It's crazy how 8 minutes into this video the biggest thing that pops off to me is how the New England Patriots could have had Clay Matthews instead of trading with Green Bay
The LA/Detroit trade should be studied by execs, coaches, and scouts for a generation to come. No small part of why Detroit fared so well was their scouting department who has been elite at finding quality players in the draft, the picks panned out in no small part because of them. If anything Goff was a bonus to the trade, the fact he worked out was both a pleasant surprise and also something still in the range of expected outcomes given his pedigree thus far, he just needed a solid environment and he found that on a team eager to prove themselves. LA's success was immediate and relatively self-evident. I won't say Detroit *won* the trade, but the fact the trade worked to their benefit as much as it did was the result of a lot of savvy.
As a Rams and Goff fan, I'm so happy for his success. I never got the hate he got when playing for the Rams. I love watching the Lions play. I hope they go far
Feel bad for Alex Smith.... Was really a great QB but was always viewed as less even when his numbers and pro bowls said otherwise.... Was on a solid team TWICE and doing well both times.... There was nobody on any network even discussing benching him.... Really playing great ball... And a young QB comes in and has a hot performance when he is out.... Ends up in Washington.... Breaks his leg and goes on a 2 yr journey with like 50 surgeries on it and infection and muscle removal...... Makes a comeback and plays in front of his children once more before retiring.... 😢

The Groper Cleveland trade was probably the worst they traded away there future talent there franchise QB and gave away all there cap space for a guy who can't even throw for more than 300 yards in a game or win a game for that matter. It showed how bad of an owner Jimmy Haslam is and that the future of the Browns is gonna be back to sucking for probably the next 10 years. The worst trade of all time was the Herschel Walker trade thanks Vikings due to your incompetence. we got to listen to every Cowboys fan talk about how great the 90s were and "how bout them Cowboys". Yet still, after that dumb trade, people still do stupid trades cause there are a lot of stupid owners and gm's, I guess. Edit: I see alot of people saying the Groper Cleveland trade was the worst, but as a Cleveland fan, almost all of our trades or signing whatever have sucked. Like Bobby Mitchell to the Skins infavorer for Ernie Davis who didn't play cause of Cancer rip. Oh, and after that, we didn't resign Jim Brown. We also got rid of Ernst Byner only to watch carve the league up and win a ring, releasing Alex Mack, trading TJ Ward, whiffing on almost all of our 2010-2020 draft picks, drafting Tim Coach who wasn't mobile at all compared to McNabb, passing on Brady, trading down in the 2011 draft. Trading away hall of famer Paul Warfield for a 1st round draft pick that we wasted, along with trying to overpay for A.J. McCarron. Signing Andre Rison to a stupid amount of money, releasing Bernie Kosar, trading for Corey Williams, Signing Jeff Garcia, Signing Kenny Britt, and basically almost all free agents have sucked for the Browns or had little impact. And much, much more. Ever since Paul Brown was fired, we have been in a dying state.
I think the Watson trade is the worst, because the Browns are going to be stuck either with him, or the dead cap caused by him, at least in the Hershel Walker trade, there was no salary cap implemented at the time, so it was easier to get rid of him.
The browns have fared worse by far than the vikings did. Threw away a franchise qb in baker, turned the texans from a dumpster fire to contender overnight, and are absolutely fucked on the salary cap for the next 2 years. The vikings missed the playoffs 2 years, had 1 losing season, and then made the playoffs nearly every year for a decade
I guess the general rule of thumb here is don’t trade for a Philly QB. McNabb was cooked, and the Eagles got Nate Allen (above average safety who only left due to a better deal from Oakland) and Nick Foles (his 27-2 season was pretty special + his later Super Bowl) Bradford turned into Derek Barnett who recovered the Brady fumble in the Superbowl and Sweat who is an above average DE. Wentz turned into a pair of pro-bowl WRs in AJ Brown and Smith, a potential All Pro DT in Jalen Carter and potentially another starter in Cooper DeJean.
wentz being with reid will resucitate his career. sitting on the bench is helping him. sometimes serious knee injuries take years to get right. if mahomes is ever hurt, watch wentz win them a supe. wentz was special when he was healthy
As a niners fan I always look back at Alex Smith I can’t help but smile His career was so dramatic and yet his prime was underrated and his leadership and ability to adapt is unmatched
It’s still funny seeing Aaron Rodgers following in Brett Favre’s footsteps with the move to NYJ, if he goes to Minnesota after NYJ, it’ll be the funniest thing ever.
