This year, I kind of feel like Stefanski has given up. He's had decent success with Baker and Flacco, but it feels like the owners are making him play Watson, as a result Stefanski might be saying fuck it. He's a good coach, and I like him, but I think he's had enough there.

Prior to that, his rookie season was at the time one of the best ever and took the Browns from 1-31 across the two seasons before him to 7-8-1 with him under center. The year the Browns got rid of him, he was playing with an injured shoulder that I'm pretty sure team staff refused to correctly rehabilitate. He's as much of a franchise quarterback as they've had in this century.

This contract and his injury should basically bankrupt this organization, but when all is said and done, it will not. The craziest thing about this is that Deshaun Watson is STILL ranked #6 in highest career passer rating in NFL HISTORY. That's after he's dropped slightly the past couple of years. Supposedly the Texans implemented an offense similar to Watson's college offense and Stefanski refused to do the same, with all the injuries and suspensions, I guess he just never got the chance to learn a pro style offense. Honestly one of the craziest career arcs in nfl history. This year is just so full of examples reminding us that QB's are HIGHLY dependent on their surroundings. You cannot take a qb out of one situation, put him in another, and expect the same results. The NFL also needs to go back to the days of sitting their rookie qb's for a year or two instead of throwing them into the fire immediately. Yeah SOME rookies keep up but most don't and then they get shat on for sucking when a lot of them simply need more development. Go back and look at Josh Allen's or Lamar Jackson's rookie years vs. later years. These are two of the most talented QB's in the league and they were mediocre as rookies.

I grew up around Detroit and moved to Cleveland about 8 years ago. Needles to say I’ve seen 40+ years of bad football up close. Seeing the Lions finally start to turn their franchise around really shows the ineptitude of The Browns.

I using root for underdog teams, but after they keep making terrible decision like its a competition and they did so many players dirty, i became a hater. I remember some random clip where they said they didnt need odell only for odell to get a ring at the rams. Dallas, kc (they have so many toxic people associated with them), and the browns are the teams i always cheer for the other team. I eased up a bit for kc. Kermit is pretty cool.

I think Stefanski was being forced to start him. So he's probably getting fired after this year.
Haslam actually had something special here and his meddling has blown it up so badly that a huge chunk of what was an unshakably loyal fanbase is so done that we don't care if they move the team out of Cleveland again.
I'm a Bucs fan until he either dies or sells the team. He's the new Dan Snyder. Fuck Haslam.

4:36 God, remember when Osweiler's $16M AAV contract was discussed as a critical mistake? An albatross that would set the Texans back years, and Houston had to trade away a 2nd round pick alongside him just to get rid of it? Now Trevor Lawrence gets paid $55M AAV to be mediocre and nobody even cares. It's crazy how much the financial side has changed in the last 10 years.

Because the rich have gotten far richer since obama decided to print Infinity money to save the housing crash and banking crash in 2010. Now we didn't see inflation because most of that liquidity ( money) was just sent to the rich. Keeping the debt bubble growing and having money flow between the rich is how the system works, they screwed up sending us money during covid.

I just don’t think this situation was completely unknown. Like, predator behavior escalates over time. Watson had to be doing some shenanigans in Clemson. It just makes sense. Maybe not to the same severity as we have heard recently, but he was probably building up to what we know now.
