. I found this to make it cook even quicker and better
Good tip!
Will you please do a video about how much protein we should eat.
I really love your videos...they are super clear. Thank you.
❤🎉This is the only program that deserves 5 million an episode 🎉
Very informative thank you so much 🎉
Thank you for these awesome tips!! Please keep sharing healthy tip for cooking 😊
Thank you for your kind words.
I watched a video of yours about 10 days ago. Thank you. You have given me the reasons behind the choices you recommend. You have changed my life. I have tears in my eyes as I write this. Thank you.
Please elaborate ...which video, and how did it help you? I want to change my life as well. Thank you.🙏
Thank you for the info ❤
Thank you, doctor so much for the gift of good information.
Thank you SO MUCH!
Thank you for this great video
New subscriber here. Your advice is just what I’m looking for! I’m a 57 year old RN, heart attack survivor of 10 years, diabetic, fatty liver, post VSG surgery for weight loss of 8 mos. I have lost only 40lbs . I’m 240lbs.
I’m struggling with fatigue, hunger, frequent resp infections.
I’m told to eat more protein, low carb, low fat. That has translated to protein shakes and high protein “snacks”. This is wrong. I need to feed myself what I’m craving , which are beans , nuts and veggies. Thank you for your content. It’s so simple and explains nutrition in a way I can understand.
Thanks for this. 😊
You can definitely eat regular potato skin though.
you got this! don't give up!
Check out Dr. Brooke Goldner, maybe her videos will help you.
The high protein/low carb advice that is so prevalent these days left me weak and sick. Since I have shifted to the way of eating as described in the video has made my energy soar, alleviated depression and caused me to lose weight nearly effortlessly. It's like my cells are breathing a sigh of relief, ha.
Thank you so much. New Subscriber.
Great advice!
This is terrific, thank you. You have the most stunningly beautiful skin
What a great video, bravo!!! I love all your videos. I am a retired RN and woke up to the lies about food when COVID hit. (And the lies about so much more!). That you Doctor for helping humanity survive this ascension. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🏻🙏🏻💫
Thank you Doc .
You are very welcome. 😊
Though I understand why it is better to eat fruits and vegetables as unprocessed as possible, I still like to bake. Please discuss the effects of temperature on flavonoids and polyphenols. Thank you for what you do.
**eyeballs the box of fresh blueberries sitting on the corner of the desk...& smiles**
New subbie here love this content. Trying to be healthier and I love to snack.
Very helpful
Thanks ❤
Very good point
Thank you very much for your valuable information ♥👍👍
Here's the question that I've had for a long time but not one that's readily answered: If apples have been warehoused for between 9 to 12 months, how does that affect their nutritional value? What about other warehoused fruits and vegetables? If we could all walk out into the orchards and gardens and pick and immediately eat our food that would be one thing. So, to me, the most critical question is, how do commercial practices affect the nutritional and fiber content of our vegetables and fruits?
Another issue I have is with sodium: When I was young, I could go on a fruit fast for 10 days without any negative ramifications. However, I'm now in my 70s and that's impossible without supplementing with three-quarter teaspoons of salt daily. I've experienced hyponatremia twice and the symptoms are absolutely awful. Older men and women should make sure their bodies are receiving the minimum amount of sodium if they're eating products with no added salts (fruits and vegetables). Believe me, all it takes is to go through sodium deficiency just once or twice to terrify you.
Use yogurt (plain Greek) instead of Tahini in Hummus, if you are sensitive to sesame seeds. Celery is terrific with Hummus.
Best to stay away from anything made with mom cows breast milk. Not only dies it entail unconscionable cruelty towards moms and babies but casein is terrible for human health
Wonderful information.
Loved the inclusion of recipes. Thank you for your videos, I am getting a lot out of them. Good health to you.
Love tahini, so hold the cilantro, and Garbanzo beans are the high level of delish!
This month, along with my regular foods, I've eaten 1 large ube, 5 pounds of bananas, 4 bags of frozen blueberries and blackberries and a bag of red delicious apples but I've now lost another 10 pounds since December.