If I remember right, Washington didn’t have a #1 WR when McNabb got there. They had Santana Moss who was a slot WR playing #1 and Chris Cooley at TE who retired not long after… Shanahan needed someone to blame for losing all those close games that year so they threw McNabb under the bus. After all he did for the Eagles when he was young and in his prime, McNabb deserved 1 more year in Philly with Jeremy Maclin, D Jack, Brent Celek and Shady.
Thanks for the UFL 2009-2012 mention! That league meant a lot to me during some rough years. I’ve always rooted for the underdogs. Anyway, great video!
Sean Peyton doesn't get the criticism he deserves for the Russel Wilson situation. Coaches are supposed to put their players in a position to succeed. Not take a QB who built a HOF career on scrambling and improvising, then stuff him into a precise timing, pocket passing system. Not to mention the scapegoating that went on.
As a lifelong Packer fan and Wisconsin resident, I can tell you that the Mississippi welfare scandal, 'duck' pics, and trump endorsement are everything you need to know about Brett Favre's character.
As a lifelong Bears fan, I hated him, but still respected him because of how good he was. Not anymore. The same goes for Rodgers as well after his anti-vax witchdoctor bs.
@ Rodgers can make his own medical choices, whether or not you’d do the same. Favre, on the other hand, committed fraud and sexual harassment. Those are crimes, not opinions.
The pre-2000 one for me is John Hadl to the Packers. We gave up way too much for an aging qb and it probably hurt his chances to get into the Hall Of Fame! Thanks for another great video!
Eh idk if you can say they were all duds at 11:11 There was like 3 trades involved with that 2010 First Rounder but they eventually ended up with Demaryius Thomas
I knew Mcnabb was a dummy from his wonderlic score but I was shocked when I saw him away from Andy Reid, it was like he forgot (or rather never knew) how to play QB. I understood why he wasnt afraid to trade him to Washington. Props to Andy Reid btw for getting the most of out his QBs. Mcnabb, Alex Smith, Michael Vick, Favre, and Mahommes. We’ve seen what happens when he gets a hold of great ones but we also saw how he was able to elevate the ones that weren’t quite there.
ding ding ding ding!!!! you are the winner!!!! btw...mcnabb never knew how to play qb. without reud he wouldve been a collossal bust. we shouldve drafted akili smith
McNabb carried the eagles on his back, and they traded him like it was his fault. 14 season with Andy Reid, and they couldn't win. Now, his is one of the best coaches in the NFL. 🤷🏿♂️
I know this is supposed to be pre-2000, but there’s one trade in 1998 that is worth mentioning. The Chargers moved up from 3 to 2 to take Ryan Leaf. It cost them Their first and second in 1998, their first in 1999, and Pro Bowl return man Eric Metcalf. The 1998 first was a bust (Andre Wadsworth). But, the 2nd rounder became Pro Bowl CB Corey Chavous and the 1999 first was Pro Bowl WR David Boston. For Ryan Leaf…..
I’ll have to correct you on the Bradford season in 2016. The reason it wasn’t successful is because Adrian Peterson got injured and then our offensive line got destroyed. We were trotting out backups to backups at every position on the line. It got so bad we had to ask Jake Long whose knees were completely shot to come out of retirement to try and buy Bradford more than a second to throw the ball. The reason he led in completion percentage that year was because the offensive coordinator had to call quick pass plays because he couldn’t call long developing plays because Bradford would immediately get killed.
I never really got it either. I kept hearing about his potential in Denver but never really felt like I saw it in action and him comparing himself to John Elway when he hadn't won anything with them didn't help my opinion of him either. I always remember how South Park made fun of him back in the day. "you suck right now, but my dad says you could be good some day"
He had over 4,500 yards his last year in Denver, but the number of interceptions should have been a red flag. That and the fact that Denver was willing to trade him after only his third season. I have to admit that I liked the trade at the time, but yeah, we got fleeced big time.
