I have to admit that sometimes I buy art supplies just for the sake of it. To own something brand new, to enjoy the process of choosing and purchasing and witnessing the product wrapped up, unstained and perfect. And sometimes it just turns into a sort of hoardering when I buy more than I need or just forget that I already own something or I tell myself that it's a gift for a fellow artist. And the way that you mention in the beggining that you had it for a long time but only opened it now after completing a few challenges is very refreshing and sobering. Also, the way you use your supplies with no limits and backthought is really inpiring. Thank you!
I saved the last few of your videos for this weekend so I can “watch & swatch” my paints. I have been researching for multi media to add to my watercolors. I spent all day on Jackson’s looking (just looking😊) so this video was timely. Thank you for this year and all that you have shared ❤
I cannot believe you held onto that package for 6 months!! What an amazing treat to have waiting for yourself!! I definitely enjoy working with mixed media. For myself, my base is usually watercolour or gouache and then I add colour pencil, pastel pencil or neocolour IIs. I love Natasha Newton’s swatching sessions to see new colours/brands; her videos are soothing. Another person who does similar ‘calming’ swatching videos like that is Helen Cryer. She has made a lot of very comprehensive product / brand / colour comparison videos in a relatively short time on TH-cam.
The Stilman & Burn sketchbooks are my favorite, as my kinda rough/workhorse book. The paper surprisingly takes every medium quite well - even watercolor washes. But I also use a legit watercolor sketchbook for “real” watercolors. Having the two together is the perfect complement.
I even made myself second urban sketching bag for when I want to go full blown mixed media: with watercolor markers, pencils, all kinds of pens, neocolors, poscas and a small watercolor palette
A lot of interesting new supplies!😍 I also love the Neocolors2 for my mixed media artworks. Love working mixed media because I can use a lot of my beloved supplies together ❤
I love all the schmincke tundras. That violet is BEE-YOU-TI-FULL. Unfortunately I'm poor ppl so I got a sample set of then (like less than a quarter pan) and now I'm all out. Please paint with it so i can live vicariously through you 😂😂❤
Oh my gosh -- those CD Luminance pencils are my DREAM. I want a whole set (because of course), but can't really justify it. I have a ton of other colored pencils. I might pick up a few open stock from Crackson's (I also cannot resist a Payne's Gray). I'm excited that you bought the NeoColor 1 crayons as well -- I feel like those are criminally underrated. A lot of my work is accidentally mixed media. I'll finish a piece, and it doesn't look quiiite the way I wanted, so I'll add another medium. I like alcohol markers + colored pencils, watercolors + fineliners, and gouache + everything, since that matte surface is so friendly for everything. Fantastic haul!
I have used inks on top of my watercolours. I adore Roman Szmal watercolours I actually watched your swatching videos to choose my palette, my favourites are misty morning, autumn green, sea blue, cobalt teal, mineral violet, shadow violet and ocean blue.
I support stocking up on sketchbooks and paper 😂👏🏼 man I'm dying for roman szmal to release their paint in tubes I need some of my favorite colors in tubes 😩 so far my favorite Prussian blue is by roman szmal 🥰
Oooohh, pritty colourzzz! I guess I do some mixed media, but I don't necessarily think of it that way? I'm not even sure. Enjoy those Luminance pencils! They are so lovely, but quite a bit different from the Polychromos. I prefer softer pencils like Luminance, Prismacolor.
@@SketchesnScrubs very true I start outdoor painting 1st time few days ago n it was quite intimidating with gouache. But I realised then micron pens n a smaller size sketchbook worked perfectly well along with Winsor and Newton field set. That made me comfortable. Just love ur works dear. They r awesome keep it up 😊👍👍
I use watercolors mostly, with acrylic inks at times. I want to get some colored pencils and watercolor crayons, but they are costly and there are too many choices! 😊
I see you have overcome the fear of wasting supplies. ❤ enjoy your haul. Just a few weeks ago, I also bought a few greens an earths to expand my 40 set of Neocolor 2. They are fun to work with.