Do you exercise? Building muscle is a must. The doc has a video explaining why. I've learned that muscles are THE most important "master key" to using the proteins, vitamins and minerals that we eat to nourish our body. Weight loss happens as the metabolism improves and our body becomes more efficient.
@@Lara-EL My comment isn't a complaint. It is just a statement of the large amount of fruits that I am eating to supplement my protein, vegetable, weightlifting and calisthenics exercise routine. I am trying to lose weight. So my comment is a short commentary on that success.
@@kharris0465 Got it. 🙂 Congratulations and thank you for sharing. I'm trying too.
I coat my sweet potatoes with olive oil before microwaving. It makes the skin nice and soft to eat.
Thank you for all you have done to help educate us!! I have learned so much!! I live in MD. Could you give your thoughts on how to pick a good primary doctor.?
Great advise. I love sweet potatoes for breakfast.
@rb. I do love sweet potatoes. I have to say I microwaved them too the way she said. I then add some Himalayan salt + olive oil. I do not eat the skin though, not sure it’s good for you.
Great choice!
I never liked sweet potato but I will be trying them again. I haven't had one in a long time.
I’m trying hard to eliminate all snacks but, when I do, I try to make it a good snack like an apple.
Replace the carbs with protein and fat. You'll lose weight automatically and get healthy. Check out the carnivore/ketogenic lifestyle.
Thank you Dr. Liu. I am grateful for this video. Now i know that fruits and vegetables with high water content is key to losing weight as well as maintaining. God BLESS You
You are correct. Eat them whole and unprocessed. You are very welcome! God bless you too.
I get fluid retention so this will help. Thanx 😊❤ p.s. too much salt causes fluid retention. Trust me u don't want that!
Thanks for all your great informations. I haven’t seen a topic about Acid Reflux food intake. Is there one? If not I’ll be happy to see one soon. Thank you!
You can try apple cider vinegar pills or get the liquid with “the mother” (unfiltered). Stay way from antacids, as they will relax the valve at the top of the stomach. 2T ACV, 1T lime juice, 2-4 T water or organic cranberry juice/Pom/concord. The acids will contract the valve and will naturally help you complete the digestive process.
I love beans but I have found that they raise my blood sugar. I haven't tested garbonzo beans so I will try the dried ones. Thanks.
Have you talked about MCT oil in any video? I would like to hear your opinion of its purported benefits
I would love to indulge in fresh raw fruit but most of it upsets my stomach! Since I turned 50, raw fruits and vegetables are often problematic. I have started eating bananas again - they are fine - and will try microwaved sweet potatoes!
I eat microwave sweet potato but I'll sprinkle it with Ceylon cinnamon after it's done and it taste like desert😋😋
Put cinnamon on sweet potatoes. Delicious and helps with blood sugar.
Cinnamon on boiled sweet potato for lunch is great. I will add high fiber foods to my OMAD diet( not 3 meals and snack as I was trained to eat)!!!
Thank you for clarity in your presentation. Thank you so much ❤
you might have to put together a snack book for us.😊
Skin on commercial apples now covered with Apeel synthetic coating.
That is why buy from locals 😊Know your local farms. It’s life changing.
After 8 years of suffering, going into anaphylactic shock from eating random foods I have eaten all my life, an immunologist figured out I have hypersensitivity syndrome. A low tolerance to histamines. He recommends a low histamine whole foods diet. Then he told me he doesn't know how he can help any further and to find a specialist. Even my regular doctor had to look it up in front of me. I have struggled finding correct information, too much misleading information on the internet. So grateful TH-cam put your channel in my feed. I am desperate and have very little knowledge of what I am doing. A lot of the information you share is helpful and encouraging, making changing to a whole food diet seem possible. Thank you.
Might you be Salicylate sensitive? Its an anti-nutrient in many vegetables and fruits. My life has changed since I found this. Look at Low-sal-life
😍😍love video very informational, but can i drink water with squeezed lemon on it
Thank you for the comment on fruit. This is what my intuition has. told me against the current information. Fruit will satisfy a lot of the cravings for sugar and they are very hard to binge on. Jicama is a lovely, crisp vegetable that would be great in dips.