Deshaun Watson was the worst. No single player has ever had so much money and assets wasted on them. With all the baggage, Watson should have been a discount free agency pickup.
As a giants fan, it’s crazy to me how people forget the Giants were bad 5 years before DJ even got here. Sure the guy isn’t good but we haven’t had a good o line in a decade or even a decent receiving core since the odell days
Lions moved on because Stafford wanted out. Which was totally understandable from his point of view and honestly, it made sense for the Lions as well. I wasn't all that shocked when they announced he asked to be traded. It worked for both teams. Rams got their Super Bowl and the Lions are one of the best teams in the league now and definitely used those picks to help stack their team.
As a broncos fan it’s worth noting that the longtime ownership under the beloved Pat Bowlen had ended, and with his children among others squabbling over the team it went up for sale - with the Wilson trade (they also pursued Rodgers) being a big part of increasing the sale value with the story being sold that this was a buy and win a Super Bowl quickly kind of team if they had an all pro QB
McNabb didn’t just lose a super bowl with the eagles. He partied the week leading up to the big game and was throwing up from dehydration during the second half. Spygate didn’t do shit. If he took that as seriously as he should have eagles would have pulled it out, but he didn’t. What a fraud. Thank God Nick Foles made up for it over a decade later.
Chiefs fan here I got nothing but love and respect for Alex Smith. That guy has been through so much and gave his heart and soul to Kansas City. We can’t thank him enough.
If Alex Smith was the 10th overall pick and not the first, he wouldn’t be looked upon nearly as negatively. All in all, he had an above average career.
the bryce young trade should be here, considering that the status of both young and williams in the draft process could be considered a premature blockbuster trade

It's crazy how 8 minutes into this video the biggest thing that pops off to me is how the New England Patriots could have had Clay Matthews instead of trading with Green Bay
26:16 some of the best drafting from a trade ever
A rare trade where honestly both teams are happy with the results
Your videos always remind me why I was such a massive football fan. You breathe of the spirit of real football, it’s in the smell.
15:55 the browns saw this and thought “yeah let’s hire Hue”
The trade that sent Wentz to Indy was a conditional pick that became a 1st round pick. And they used that pick to eventually trade for AJ Brown. The Eagles ended up fleeting 2 NFC South franchises
As a Giants fan when I saw the "NY" logo I thought of Eli vs Danny Derps as well.
Timestamps:
1:41 - Drew Bledsoe to Buffalo Bills
3:13 - Daunte Culpepper to Miami Dolphins
6:22 - Brett Favre to New York Jets
8:30 - Jay Cutler to Chicago Bears (Honorable Mention: Matt Cassel to Kansas City Chiefs)
11:20 - Donovan McNabb to Washington Redskins
14:06 - Carson Palmer to Oakland Raiders
16:52 - Alex Smith to Kansas City Chiefs
19:00 - Sam Bradford to Vikings
21:36 - Jimmy Garoppolo to 49ers
24:15 - Matt Stafford to LA Rams
26:26 - Carson Wentz to Indianapolis Colts and Washington Commanders
28:37 - Russell Wilson to Denver Broncos
30:06 - Deshawn Watson to Cleveland Browns
33:27 - Matt Ryan to Indianapolis Colts
34:25 - Aaron Rodgers to New York Jets
Brees and Brady in the same division would have been so awesome
*prime Brees & Brady
I guess the general rule of thumb here is don’t trade for a Philly QB.
McNabb was cooked, and the Eagles got Nate Allen (above average safety who only left due to a better deal from Oakland) and Nick Foles (his 27-2 season was pretty special + his later Super Bowl)
Bradford turned into Derek Barnett who recovered the Brady fumble in the Superbowl and Sweat who is an above average DE.
As a niners fan I always look back at Alex Smith I can’t help but smile
His career was so dramatic and yet his prime was underrated and his leadership and ability to adapt is unmatched
It’s still funny seeing Aaron Rodgers following in Brett Favre’s footsteps with the move to NYJ, if he goes to Minnesota after NYJ, it’ll be the funniest thing ever.
We should’ve known about McNabb in Washington. If you can’t look competent at QB with the Shanahans then it’s time to hang it up.
BLESSED DAY!!
As a browns fan it’s Deshaun without a doubt
Sean Peyton doesn't get the criticism he deserves for the Russel Wilson situation.
