I haven't ridden my own bikes (or any bikes) for fun since before Christmas - which is gutting as I've only been able to ride the Goldwing I bought once so far!

Is it just me but the rear mudguard number plate holder is a great idea, revealing the beautiful backend of the trident. Thank you TMF, keep up the good work with your honest reviews
I like the rear mudguard and number plate holder, leaves the tail section looking like a piece of art rather than having a number plate rudely hanging off and ruining everything
Having lived through my “bigger is better” phase, I hope these incredible “middleweights” are a harbinger of things to come, especially as experienced and highly skilled riders (and influencers like TMF) take up the mantle.
Was not really impressed with the looks at first, but saw it at a local dealership last week. Definitely looks better in the flesh! The tail looks really neat in particular, they did not slam on just a piece of plastic as a mudguard but the actually put some lines on it. And it eliminates the need for a costly tail tidy, with the benefit of not having a wet back at the end of the day :)
Beautiful dash too - love to see more manufacturers not make the dash an afterthought but a part of the design process so that the whole machine gels together beautifully.

Hi Mr Flyer. I was wondering whether you are considering doing a review on the Sinnis 380 they have just released ? It is a bike I am considering as a part time weekend toy that is reasonably priced low enough to justify buying one that os not going to get a lot of use ? Cheers and keep up the great work ?
I have a Triumph Explorer 2015 plate and was looking to test ride the trident...when I get the opportunity..... as a second machine as I couldn't part with my Tiger. I also read about the Triumph Track system and there isn't much information about it or videos i.e cost and the process of how it all works if you're unfortunate enough to lose your bike to thieves , I've also been looking into buying a bike and not everyone can afford to buy outright I think it would be great if you could do a bit on the buying side, as PCP is being pushed by dealers and hire purchase and loans all have their good points and bad. Thanks for your great videos and I look forward to the next one.
Great 1st review Andy. I think it looks better in the flash than the pre release promo shots indicated....... apart from the obligitory pig ugly number plate mount. £7195 is a great price, well done Triumph, i think this bike will appeal to new and old riders alike, there will be riders queueing up around the block to buy one of these. Im tempted :-)
Hi Andy feels like I have watching your reviews for ever and a big fan of your level headed reporting u like many others - just wanted to ask that when you do the walk around and praise the tft display it would good if you turned the ignition on so we could see it. Keep up the good work

Single clock looks good. And a fuel gauge! Bike sounds nice and seems to go ok. As you said, engine not as turbine like as the Street Triple but still goes ok. And NO keyless ignition.. What's not to like? Just needs a tail tidy, Like every other UK bike.
I have been looking forwards to this review. I like the look of the Trident. Love the TFT dash. I agreed on the number plate hanger though. I bet R&G and Evotech have this in their sights though. I great review as usual. Well done Andy.
Ah, so that's what you were up to when I saw you parked up. Well done for being the first tuber to get hold of one. The bike looked small but maybe because you blended in wearing all black? Great review as always, look forward to seeing the rest.
Hey TMF! One of the best reviews I've seen of this bike, nice one. And I agree with your Tenerrife comments. They were all showing the same pictures and more or less talking about exactly the same things. Kudos to you for organising this long term test in conditions most of us encounter daily. Love the sound of that buzzy triple! Do you think you'll get hold of a new MT07 to give a close comparisson?
@@TheMissendenFlyer That is bizarre. I guess with 250K sales they don't need the extra publicity? Strange attitude though. You'll have to get a loaner from a mate!
Another great video. I may be odd, but I like the back end - slick & ‘GS-like’ (I have a GS & love that look too). A seat cowl & whip off the pillion pegs would complete the look. Keep up the good work 👍
I think triumph will sell loads of these, I think it looks a better allrounder than the MT07,Z650, it’s not ugly and keenly priced. Have to agree the sports bike shop are awesome.
First out with a full review that I’ve seen, well done Andy. Many options available which push the price up a lot, I wonder what the Goldilocks spec is for you?
