ABS cannot be switched OFF (despite Manual saying it can). TC can be switched OFF though. You mention is it a basic bike, but it’s actually got more tech ( some are options) than any of its rivals. ABS, TC, TFT, Ride Modes, Bluetooth / Sat Nav / Go Pro integration, and best of all - Quickshifter. BTW, TC saved me on poor surfaces…
Just to say: I have done 149 miles now, and it is brilliant. I was riding in rain mode and it seems to have more power than I will need. I am sure I will get accustomed to it in time. Suspension is comfortable and no complaints at all. Only negatives I can think of: Just wish it had both headlights on dipped, but to be honest that was a wish before I bought it and I forgot about it when sat on it! The headlights on the Striple do Not turn with the forks, bit different, but no problem so far - will need to test it after dark Getting insurance for it derestricted was a bit tricky.
Great review; just this channel and 44Teeth kind of showed what this bike is best at... keeping it on the boil and going at the stopper through the first 3-4 gears. Most people just open the throttle at 3k and say that it is sluggish, well not all bikes are SDRs and pulling from 2k rpm! Thanks for the great review again!
My overall impression of the Triumph is good based on your vids. Looking to upgrade from my 125 shortly and this is in the list of potential options now. Cheers spicy.
I love the tank and the looks. This is not a "Modern Classic" like a Bonneville but a "Future Classic" of the triple lineup. Nice bike and great review Sir!! 🙌👏👌✌🖖🤙👍👋🙂
Spicy final verdict. The trident vs street twin. I’m feeling sportier ride on trident might be the satisfaction that fits me. But the twin has that smoothness and looks. Hmmm
Hi, in your street twin ypu commented it cpuld be ypur replacement bike if it was slightly bigger. How does the trident compare to the street twin ignoring the size issue?
I would say so as in my opinion as I love smaller engine bikes. I have ridden many thousands and always feel a bit bored as you really can not open them up on the road without risking your licence or even prison.
I did try that but it didn't seem to have a huge difference tho I didn't try it for too long as I was being spirited most of that day haha glad it's a thing and not just me.
IMO a bike that's fussy to drive down low is very frustrating and leads to resentment. Even if it goes away in the twisties, I feel like 95%+ of your time (not miles, but time on the bike) is in cities, towns, etc. at slow speeds or constant speeds. At least if it's not a weekend bike. That triple is definitely a gem though. I had one when I had a Tiger and even in an ADV bike it was a beautiful engine to rev out.
Oooh, You've got me tempted by a trident even more now. One question of curiosity, did you ever get the opportunity to ride 2up? That seat looks like they'd slide straight off the back, so i'm wondering how a pillion would find it!
I’ve got the pillion grab handles on mine (steep slope on the driveway, just wanted them for extra pushing around grab space) - still wouldn’t fancy putting the wife on the back though. Just about enough room for one of the kids (for a short hop).
I enjoyed your review, thanks but have to say that having viewed 20+ other reviews on the Trident you are the only one to mention the slow speed throttle issue (strange), so have to ask if your bike maybe had a fault.
I can only go on the bike I had, It may be related to the traction control as I have noticed on a couple of Triumphs that when I pop over a speed bump the TC loses it for a moment.
Regarding your 360 camera, I personally don't mind it in small doses but probably prefer it just when used to see you occasionally when your chatting, there's something about seeing the person when they are talking that just seems right, even if you are wearing a helmet lol. (Edit typo, also dyslexic lol)
Great review, doubts and all. Those lanes and roads were also so good, except for that green tractor ! Aren't they supposed to raise the bucket when they are on the highways?
Would be lovely to hear your thoughts comparing this bike to your old XJ6 :) would you take the Trident for 9k euros with quick-shifter or a 2013 XJ6 for 5k with only 1000 km in the clock?
I think it would be better if they finished the rear end before they allowed it out the factory .The rear end bitza muguard looks like an after thought & a right dogs breakfast .If thats being with it these days ,I am glad I am without it . Still Spicy you can only review what they give you ,so I will give you a thumbs up as per usual .👍
The reason the tail is like that is European rules about the plate being behind the back wheel. The other way of doing it would be a massive hanger off the tail of the bike. This is only a manufacturer rule once you buy the bike you can change it. 👍
@@spicy110 We never had that on the older bikes ,My Bandit had a normal short mudguard & numberplate behind the pillion seat .The seat on that comes to an abrupt end ,then a gap and then a piece of tat that’s supposed to be a mudguard & number plate bodged to the swing arm .I don’t see the point ,it doesn’t even look good nor will it be as effective as a proper conventional mudguard .Looks like a creation from scrapheap challenge , they seem to have some weird ideas on design these days, this looks as bad as that Ducati Diavel monstrosity even it’s mother would disown it .👍

Are simple bikes better?? ..... hmmmmmmm ... yes at times ... but personally I like having a bike with lots of electronic toys to play with, the character of my bike can be changed through several different separate fuelling and throttle response options with the press of a button ... the TC has 9 different selectable levels depending on how fruity I'm feeling .. the ABS has supermoto mode so I can still have it turned on but also lock the back end up for slidey fun times .... etc etc etc .... or if I want simplicity I can ignore all that stuff and just leave the options alone. It is only in recent years they have become less intrusive feeling with that level of tuneability, for me I would still rather have it all on me to control.
In 5 years of riding my 2014 street triple 675r, not once have I thought this needs traction control! It's one of the reasons I've kept it so long, it has abs, but no other electronic rider aids at all and is all the better for it. 🙂
I test rode one of these. Its a nice and capable if unspectacular starter bike. I went with the 2021 Street Triple R in the end. Bit more money, a lot more bike. Voting for she on board cams btw. The contorted 360 stuff isn't pretty imo
Agreed. The difference in price is very small and the triple has better components and power. Losses on simplicity, confort and fuel economy but is a better deal for the money. If trident was 1000eur cheaper, that would be a different story
Honestly if you were 5'4 you would be asking why do they make them all so big! Renno (my other half 5'4) has a much more limited selection for this reason.
@@spicy110 most bike seat can be lowered and have that option from factory, if we are talking endure bikes, gs and the like, I totally agree with you, I was more thinking about normal road bikes, especially the naked segment.
I've seen a few of these around. They are not a big bike in stature. Parkee up beside a Suzuki gsxs125 and a Honda cb125r it's not all that much bigger. Although that would probably suit the type of person they are targeting
I will say shorter riders have a much more limited options list so it's not bad it's smaller, and if at 6'4 I can still ride it and enjoy it, that's got to be pretty good.
Yeah it looks a great bike. I'll be looking for a new commuter bike in the new year and this is on the list. Keep up the great work, really enjoying your channel

Sadly not as I have no access to Kawasaki bikes.

The trident is very much a bike you could live with, about the same about of a tad small for me. Best thing to do if your stuck is test ride both!

Thank you so much for saying a 5ft 4ins woman can ride this bike. There's a lot of us about and some of us want to ride bikes.
I had that same anti-stall issue with my T120. Try turning the traction control off. That fixed the issue on my T120

Lots, medium, little?
Thanks 🙂👍 I did talk about this in the video, it has a slipper clutch so not a huge amount.