Yes! Crunchy and sweet.
Thank you for the suggestion to use jicama for dips. I never think of it, maybe because it's not easy to find in my area.
i put cinnamon in my sweet potato soo good and cinnamon is very healthy
Thank you so much for your videos. What do you think about sprouting your beans prior to cooking?
That would be very nutritious.
Very good video...only thing I would add is ensure fresh fruits are washed with baking soda to ensure any outer coating wax or chemical sprayed for pest control are removed well as much possible.
Interestingly enough, Dr. Gregor mentions salt as a way to rid produce of chemicals.
Great video. BTW It's pronounced "brusketta". ❤
Celtic salt is best
I love this channel, but I would like to see some real world choices for these foods that doesn't require as much cooking. I get that's part of the problem, but if you can recommend read-made products for some of these things, it will help us super busy folks with large households. I DO understand ready-made products tend to have more processed ingredients, but perhaps there are some out there with minimal processing.
Is it still best to to eat sweet potatoes, pasta, rice etc 24 hours after cooking? Thank you 😊 - sorry, also, should almonds be eaten without the brown skin on them? Thank you ❤
what about frankenfruit? Blueberries the size of grapes?
Dear Doctor,
“Bruschetta” is an Italian for the tomato topping (from Tuscany). Most people mispronounce it: brushetta which is wrong.
It is pronounced:
Brusketta.
In Italian SCEMA is shema,
while SCHEMA is skema.
B-R-U-S-K-E-T-T-A (phonetic)
i eat my beans the same way instead of chips, I am trying to reduce sugar and salt in cooking, by using less and more natural ingredients, like samphire salt and dates.
you like my mom I miss her a lot 😭
Lose weight by eliminating high carb, sugar, ultra processed foods. KETO❤
In fruits you said its better to eat it a whole as not to break the fiber as for a salad dressing of lemon and olive oil, which is better to whip them together or just drizzle them? Or they have same result
Very informative video.
Are green beans good to loose weight?
Thank you
Any plant eaten whole will help with weight loss as long as you keep it low calorie ie avoid added sugar and fats.
I have to be careful with salt I have menieres disease
How do you feel about MSG as a salt substitute? Does that cause the same issue?
Coming from a Brazilian family, my diet has always been high in salt. My American contemporaries always complain about how I salt the food I make for them. Yet I have never heard of hypertension as being a big issue in Brazil (I could be wrong, just to date I haven’t heard about it). As far as I know no one in the Brazilian side of my family has hypertension. In fact we’re pretty thin too.
I mix baked chickpeas and peanuts and almonds in one bowl for a glorious snack watching a movie. All unsalted, sometimes with some cayenne pepper.
onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, turmeric....the flavor possibilities are endless
Thanks! I’ll try it!
They use to serve this in the movie theatres decades ago in Spain instead of popcorn 🍿.
How many grams of protein do you recommend per day. I am 55.
TABLE salt 🧂 FREE LOL 😝 (I use hymileyin pink sea 🌊 salt )
Would this work even if one did not have a thyroid gland?
Thank you doc! I appreciate all the information you've shared and look forward to more. But I'm hearing conflicting info. For instance, one of my providers says I must avoid soy. One of your videos talks about eating soy for healthy longevity. Which way do I go? 😶

Hi! I've never smoked or use alcohol (but tried 😀it's mind blowing how people enjoy drinking a poison. It's like trying to taste a house cleaner) but I would like to my lungs cleaner. I do exercise 5 times a week but there is so much toxins around. Do you have a video on that, please.
Here's a video I made about that very topic. 5 Bad Habits That Make Your Lungs Sick; Asthma & Lung Cancer th-cam.com/video/E5PnkEsOa38/w-d-xo.html
Certain whole fruits such as the tropical variety like pineapple and mangos spiked my BG so quickly and severely. I think certain fruits affect individuals differently.