@@SketchesnScrubs I had to dowsize my art supplies so I left neocolors 2 at home, but I will do some landscapes when I return. I love the work of Sandy Hester and Katie Moody, so I might do some works in their styles with gouache and neocolor 2. I am fine, I have returned to work, currently on summer break. I am slowly getting back into my work. But also I am waiting for second surgery.
@@SketchesnScrubs yes I am, usually we have rather active summer, but this year I had to stay away from the sun so there were days that I stayed in the house while my husband took our daughter to the beach this week. I did drive to my mother's home but I did rest there plenty. I took lot of rest, I just feel that some days are just bad, phesgo has some sideeffects, like nausea, fatigue, bowel issues. So I had no choice but to take it easy. Combined with hiding from the sun, I spent half of the vacation in a caffee by the sea painting 😀
Those Roman S colors are lovely but I am resisting the temptation. :) I like using watercolor with watercolor pencils, watercolor crayons, and pen and ink. So I guess that's mixed media?
Loved seeing what you bought, it would be interesting to see how different the neo 1s are compared to the 2s when used dry and not activated. The luminance are so amazing! I am lucky and have the whole set and they work really nicely with the derwent lightfast as well I find.
I love a good art haul video! I am waiting on my latest Jacksons order from the Riman Szmal sale and i can't wait! I had some birthday miney to spend 😊 I have a but left and am trying to decide which Luminence colors to get so your swatches helped a lot!
I'm trying to get into mixed media (lord knows I have enough different mediums to use) but I think I'm unsure on where to start. I know pencils are the most versatile in terms of layering on top of other mediums (acrylic, watercolour, alcohol marker) and so are chalk pastels so maybe I just need to get some pages from a colouring book and try them out? I have full set syndrome so I have a lot of colours to work with, might be an idea for me to start putting together limited palettes to use instead of getting decision fatigue
Hello dear Sketches! You bought CD Luminance pencils 🥳🎉 I love them! They are so smooth to work with without the crumbling of Prismacolor Premier pencils. I have the CD Luminance Portrait set and 20 assortment set. I don’t have full set syndrome 😉 so I’m very happy with the selection I have. Earlier this year I bought some Derwent Lighfast pencils (not full set) and Derwent Drawing set of 12. The Derwent pencils are smooth but firm. The FC Polychromos are great for adding details over the Luminance, Lightfast, and Drawing pencils. I tend not to work with mixed media. However I have done some mixed media work (coloring pencils and soft pastels) to fix problems on my watercolor paintings 🤣! Another art supply I sometimes use are watercolor pencils. I have used them on their own and I use them on my watercolor paintings. Enjoy your new supplies. I’m excited for you. 😊❤
I love mixed media. I’m a watercolour painter but I’ve recently started using gouache (I need some tips from you 😅) and I have a serious collection of coloured pencils (prisma colour and more) and I’m seriously in love with the luminance pencils (I can see how addictive they are, I only have a few colours and I don’t use them enough but keep looking at them thinking I need to use them soon 😂
I am experimenting with Derwent products. Today I received Derwent Graphitint pencils. I also have Derwent Inktense blocks. Next I’m going to try the Inktense pencils. So yes I am a multimedia artist.
Lovely haul haven't been to certain channels for a whole while but definitely love it .I'm going into more profesisonal watercolours and your just showing me in more ways then 1 why I should be choosing Roman schzmal it's pricy plates by us in South Africa but definitely worth the buy how do you get in contact with the company if I may ask
Thanks for watching, at the moment the ones I travel with are in the 15 set. In the studio I’ve justtt got a meeden chest drawers which has the extras/ duplicates and have a small plastic drawer organiser cube that has my most frequently used on my desk xx

I haven't had any problems with mould either, I have with gouache but never watercolours.

Definitely all about the mixed media, especially with loose watercolors.
Omg love your nature mixed media pieces shown at circa 5mins such a beautiful style!
The floral paintings are very beautiful and the art haul is impressive, pretty hair lady 😊😊
So glad I found this channel!
I’m glad too! I hope that you enjoy it xx

Great video. I’ve dabbled in mixed media. Mostly pencils and watercolors and markers and watercolors.
Nice art supplies haul! Yes, I’ve done mixed media pieces before. I’m trying to do it a little more now.