Great bike! Looking forward to passing my licence (after this crazy pandemic) and getting one of these for a first big bike! Also can't wait for more in depth reviews Love your videos! ❤️
btw, I prebooked the Trident in December, it's arriving next month, here in India. Can't wait to ride my 2nd bike, 5 months back purchased Duke 390, 3rd bike would be a 2021 V4 Streetfighter but only if it has Granturismo 1158cc engine
Excellent introductory review Andy. I'd be very keen to see a close up in depth look at the new TFT in it's workings though. Looks proper, and I WISH Triumph would redesign the layout on the Tiger 900 screen! Ditch that dual rev counter look. It doesn't work and takes up valuable user interface % of the screen. (Make it more like the GS screen, or even the new Indian TFT which looks WONDERFUL! That one has full touch screen control).
Reviewers continually refer to it as a beginner bike. I've owned several different styles of bikes over the years. At 74 I don't need a super sport bike and don't desire a bulky cruiser. This is a perfect balance between occasional chats with the local police officer and loud and boisterous bulky cruiser. As good as it is good for the beginner it is more equally good for the finisher. Another great review.
I've been waiting for you to do a review on this bike. Really like the depth you go to with your long term bikes. Look forward to a potential review of the new speed triple maybe. Cheers dude ✌
Andy, Thanks for the review. Well done on missing that crater at 18 mins. 45 secs., loving the Red Kite photo bombing the fashion section at 23 mins. Regarding the not so good turning circle on this and the Street Triple, which bikes have a better turning circle? When covering headlamp performance could you compare it to the twin headlamp setup on your Street Triple please?
What a great review! Have booked a demo ride at the end of the week and am pretty stoked! A quick question... this verse the 07 what would u pick and why? Cheers man.😁
Great review Andy 😀👍 I’ve been looking forward to seeing this video after reading your little teaser comment on Twitter and you didn’t disappoint. I do love the look and sound of this bike, I’m tempted to have a test ride... although unfortunately I don’t think I can justify another road bike. At the moment I’m looking for a second bike with a modicum of off road capabilities to join my T120.
I like the new Trident a lot. I hope this attracts some new riders to the brand. My only complaint is the same as I have with all their bikes...the horrible levers lifted straight from a 1970's Schwinn. How much could it really cost to have something a little nicer, preferably machined?
Great looking bike, agree on the odd look of that rear signals/plate piece (plus can't help but wonder how quickly they'd get covered in dirt and make the signal lights redundant). Love the mention to red kites too! Always keeping my eyes out for them when riding in those ends.
Good review. But camera quality I thought was very dark picture especially on your new bar mounted camera. Huge difference in brightness when u switch to iPhone. Still enjoyed it 🤷🏼
I think these things may be fitted due to a Euro or German directive which says a rear wheel must have a guard covering a certain minimum area of the tyre-I think.
@@tonym4432 Here in Australia ( probably the same there) the law sayes that the numberplate must be the furthest part of the bike, which would explain all the ugly stretched stalks they are on. I've never heard of anyone being charged for having a tail tidy though. 😊
Excellent review as always. I agree about the looks, and particularly the rear half of bike. I've never understood the desire some people have for that 'cut off' look, which leads many XSR owners for example to ditch the rear mudguard/fender. Looks awful. Overall the bike seems to sound and ride far better than it looks. In the end how it feels to ride should be most important. Trouble is I can't spend money on something that doesn't make me happy when I look at it...
Another great review Andy, another lovely Triumph too, a mate was going to buy a KTM...until I showed him the promo to the Trident...being an English lad I think he feels overwhelmingly patriotic to get his hands on one of these...haha! Just waiting on my Baker Express Interceptor to arrive in NZ, you sold me on yours. Cant wait to see what you've done to your one.
