    You know, there's something VERY satisfying about seeing how much fun you can get from 133 HP. The Internet nowadays can just blast on our faces 2K+ HP engines with neck breaking power, yet to see so much fun out of less than 1/10th of it, and being a car guy (even tho I don't race and all... just the family grocery getter) I also do know you still gotta know what you're doing to not destroy yourself even with that power (insert Spider Man quote about great power here) on a tree or any crash.
    Kinda gives a feeling of wanting to get into it, seeing as you like, don't need outrageous cash to have some fun (tho around where I live I would still need to look quite a while to find some track or even a free safe road to try it)

    • @BoostedPastime
      @BoostedPastime 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Kalvinjj well these cars are just fun. Let's be honest most people cannot afford nor drive a 2,000 horsepower car. They are really only good for one thing. This is the more attainable option of enthusiasm.

    • @271production
      @271production 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      What I love about cars like this is that you can flog it on a backroad, hitting high revs a lot without getting in over your head. If you have a modern supercar and you push it on a B-road you're going to get yourself killed because youre doing 150mph in an instant

    • @Fosten12
      @Fosten12 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      why do you even NEED 2000hp. it will just wheelspin for ages if youre not on a dragtrack with phattyres

    • @mal3762
      @mal3762 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Wait I thought blacktop 4age came with 160hp? Or is it?

    • @Kalvinjj
      @Kalvinjj 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would guess that's wheel HP, then you throw that ~80% conversion and such, and it would give a bit more than the 160, which is understandable from his mods. That figure I took directly from the video's dyno shots in case.
      Also yes, definitely agreed with ya all above.

    3 hp less on this engine size with stock trumpets is far from being bad seen all the noise they are designed to reduce and the room they allow, with their bend.
    I would say they even work very well.
    Also it's very lean between 3000 and 4000 ,do you have a tuning issue ?
    You could get more driveability with a tune around there.

    It all depends on the cam you have and where peak power is. There are free intake runner calculators online. Sizing the runner length to the cam can actually give a noticeable bump in power. Based on valve timing and the pressure waves of the intake air, the intake runner length should be tuned so the pressure wave hits as soon as the valve opens essentially giving a supercharging effect.

    If you look at the air fuel ratio you will see that the engine runs leaner with the stock rubber. This indicates more air entering the engine. If you remapped (add fuel to the specific load sites on the map) on the setup which runs leanest then you will see power gains. Just because you see a change only means its different not better or worse unless you adjust the afr to compliment the change :) cracking video though!!!

      Exactly, everyone is looking at the wrong part of the graph. Unless of course it's a race car or if people only care about induction sound.
      For daily driven cars, who wants that massive hole in the torque curve between 3500 to 5000 rpm where 90% of your driving will be done?
      I went down that path of fitting high quality 50mm trumpets to mine, but reverted back to the factory trumpets because the lack in torque under 6000rpm was that bad.

    When I had my 20V, I ran 90mm length, a copy of the Toda specs. Car ran really nice, but I also had a set of aftermarket cams in. 1 thing I would change would've been to get a set of CatCams & not the locally billet cut cams I had. I ran 293 degree with 9.5mm lift cams.

    Interesting back to back comparisons, not just the actual torque/power differences but the sound.
    Most people, even "car" guys don't realise that the inlet tract length affects the cylinder filling, just like exhaust pipe length does - partially due to the potential velocity increase but mostly due to the change in the pressure waves in the inlet tract*.
    The way it was trending, would have been interesting to see what would have happened with even longer trumpets...?
    *From that, some of you will realise the intake camshaft timing will affect what benefits are realised from changing the trumpet lengths, and what the optimum trumpet length is.

    I love that 50mm sound. It’s the best for me, and it sound so much gnarlier than the rest.

    Really informative video! I always asked myself how much of an impact the trumpets make , at the moment Im driving with K&N filters instead of trumpets but Ive driven the stock trumpets also.
    Didnt felt like a lot of difference.
    I have R1 carburetors on my engine.
    Soo Im planning to get some aftermarket long trumpets I guess.
    And how about trumpets with a filter? Ive got my carbs on the front so I must use some kind of filters I think ,because it will suck in way easier sand etc.
