    Being invited by Triumph, you've made the big time! People are going to bang on about comparing it with the CB650R and the MT07 but the GSX-S750 is currently selling at £7,249. Having test ridden the GSX-S750 with its 112bhp it's the bike I'd buy right now.

    • @Englishbikerdan
      @Englishbikerdan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Technically that bike isn't in the same sector. All the other bikes are under 95bhp and can be A2 restricted. Personally, I can't stand the looks of the Suzuki naked range other than the SV which looks pretty cool.

    • @hosuyakawayazuki
      @hosuyakawayazuki 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point. GSX-S750 it's a rock-solid bike. And as long as it is around 7k price point it should be counted as a competitor.

    • @DoctorStrange01
      @DoctorStrange01 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@StereotypedFilms It's RELIABLE (caps on purpose), has more than enough power and torque for the street, and traction control. What is lacking there, cause i see mostly pros ? No TFT ? Look at the road. I wouldn't even look at Trident if i was to buy a naked around that price. Looks are subjective, therefore not an argument in any discussion.

      Gsx-s is still one of the best riding bikes, because it's based on the legendary GSXR750

    • @eikonise
      @eikonise 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If only more people remembered the gsx-s 750😢 it might be possible to one day find one on the used market. I don't like the street fighter naked styling in general, but of all the alternatives (kawi, Yamaha, Honda f naked and worst of all KTM) the Suzuki was clearly the best looking.

    The clarity of this video test ride is the best around! You can hear the triple running, the view, the narration isn't intrusive, everything done right! By the way I think triples made by triumph will be the in the limelight in2021, together with tiger 850 sport. Best motorcycles!

    Wow - an invite to the press launch of the most talked about bike of the year! Testament to your excellent work on TH-cam! I don't know why but I can't get excited about this bike yet. Personal taste but I don't like the livery for starters. Maybe I will warm to it when reviews on UK roads start to appear. But in the meantime, thanks for posting your first thoughts. I'd by the Triump but the cb650r has 4 pot radial mounted calipers. I hate the 2 pot sliding on the triumph. They stick and bind over time. There's no place for them on this level of bike.
      Even the cheaper suzuki sv has 4 pots. Even the ladies z650 I believe. .
      The CB is technically better but the inline 4 lacks character of the triple and twins of its rivals.

    Great review Dan, excellent quality. At 56, In September I decided I wanted motorbike so within 6 weeks I managed to take all the tests and so close to buying the XSR700 Tribute when our second lockdown happened in the UK and all of the shops closed. A day later Triumph launched this and has completely blown me away. I've lost track of how many videos of motorbikes I've watched over the last 6 weeks! I'm surprised more test riders don't compare the Trident to the XSR700, to which I think it looks closer too, than the MT07?
    I'm 6 foot tall with a 30 inch inside leg measurement (so not long legs) and 16 stone. So I hope the Trident would be ok for me? I have a deposit on one and can't wait to try it.

    • @Tybward
      @Tybward 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m in the exact same boat. I had my eyes set on the XSR for nearly 6 months until this came out. Now I think I have shifted my eyes to purchase the trident instead. The only let down for me is that I absolutely love the exhaust sound of the XSR with an after market pipe.

    • @stevebeeston8749
      @stevebeeston8749 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tybward I'm not so bothered about that as you can hardly hear it when you've got your helmet on. The only other thing is that you can guarantee that they will be bringing out a Euro 5 compliant version of the XSR700 at some point next year? It might still not have the features of the Trident though as the MT07 didn't have anything new on it.

    • @Englishbikerdan
      @Englishbikerdan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers! While I agree in terms of looks it is closer to the XSR, the MT07 is the King of the middleweight nakeds at the moment and that's what the Trident is going for. I can't say about anyone's height other than my own as we are all different shapes and sizes. However there were taller people on the launch and I don't remember them saying anything negative about the riding comfort or position.

    Damn what nice roads in Spain. The frost-heaved backroads here in Eastern Canada will have you quickly shifting your weight to the foot-pegs. The new Trident is a perfect bike for real-world riding and who cares about 200 hp bikes you can't use unless you own a race-track. Still my 2010 Triumph STR 675 has an unbelievable sound from the intake and Arrow 3-1 exhaust. Even at 60,000 kms it is faster than new.

    do vs CB650R video? jealous you get to test ride it. In Thailand we got to wait until Feb 2021 until first batch of Trident arrives. It is priced exactly same as CB650R here. People are arguing that a Triumph should cost more for service vs a Honda, any thoughts?
    Also, how are the suspensions and the brakes? Aren't they almost or exact same as the CB ?

  • @DatOldeBiker

    Thank you for a visually stunning and interesting review. My only criticism is that you mention the riding position/comfort of your legs and reach to the ground - useful only to anyone of the same height (whatever that is))

    Great review. Bye the way I think "micro-climates" are one of the reasons why I enjoy riding although looking at the moisture on your tires at the end of the video I can say that rain is a micro-climate I can do without (especially if it's accompanied by lightning).

    As a CB650R owner, I am looking forward to your comparison video between the Trident and the CB650R. I am having a thought of getting the Trident when it is available in my country next year. I have never own a triple before and I love the sound of Inline 4, so it will be a hard decision. I decided to put an Akrapovic Racing Line Titan Carbon tip without the DB killer on my CB650R after watching your review video a year ago!

    I have to say, this is the first review of Trident where the camera has a nice position and I can see the speed and gear you are in. I was wondering if anyone will show 1st gear challenge, but unfortunately not. I see 2nd gear goes up to 90km/h (~56mph) and 3rd gear up to ~120km/h (~75mph). If this torque is really as good as they say at low rpm...it may be a decent city commuter. But that throttle lag slightly worries me, a few people already mentioned it.

    • @Englishbikerdan
      @Englishbikerdan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Apparently the throttle lag is to make it friendly for new riders. It's only down low that I noticed it and when you get going it was a lot better. Still, I would have like the option of a 'sport' mode to reduce it.

    • @hosuyakawayazuki
      @hosuyakawayazuki 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Englishbikerdan Lets say you are in 2nd gear, cruising with traffic ~10-15mph. You see a gap cage man left you and you want to swiftly just wrummm, jump in before he will understand what's happened. Will that lag throttle kick in? Will your acceleration be affected?

    - Riding in all conditions of a year
    - I am 6.1"and 220 pounds
