2021 Triumph Trident 660 // First ride review! Is it the perfect first big bike? 🤔

  • Hey All!!
    Firstly, I hope you rowdy bunch are all good 👍
    At the beginning of the week, Triumph UK kindly sent me a Trident 660, an absokute thing of BEAUTY 🤩
    This is my first impressions of the bike!
    Very gutted that all I can really do is take it to work and back but I am hoping that as soon as the lock down lifts, I can take a trident to my local country lanes for some aggressive throttle action! 🙊
    Let me know what you think about this addition to the Triumph familia 🇬🇧

    Kate does the perspective on seat height and pushes the bikes around a bit. Simple but, incredibly helpful.

    I am picking mine up Monday 1st March. A comment on beginners bike. I’m 65 had over 25 bikes including three V-Max I find the very light weight and enough power suit me now. Has a huge spread of torque and very good spec for the money. I’m trading in my Bonneville 1200 which is actually 1bhp less and so heavy feels like a tank in comparison looking forward to it. Have added Triumph connectivity and heated grips. Your test was a good first ride test have subscribed see how you get on.

      Beat you Stuart! I'm 65 and picked up my 34th bike a couple of months ago, a Honda CMX500 (don't laugh!). Knee joints and ankles not so good so after a lifetime of big cruisers and adventure bikes I have had to down size and get something physically smaller and lighter if I'm to continue riding. The CMX is so much FUN I can't believe it! Ride safe mate.

    Hey Kate. Thanks for the review. At the beginning of the review you pushed the bike around a little which most other reviewers don’t. I think it is important to show and talk about how easy or difficult it is to move around with no power. Not all of us can flat foot and move the bike easily.

    It really is a beautiful bike. I have been looking for a long time at a Royal Enfield Continental GT or the revised Moto Guzzi V7. My first bike was a standard Kawasaki 750 back in the day. That bike could do everything. This new 660 seems so capable for a short trip across town or for going on a tour for the weekend. I know the boys at TEC are already looking seriously at the things they can do for this motorcycle. So I'm keen to see what type of touring accessories will be available in the near future. I'm not really an adventure bike rider and not really a hyper bike rider. I just really want a good standard motorcycle that can do everything like that Kawasaki of mine used to do. I think Triumph has nailed it with this bike. By the way, great review. I am now a subscriber. 😊😊😊🌹🌹🌹

    Hi Kate, It was good to see a nice sunny day for this review, and your 1440p is superb, and in perfect widescreen. This was a good review with a detailed walk-around, showing all aspects of this beautiful machine, and it's certainly no slouch on the road. Look forward to seeing you giving it a blast over the mountain roads.

    Its a smart looking little bike, I like the fact they have gone for the Triple Engine instead of the Parallel Twins as used in the T120 etc. (Nothing wrong with the Twin Engines by the way)
    Also coming on Michelin Road 5's from the Factory is a Winner, Superb Tyres in my opinion.
    I know that the Bike isn't really aimed at the Performance/Sports sector but a lot of fun can be had on a Middleweight, Lower Powered Bike and as you said it will be a user friendly Bike for someone wanting to return to Riding after a long Break.
    Great Review :)

    Great review with this bike Kate, I’m always alittle concerned with Triumph reviews in the UK because you wonder if the reviewer has a bias towards them and just tells you it’s magic, yours was very honest though. It’s not my preferred style of bike tbh but I think it would be a great commuter and daily rider.

  • @wsmv
    @wsmv 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The bike looks so good, and at that price ots an absolute bargain for a bit of prestige name branding. I would think it'd be a little short for me but I'm sure they'll bring out a higher seat option like so many manufacturers do

    Very nice overview. I don't know that I'd say it's as an entry level bike but more so an every day rider. For a suburban rider this is perfect. I loved my Speed Triple until I was habitually lifting the front wheel and driving 20 MPH over the speed limit. Having a welterweight triple is what fits my daily ride.

    Anyone assuming that this is a bike for shorter people is very much mistaken. This is a very tall bike. I’m 5’7”, 32” inseam and I tippy toe mine. The suspension is extremely stiff even on the softest preload setting so it does not compress much when you sit on it.
    Do yourself a favor if you have one of these- change out the front sprocket to a 17-tooth. It makes 1st-4th gears more usable. It’s geared too low from the factory. Best $12 mod you can do to it.

  • @divechart4269
    @divechart4269 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I had to subscribe. This is a great review. I actually know the bike now without riding it. 👍 80hp is also for honest, experienced riders who know that if you know how to ride..it is plenty for the road.

    the video quality/ production has improved no-end. Not everyone wants a big 1000/1200cc bike, (although the UK market seems to dictate that in particular UK buyers like the the big sports/adventure bikes) - middleweight is about where it is at for me. Good review as always

I think on another vid of yours you state you were a bit nervous of a big bmw and your boss said (in other words) you’ve got this just get on and ride it. a bit of experience and confidence goes a long way.

    Great review Kate, I like that you mention your inseam measurement as that's more important than height. I'm 5'9" with a 27" inseam so I struggle even getting on a lot of modern bikes that seem to have got taller than bikes of my youth. Thanks for that as it's a big help when considering a bike and there mu0cd66be451st be plenty of short legged riders out there. 👍

    Great video, I agree it’s in the first big bike category. (Number plate looks like an after thought)

      If they earn money from TH-cam then bike reviews/rides are legitimate work purposes aren’t they?

    Good intro to the bike Kate. I wonder what it rides like compared to an MT07.. it looks great.

    Yep, best in white. And I agree, it's up against the XSR 700 and Honda CB650R. Thank you for a wellmade review.

    Looks a great competitor for the MT07. Probably higher build quality too. Nice. Numberplate hanger want kicking straight off

    I think Triumph have got it spot on with this bike. Price, performance, looks and spec all go together to send it to the top of the middleweight naked class.

    I can't wait to test ride the Trident soon. Too many people are comparing it to the Street Triple, the Street Triple isn't for everyone! I had a GSX S750, I'll compare it to that!