One of my riding mates has one of these on order, with a tentative delivery date of March 26th. I've just sent him the link to this video to torture him, heh, heh, heh. 😈
Does this mean Bucks has been released from lockdown? Great review Andy tho a little risky in more ways than one!! Out of interest does the 'If you bend it you mend it' rule apply to your borrowed bikes?
Mick - making videos on you tube is how I earn my living, I cannot review bikes from home and hence I am within the rules to ride a motorcycle for the purposes of reviewing it - I have taken legal advice on this point, I hope it doesn't irk you too much as I realise I'm very fortunate to still be able to ride bikes on occasion. I have not ridden any of my bikes for fun since lockdown begun, including my new Goldwing that I have only ridden once since I bought it.
I totally agree you have full entitlement to earn your living Andy. Sorry if my comment came out the wrong way, it was intended as a tongue in cheek bit of banter. The risks I was referring to were getting the bike muddy and almost wheelying it!! Its great to be able to get out virtually with you while we are trapped so keep it up mate!!
Cheers Andy for another objective review. Interested to hear you mention the limited 'electronification'. I didn't hear you mention the option to add additional phone connectivity though, which adds sat nav functionality amongst other things and in my opinion well worth knowing about. Also, I was trying to workout what make/model your bar camera mount is. Many thanks
Thanks. I understand but thought you might have mentioned it as an option for those who might. I was interested in the bar mount system rather than the actual camera. It looks like a convenient one for switching to other positions on the bike?
Seems a nice naked bike with a rather nice 3 cylinder engine. In the same way that tea and cakes are nice. But will the aluminium bits protect the radiator, when they are needed? Great first impressions, marred only by the grey gloomy day and damp roads, bringing a shiver to my armchair.
Thank you for another entertaining and informative review. I really like the bike and I’m looking forward to test riding her next Saturday. I’m actually not interested in buying it since I’m the recent owner of a Street Triple RS but if I was on the market for a simple, easy and good looking machine I think this would be my pick. Ride safe and best wishes to Mrs Flyer for her choice when the moment comes. 👍
Listening to the engine note as you rode,I get the impression that the gearing is low hence the feeling of high torque. I also watched several videos where Triumph technicians explained their target market thus naked means it's never intended for trackday usage. The tweaking of the performance is to enable less servicing which the technicians did emphasize. That said,I do think it's a great bike just not one I would own as I do prefer a screen of some kind(& I'll never be in a position to buy another new bike,as I spent my inheritance on a new MT-09 almost 2 years ago)
Looking forward to the rest of the videos regarding this bike Andy. I may consider buying it, but on looks alone, it does look similar to my Yamaha MT07 2015. So, I’m on the fence! What of the GoPro remote button? Did you pair it to yours and if you did, did it work well?
No I don't think this bike has the connectivity stuff enabled - at least I haven't found it in the menus so far (and TBH I'm not too bothered by that sort of thing...)
Andy when you review helmet can you tell us what its like other than price and colours? How quiet at speed and comfortable would be really useful. Thanks
The 660 reminds me so much of my 09' 675 Stripple. I loved that bike and had it for about 5 years. I might be getting this bike for having fun with. I'm more practical now and am more attractive to retro bikes now. I just sold my 2012 Bonnie. I've had that for 9 years and cafed it out. I'm looking for an exciting new ride now with this kind of power. If only Triumph put this in a light weight, low seat hight retro. That would be my dream bike.
Not this bike no - he got one of his sponsors to ship him one down for a day, I've got this from Triumph UK....I think our initial conclusions are fairly similar though!
Nice review sir. Possibly add a recommended "options to have" list, ie small windscreen etc, heated grips. No crap bikes these days and any bike that makes you go into the garage and want to go for a ride gets my vote. Crazy power around these days.I test rode the street triple RS , twice recently and hated the tft screen and the joystick control. Glad Triumph have improved these on this bike. On a side note just ordered the KTM 890R, due April, which has similar switch gear to this Triumph! Just hoping I don't end up using the warranty too much, as I think the factory is now in China. Similar to Triumph, Asia?
