    Helpful review! My use cases probably are similar to yours, so I'm debating between this and the Samsung Odyssey G8 (which is often on sale for the same price).
    Regarding games like Valorant that don't support ultrawide (whether intentionally or not) -- my guess is that they simply render at 16:9 with black bars on the side, just as you were seeing with video content from TH-cam.

      Oh the G8 looks good too. But speaking on the warranty the 3 years is great especially as a productivity first monitor

    I was literally about to buy this for content consumption like TH-cam and Netflix but didn't think about the black bars on the side! Thanks for the heads up! Which oled non-ultra wide monitor would you recommend because I'd also be doing typical office work on it like accessing emails and Microsoft office frequently. By the way, your channel is great, just subscribed!

      I think i saw a really nice oled monitor on Amazon budgeted around $600 yesterday, it was 60hz refresh rate though. The rest of the specs were pretty nice too.

    You didn't talk about the specific subpixel layout of that monitor: how the triangle pixels makes it hard to read than the usual standard RGB horizontal pixel. How did you enjoy reading text with it?

      lmao i have one and the texts looks like on any other monitor 😂

      Late reply but I agree with dae8879 haven’t had issues reading text. It might’ve been off at first for an hour (perhaps placebo effect) but I don’t notice anything after a year using it

    I have this exact monitor and it is GREAT for content consumption like netflix youtube etc.. It is OLED so the black bars are pure black, no ips glow etc.. It makes no difference and is actually nicer than to centre the video you're watching imo. Like a thearte. I am only worried about burn on eventually but I am using a mac cinemadisplay on the side for the majority of static images

    • @StraightforwardTech
      @StraightforwardTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh haven't seen a cinema display in a while. Yes I agree that this specific monitor is great for watching content but the ultra wide format is not, but you make a good point about the theater aspect...you're spoiling my upcoming review video 😄

      @@StraightforwardTech yeah its old but surprisingly still great colour wise, even holds its own against this oled! Haha my bad man, and thats true, I guess its all just perspective!

    Ultrawide sucks for consoles. I bought Samsung QN90B 42, which has an ultrawide ratio feature. I don't even notice black bars at top, bottom, since it has decent enough dimming zones and is 144hz. LG C2 works great all round too.

      Wish I had a console to test this one on. Thanks for commenting your experiences with UWs

      Hey thanks for stopping by. I did notice it originally for the first week but since then not at all unless I really try to look for it with my text editor. I’m 80 % productivity plus 10%TH-cam and 10% gaming.

      @@StraightforwardTech thanks for the reply just want to ask as it doesn’t have usb c port and my MacBook Air doesn’t have hdmi cable what’s the best way to connect these 2 together?😊

      @mrahmedisrar you can always pick up a usb c to hdmi or display port cable instead something like this amzn.to/4e4qIkH

      this is what I have but I bought this a long time ago. I know a lot of people recommend the Ergotron HX but it's steep. amzn.to/3RxTa5W here's an alternative one too.

      you might need to create a custom fancy zone via the Editor

    hey bro, have you had any sign of burn in using it for productivity? i am planning on using it for 60% gaming/media 40% productivity

    • @StraightforwardTech
      @StraightforwardTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't noticed anything with my unit. I do utilize it mostly if not all productive with a 90%/10% split. I did do some dock and menu hiding in hopes of preventing that too.

      If you put the brightness down when browsing or not in a game you will reduce the chances of burn in massively, you can turn on game mode when you're in a game which will put the brightness up