Absolutely everybody has a different sensitivity to insulin. There’s nothing wrong with an elevated blood sugar as long as it corrects within two hours. Blood sugar is a symptom of carbohydrate intolerance, which is not the same as the cause of carbohydrate intolerance. Fatty liver, visceral, fat, and fat in the muscles and muscle wasting are all contributors to carbohydrate intolerance. When you fix the root cause, you will improve your tolerance to carbohydrates. The best thing to do if blood sugars are elevated after eating is to walk.
Haw you find if you are deficent in fiber?
I've heard so many people say that snacking is bad for you since it keeps your blood sugar up and since your body doesn't have time to use this, it gets stored as fat. Please, what is your view on this Dr. Liu?
I'd rather eat olives than olive oil :)
I heard from more than one Dr
Do not eat anything coming out of the microwave !!
@Diosesdepapel. I don’t know about never eating anything anything coming out of the microwave. This doctor is talking about snacks, or food quickly prepared. I would think that eating a sweet potato coming out of the microwave is healthier than eating a bag of potato chips, made with sunflower oil.
What ever
Thank you for this video. Does blending frozen banana or frozen sweet potato into a nice cream cause it to be higher in calories and higher in available sugar too?
Yes. that work of blending takes away the work to make your body do. Plus, the fiber matrix is destroyed. However, if you aren't into maximizing burning calories, they are both still considered low calorie foods compared to processed foods. The problem arises when people add more calories like refined sugar and pure fat.
@@Healthyimmunedoc Thank you for your reply.
You do not lose muscle on a fast till day 30 plus. Your body is designed to survive without food for a longtime.
Is this true 🤨 ??
Interesting video, thanks 😊
Is almonds with sea salt healthy ??
Almonds yes. Sea salt no.
Thanks so much I enjoyed your video and also learned from it
I appreciate it for answering my question
Hi can u please make a video on varicose veins or spider veins can we cure it at home please reply

Thnx for sharing your valuable knowledge with us ❤...
What salty snack to eat with tea?? 🤔Are baked rice puffs or beaten rice gud or baked stuff in general?
Stay Blessed Stay Happy Always 🤗😘🥰🧚♀️🦄🌈🧿
So tasty! But rice puffs have high arsenic and essentially sugar. Have you tried nuts? With a variety of fresh fruit? Sometimes I put the flesh of passion fruit in my jasmine tea. Delicious.
I rarely snack, I just don't often feel the need. I eat three wholefood meals a day and generally I don't feel hungry in between. I've battled with my weight all my life, so I am very interested and well-informed about healthy eating.
On the other hand, my husband, who eats exactly the same meals as I do, frequently sneaks off to the kitchen for snacks. It seems he's always hungry! Before I met him, he was addicted to sweet trashy biscuits. I have spent years educating him out of his unhealthy habits. He is naturally thin so he spent most of his life thinking he could get away with eating whatever rubbish took his fancy. Now he finally realises that's wrong. We don't have biscuits in the house. I encourage him to snack on nuts instead.
We are now in our 60s and want to be healthy in our older years. We are eating better than ever, and are not taking statins or any of the other medication that people of our age typically take. I firmly believe that "We are what we eat".
NO SNACKS, is the answer!!!!!
Should we wash frozen fruit they come in packaged bags? I have read several articles that you can get coli and other bacterial infections from frozen fruit that was on the fruit before it was frozen. Do you have to wash the frozen foods mostly fruits before eating?
I do.
I have just come across your videos and they are so informative and clear. I have a question about the salt. I understood that there is sodium salt and potassiium salt. In the supermarket how do I know if the salt is potassium or sodium salt? Is there another name for Potassium salt? I have just subscribed
Generally something like "Lite Salt" look at the ingredients. it's part potassium and part sodium.
The brand Morton makes one
So I have looked at the ingredients in some of these low sodiu salts and the main ingredient seems to be potassium chloride.@@jacko.6625 Would it not be possible just to buy a kilo of potassium chloride?