Coaches are supposed to put their players in a position to succeed. Not take a QB who built a HOF career on scrambling and improvising, then stuff him into a precise timing, pocket passing system. Not to mention the scapegoating that went on.
As a lifelong Packer fan and Wisconsin resident, I can tell you that the Mississippi welfare scandal, 'duck' pics, and trump endorsement are everything you need to know about Brett Favre's character.
Also cheating on his wife
As a lifelong Bears fan, I hated him, but still respected him because of how good he was. Not anymore. The same goes for Rodgers as well after his anti-vax witchdoctor bs.
@ Rodgers can make his own medical choices, whether or not you’d do the same. Favre, on the other hand, committed fraud and sexual harassment. Those are crimes, not opinions.
Whiney soy libs
Calling Jay Cutler Mediocre is crazy disrespectful, thats the greatest bears QB of all time.
1 Cutler
2 McMahon
3 Grossman
4 Douglass
5 Fields/ Trubisky
If Justin fields and Money Mitch are in the top 5 then I’m pretty sure the 4 in front of them are mediocre
Sid Luckman enters chat.
The Goat has uploaded 💯💯
You always bring the quality content, been a fan for years. Love to see it!
Perfect Thursday night prewatch to a shootout between 2 of the best QBs rn🔥🔥
The pre-2000 one for me is John Hadl to the Packers. We gave up way too much for an aging qb and it probably hurt his chances to get into the Hall Of Fame! Thanks for another great video!
Going to see your Browns play Thursday night against my Steelers! Thanks for your content bro man
Woo was waiting for the next upload 😎👍
Eh idk if you can say they were all duds at 11:11
There was like 3 trades involved with that 2010 First Rounder but they eventually ended up with Demaryius Thomas
Wow, no Jordan Love highlight I guess
Imo, one if your best videos ever. One of my faves along with the Hue Jackson vid.
We’ve seen what happens when he gets a hold of great ones but we also saw how he was able to elevate the ones that weren’t quite there.
ding ding ding ding!!!! you are the winner!!!! btw...mcnabb never knew how to play qb. without reud he wouldve been a collossal bust. we shouldve drafted akili smith
reid elevated aj feely (an many others)....miami traded for feely and paid him starters money. feely was a backup in college lol
It’s funny how Favre went to the jets after leaving from the packers, then arod
Hopefully we'll see Rodgers in Minnesota next year to complete things.
@ lol he won’t, they’ll have McCarthy back and Sam as backup buy it would be cool
@Landon.25 😂😂😂
You ain't lying! They saw Rodgers go to the Jets and said, "Oh hell no! We are NOT repeating that history! Get a QB now!"
SAC STATE MENTIONED 🔥🔥🔥 stingers up
0:52 football… is what? everywhere I go… IT… haunts me…
This video was amazing!
Love ur vids KTO, keep up the good work. God bless.
McNabb carried the eagles on his back, and they traded him like it was his fault.
14 season with Andy Reid, and they couldn't win. Now, his is one of the best coaches in the NFL. 🤷🏿♂️
Watson will go down as the worst trade/deal in the history of sports
you missed 2018 Alex Smith to Washington and 2022 Carson Wentz to Washington, both disasters!
Neither of those were really “blockbuster” I’d say. But it’s only a matter of opinion.
Alex Smith didn't do too bad in DC - still beloved in some ways
@@nickimbasciani7920 They had Matt Ryan to Colts, that definitely wasn't blockbuster.
did you even watch the video ? 2018 Alex Smith is at 17:01
2022 Carson Wentz is at 26:35
@@HonchoHarley that's Smith to KC and Wentz to Colts. smh! did you even watch the video?
Isn’t Aaron Rodger’s situation the exact same as Brett Favre’s? Leaving from the Packers to the Jets around 40 years old.
Only difference I guess is that Rodgers wanted to only go to the Jets and Favre didn’t really care, he just wanted off the Packers.
0:52 WHILE FOOTBALL IS STILL WHAT?!
Among us
@ AMOGUS
I know this is supposed to be pre-2000, but there’s one trade in 1998 that is worth mentioning. The Chargers moved up from 3 to 2 to take Ryan Leaf. It cost them Their first and second in 1998, their first in 1999, and Pro Bowl return man Eric Metcalf. The 1998 first was a bust (Andre Wadsworth). But, the 2nd rounder became Pro Bowl CB Corey Chavous and the 1999 first was Pro Bowl WR David Boston.
