  • Jeep has finally stuffed the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 into the Gladiator. We spent time with a Rubicon version to see what all the clattery fuss is about. Is the diesel mill worth the extra $6,000 you need to shell out? Well, torque is certainly a wonderful thing...

If you find that price eye-watering, you should take a look at what Jeep charges for these in Germany.... Just bought an Overland (almost fully loaded) for 67k... Euros that is... And that is still w/o lift, wheels... but with the humongously fugly EU-bumper... I will never... NEVER tell my wife how much I forked over to the dealer to make it anywhere near as fancy as the Rubicon you're hauling in this video of yours...

Rubicon absolutely necessary if doing any substantial/significant offroading. Granted a majority will not even press the locker switches but I have been in positions that the front and rear lockers barely allowed me to exit several intense offroading situations in which it appeared I was about to spend the PM and night out in rural WV. If i were in a standard sport or equivalent with open diffs.....game over. Rubicon equals peace of mind....this coming from experience

Also do your research and purchase from a dealer that sells these vehicles reasonably priced......Gupton, Tricity Eden NC, or Cross Jeep

@@zacharymarcum5628I owned a lifted GMC Sierra with a 6 in fab tech lift suspension with 37’s. I thought that truck was bad ass until I drove my wife’s Jeep rubicon. We were just dating during that time, and she would rage that the rubicon was a beast. So she let me drive it and regretted it instantly. We tackled some crazy tall sand dunes with ease. I loved how light and maneuverable the Jeep was. In stock form the Jeep just gave me so much confidence. We later came across what appeared to be a muddy trail. I didn’t think it was that bad because it’s Texas and 110 degrees outside in the desert. Well we drove into the mud, pedal to the floor and sank 5feet half way into the trail. We had to jump out the windows and call for my dad to pull us out. Once he showed up and pulled us out, it was apparent the mud hole was so deep and so thick, the incline to get out was just to much for a stock rubicon. I can see why people love jeeps. They are Just a different creature entirely.

I ordered a Willys Sport in a diesel. I am getting the Mopar lift installed by the dealer to keep the warranty. I am putting Mickey Thompson MTs on it. I won't have the nice off road pages or some the nice creature comforts, but after some other mods coming in way under the Rubicon and getting what I think is a classic looking Jeep (Sarge Green). That being said I test drove a Rubicon to get an idea/ feel for the Gladiator before I ordered, and it was a very nice truck. The owner of a Rubicon wouldn't be wrong to buy one, just a matter of preference and amount of money willing to spend. Have a good one!

If you like the open cabin experience, like the Wrangler, this why you choose Jeep. There aren’t many options that compare in the truck category. It’s smiles per mile and you obviously have to ask yourself what do you want? Did the Diesel DEF fluid gauge show empty?

40 percent of this video is this guy telling you not to buy the one he is driving, couldn't finish the video because he was just going on and on and on and on about how expensive it is and how easy it is to do stuff yourself.......yeah, we get that, didn't click to get a lecture about saving money, wanted to just hear/see driving impressions and overall use experience of the diesel. I can make my own purchasing decisions. Plus anyone who is looking to buy this model already knows they are going to spend an arm and a leg, don't need this guy to be my mommy and tell me to save save save....

But it won’t be a gladiator, this and the wrangler are in a class of their own with the doors off and top off, on,y the bronco is competing