Hooray, at last, excellent weather to drive my bike; around 16°C. I’ll make my first ride for this year in the coming days. Lots of bikes on the roads yesterday but I did a 30km bicycle ride; also my first for this year. Instruments look a bit small; I’ll need my glasses. I don’t like the headlight so close to the tft screen. Bigger headlight could improve that. I fear that the back wheel mudguard won’t keep you dry and clean. The bike will be very dirty. More upright seating position is good, especially when you get older. I’ve ridden one, two and four cylinder bikes but never rode a triple. No luggage capacity, no weather protection. Not a bike for longer tours. Nice for commuting, shorter trips without passenger.

Excellent! Thanks for the kit run down. Best channel on TH-cam.
Wow, thanks - I don't believe it but appreciate the sentiment!
Single clock looks good. And a fuel gauge! Bike sounds nice and seems to go ok. As you said, engine not as turbine like as the Street Triple but still goes ok. And NO keyless ignition.. What's not to like? Just needs a tail tidy, Like every other UK bike.
Good honest review really enjoy videos thanks very much
Great review and loved how you pointed out the Red Kite. I've never seen one though I have seen a loot of Black kites
Good to see some confidence inspiring tyres put on as standard for a change! Great review. That bike will sell by the bucket load.
Yes, great in the wet in particular!
I have been looking forwards to this review. I like the look of the Trident. Love the TFT dash. I agreed on the number plate hanger though. I bet R&G and Evotech have this in their sights though. I great review as usual. Well done Andy.
Yes I bet!
Sadly not as Yamaha don't "do" TH-camrs......bizarrely!
@@TheMissendenFlyer That is bizarre. I guess with 250K sales they don't need the extra publicity? Strange attitude though. You'll have to get a loaner from a mate!
Great review Andy! 👏 haha nice wheelie 🤣
Thank you sir - a little homage to yourself, so glad you got to experience it with me....hair raising as you can imagine!
Another great video. I may be odd, but I like the back end - slick & ‘GS-like’ (I have a GS & love that look too). A seat cowl & whip off the pillion pegs would complete the look. Keep up the good work 👍
Fair enough!
The review I’ve been waiting for! Thanks TMF
Thanks for another ride in proxy, It's great to "get out" on a bike again, especially this one which I intend to try when conditions allow. :>)
Whats the point in that front mudguard?
Err, to stop the mud???
I think the comment is relating to how small it is, hardly anything will be stopped from coming of the tyres onto the exhaust/engine area
I think triumph will sell loads of these, I think it looks a better allrounder than the MT07,Z650, it’s not ugly and keenly priced. Have to agree the sports bike shop are awesome.
Yes I reckon they’re into a winner here...
First out with a full review that I’ve seen, well done Andy. Many options available which push the price up a lot, I wonder what the Goldilocks spec is for you?
I have to add, that TMF reviews are really good too. If I want to know about any bike i always check if TMF has a video on it...
Great review sounds good love the style just not sure about the back end
Nice to see you out keeping us sane thanks Andy 👍👍🏍🏍
Thanks 👍
Great bike! Looking forward to passing my licence (after this crazy pandemic) and getting one of these for a first big bike! Also can't wait for more in depth reviews
Love your videos! ❤️
Thank you - best of luck and stay tuned!
Plandemic. It will never end.
btw, I prebooked the Trident in December, it's arriving next month, here in India. Can't wait to ride my 2nd bike,
5 months back purchased Duke 390,
3rd bike would be a 2021 V4 Streetfighter but only if it has Granturismo 1158cc engine
@@chirag4 you lucky git! Super jealous but at the same time I'm happy for you 🤣👌🏽
@@KppG-dn6zf thanks brother for the wishes
Wishing u too a bike of your dreams
Agreed!
mr flyer its a nice little bike ideal for commuting on the tail light assembly lets it down would look better with a tail tidy
I've been waiting for you to do a review on this bike. Really like the depth you go to with your long term bikes. Look forward to a potential review of the new speed triple maybe. Cheers dude ✌
It's on the list for sure!