For Ryan Leaf…..
Carson palmers demands weren't more money, they were what any ceo would do to turn a company around. The owner just said no. Wow lol.
Rams lions was a great organization trade everybody won
I’ll have to correct you on the Bradford season in 2016. The reason it wasn’t successful is because Adrian Peterson got injured and then our offensive line got destroyed. We were trotting out backups to backups at every position on the line. It got so bad we had to ask Jake Long whose knees were completely shot to come out of retirement to try and buy Bradford more than a second to throw the ball. The reason he led in completion percentage that year was because the offensive coordinator had to call quick pass plays because he couldn’t call long developing plays because Bradford would immediately get killed.
desharvey watstein will never play again
9:14 we gave up THAT much for Jay freakin cutler?
I never really got it either. I kept hearing about his potential in Denver but never really felt like I saw it in action and him comparing himself to John Elway when he hadn't won anything with them didn't help my opinion of him either. I always remember how South Park made fun of him back in the day. "you suck right now, but my dad says you could be good some day"
Damn
Denver though didn’t exactly turn their draft picks into a bargain
I didn’t start watching the bears till 2010 so I didn’t realize what we gave up for him
He had over 4,500 yards his last year in Denver, but the number of interceptions should have been a red flag. That and the fact that Denver was willing to trade him after only his third season. I have to admit that I liked the trade at the time, but yeah, we got fleeced big time.
Love your video KTO and keep up the great work you are awesome
Bills getting Jerry Hughes for Kelvin Sheppard was a steal
Ending the video with a Jordan Love highlight is *chefs kiss*
Deshaun Watson was the worst. No single player has ever had so much money and assets wasted on them. With all the baggage, Watson should have been a discount free agency pickup.
137 million was the biggest contract in nfl history?!? Crazy how much things have changed
If Favre never tore his bicep and rotator cuff, I fully believe the Jets make the AFC Championship game that year
I had no idea this was a new video 🤣 ive been watching it for at least 20 minutes now
Best outro ever.
As a giants fan, it’s crazy to me how people forget the Giants were bad 5 years before DJ even got here. Sure the guy isn’t good but we haven’t had a good o line in a decade or even a decent receiving core since the odell days
Packers getting Mathew’s and raji by giving up farve is amazing for that organization
Especially given Matthew’s game-changing forced fumble in SB 45.
Should we consider the Watson trade being worse than Ricky Williams' and Hershel Walker's?
Yes.
The Stafford Goff trade is the best trade of all time, both fitting their new teams and coaches better and bringing success.
Broncos: "I can't believe we made the worst trade ever. Well almost... Thank God you're here so nobody talks about us"
Browns: "..."
Funny how these allegers are people you wouldn't sleep with in the first place.....just going after that money grab
Video started off with some “Narcos” music 😂 … and I loved it lol
Chiefs fan here I got nothing but love and respect for Alex Smith. That guy has been through so much and gave his heart and soul to Kansas City. We can’t thank him enough.
If Alex Smith was the 10th overall pick and not the first, he wouldn’t be looked upon nearly as negatively. All in all, he had an above average career.
the bryce young trade should be here, considering that the status of both young and williams in the draft process could be considered a premature blockbuster trade
I was in Disney World when the Bledsoe to Buffalo trade happened. I was in line for a ride when I overheard a couple dads talking about Bledsoe getting traded and I asked "Where?" and when they told me Buffalo I was convinced they were joking since it'd be within the division.
I still don't get how it's Matt Ryan's fault the Falcons blew the lead in the Superbowl
I think it is funny that Daniel Jones looks like the guy who would play Eli Manning in a movie.
Bro that’s a perfect description lol
The irony of the Draft Day film is perplexing, confounding, and absurd.
33:02 no alleged, he did it. He paid the ladies off, innocent men don’t do that.
When u here this voice u no it’s boutta be a banger
How could an NFL franchise in a cold weather location not have an indoor practice facility until 2022. That is INSANE.
The seat geek promo code came in clutch for me a few weeks ago for the IU Washington game