Sportsbikeshop are absolutely fantastic!
Always First place I look for my bike gear :)
Andy, Thanks for the review. Well done on missing that crater at 18 mins. 45 secs., loving the Red Kite photo bombing the fashion section at 23 mins. Regarding the not so good turning circle on this and the Street Triple, which bikes have a better turning circle? When covering headlamp performance could you compare it to the twin headlamp setup on your Street Triple please?
looks like a well priced fun little triple !✌👍 thanks for the your first impression's look forward to upcoming videos !
Stay tuned!
Any idea when you might be getting the new Speed RS ?
I'm told April - which likely means you won't actually see it here for a few months yet....sorry!
@@TheMissendenFlyer Thx for the reply in no rush at present, might be looking to change around June..not made my mind up yet 🤔
Great looking bike, agree on the odd look of that rear signals/plate piece (plus can't help but wonder how quickly they'd get covered in dirt and make the signal lights redundant). Love the mention to red kites too! Always keeping my eyes out for them when riding in those ends.
You don't normally have to look too far, they're everywhere!
Good review. But camera quality I thought was very dark picture especially on your new bar mounted camera. Huge difference in brightness when u switch to iPhone. Still enjoyed it 🤷🏼
Carrots.... that's the cure!
A lot of good bikes in this segment, I'm not keen on the rear numberplate mud guard thingie either but otherwise very nice. 😊
Neither can I - alas COVID has pretty much stopped play on the RE front.....
I would love to see your review of the new 2021 Moto Guzzi V7.
One of my riding mates has one of these on order, with a tentative delivery date of March 26th. I've just sent him the link to this video to torture him, heh, heh, heh. 😈
AMAZING AND INFORMATIVE THANK YOU 💯
This bike goes straight to the top of the middleweight naked class.
I like it but can't forgive that scorpion rear end. Good review again thanks Andy.
Another great 1st ride review, looking forward to the long term ones, really nice looking bike 👍👍👍👍
More to come - stay tuned Pete!
Many thanks
Its a GoPro 9 - and this bike doesn't have the connectivity stuff enabled (plus I;m not interested in it tbh)
Thanks. I understand but thought you might have mentioned it as an option for those who might. I was interested in the bar mount system rather than the actual camera. It looks like a convenient one for switching to other positions on the bike?
@@sprintman62 Yes it is - just an E-Bay special, works well...
Another good honest review, definitely cant wait for lockdown to end so i can get me bike out , fingers crossed for today
29th March looks like it might be the date we are finally allowed out on our bikes again.
Can't come soon enough - desperate to ride my new Goldwing!!
Thanks for watching!
lord missenden gets first ride;;;; youve made it in life;;
Listening to the engine note as you rode,I get the impression that the gearing is low hence the feeling of high torque.
Great vid. Waiting patiently for my pre-order...
Congratulations Danny!
Andy why do you think all bikes don’t mount the reg plate like that? It looks so much better! Love the channel mate.
Andy when you review helmet can you tell us what its like other than price and colours? How quiet at speed and comfortable would be really useful. Thanks
Much anticipated review from TMF😀 👍
The 660 reminds me so much of my 09' 675 Stripple. I loved that bike and had it for about 5 years. I might be getting this bike for having fun with. I'm more practical now and am more attractive to retro bikes now. I just sold my 2012 Bonnie. I've had that for 9 years and cafed it out. I'm looking for an exciting new ride now with this kind of power. If only Triumph put this in a light weight, low seat hight retro. That would be my dream bike.
Maybe wait until you see my review comparing this to the Honda CB650R and my 2012 Street Triple (coming late March)...
didn't Chopsie review this last week?
Not this bike no - he got one of his sponsors to ship him one down for a day, I've got this from Triumph UK....I think our initial conclusions are fairly similar though!
Well done. This will be a popular bike, and review as well. 👍
Cheers!
The 890 is still made in Austria.
