2020-2023 was a epic few years in Tampa. Yes, I am a Tampa resident so obviously I'm hyped about everything that happened. Bucs win Super Bowl. Lightning win Stanley Cup. Rays go to World Series. Rowdies make it to USL Championship. Lightning win Second Stanley Cup. Bucs almost made it to another Super Bowl. Lightning make 3rd straight Finals. Sadly loose. No, didnt win them all. But crazy that 2020 all Tampa teams made it to their respective championship game.

Then, winning the Super Bowl, created a new generation of Bucs fan. Brady will always be a Buccaneer Legend.

It's actually not. It was incidental and refs give more leeway on goal line tackles like that. If Sorensen had done anything else it would've been a touchdown.
It's not just that, they DID throw a flag, but PICKED IT UP we have never recovered since and it's only looking worse for us as our only "decent" QB is Watson
That play is the reason why I hated Kansas City and believed that the refs favored them before that game I was meh on them after that game I hated them and the flag should of been called in the NCAA they would have called that and upheld the helmet to helmet call
Brady had one of the hardest roads on paper to a superbowl, he had to go through brees, rodgers, and mahomes. Heinicke was the closest to beating them that run though
The funniest part of Washington winning the division with 7-9 is that out of all the teams that went against the eventual super bowl winners they were the only ones who even came close to beating them
@@RBSmada you're right my memory was just rusted, what I meant was that they put up a much much better fight against them than the Chiefs did in the super bowl
Look, I don't think it's stated enough that a dude who doesn't play QB has 24 - 48 hours to become a starting QB, expected to throw a ball (so no trick play scenario here), and STILL managed to complete even one pass against actual NFL talent is incredibly impressive.
But let a Pat's fan, not a biased hater like Perna, tell you how it happened. They only needed a FG to tie, so with 25 seconds on the clock, there was still a chance, a long completion, a penalty etc. Slim, but a chance. Belifraud-who had coached the entire game to lose, letting Henry run for a 100 first half yards while defending against the pass (Tannehil? Really?) well he has Edelman back to field the punt-another chance there, he was an excellent returner....he then pulls him back to the line so the punt just hits the ground, rolls to the two yard line and takes 11 second off the clock. As this is happening the camera cuts to Belifraud already taking his headset off. Brady tries a pass from the two and it was picked because the entire D is sitting on a shirtish sideline pass which was the only thing he could really try. And for some time the belifraud bobos were ragging on Brady, and are still eating crow from his SB win four years later. That's the full story from someone who was at the game.

The Bears didn’t deserve to go into the playoffs granted, but they still got in there despite their struggles.
Thank you for actually noting that Higgins got fouled on what would have been a TD in the Browns-Chiefs game. The Chiefs then went on to get a field goal before halftime, making it a huge swing. If that penalty is called, it's 16-10 Chiefs at halftime, instead of 19-3 Chiefs at halftime, and the Browns quite possibly win.

Probably the Saddest Season to be a Sports Fan. Watched a New Zealand Rugby Match that Summer with a full crowd and cried because I haven't seen something like that since March that year
As a 49ers fan, this was a cursed year. fresh off a Super Bowl loss they fell victim to injuries and players testing positive for covid. it was so bad by the time the played the packers that year, every skill player that on the 49ers starting roster during the Super Bowl was inactive.
You should’ve gone into more detail about the Saints vs. Bucs that season. Saints absolutely mollywhopped them in the first two regular season games. And were up most of the game & were driving when Jared cook fumbled on a big gain & all momentum shifted. It was heartbreaking. You should do a video on the saints from 2014-2020. The first 3 years we go 7-9 with great offenses. Then the next 4 years were serious contenders every year, & every year is different playoff heartbreak
I lost my Dad on January 23rd, 2020. We had his memorial service on March 5th (he was cremated, he didn’t want a funeral/burial). A few weeks later, all hell broke loose because of Covid. It was a messed up year for me personally.
@@thatsgoodsports time heals all wounds, it has gotten easier. I still miss him. Me and my now wife got married in his hospital room on January 8th, a couple days after we got the news his pancreatic cancer could not be treated. I signed up for Underdog, used your promo code - only thing that sucks is that they don't allow pick-ems in Kansas (yes I live in Kansas City and it's horrible).
As a life long 49ers fan who has seen two 2-14 seasons in the last 20 years, I'd rather watch every game from both of those seasons than have to relive that bloodbath that was the 2020 season.
Ngl when The Bucs won in Tampa it was like the greatest thing to happen to the city for weeks people were floating around town Tom really did his Magic that year
31:25 thanks for introducing me to new falcons starting cb Kevin king who has ironically been out of the league for multiple years, maybe that was even his most recent play
As a Packers fan, I'm familiar with that. 2014 we absolutely would've beaten the pants off the Patriots in Arizona. 2020 and 2021 were our best chances after that. I'm excited for this season because while I don' wanna get my hopes up too high just yet, I think that this season they at least have the POTENTIAL to get there for sure. Not guaranteeing anything yet, because I'm not Joe Namath.
Horribly like the boy was trying, tyreek just fucked up disrespecting the D in their beat down of Tampa in reg seez, after that when they met again the d said oh hell naw we can’t be abused again! lol I don’t know shit but it’s my butthole oh I mean OPINION!!!!
@zordiark9673 Huh? He literally just dealt with what so many other QB's have too and guess what... he put up zero TD scoring drives and threw three picks.
2017 Jacksonville almost beats the Patriots in the AFC championship game with Blake Bortles at quarterback! Let that sink in. Blake Bortles almost led his team to the Super Bowl, almost beating the Patriots in New England in the championship game. That's as improbable as the modern NFL gets. Oh yeah, the Vikings and Saints had a somewhat improbable finish in those playoffs too.
Tom’s 2020 playoff run will be my favorite for a long time. How many times does a QB have to go through 3 other HOF QBs for a chip? He didn’t have the greatest games of his career in that run but it was still satisfying
One fun fact that you forgot to mention was that this year was the first time that the team hosting the super bowl was also playing in the game. Before that year, hosting cities were believed to be cursed
That Chiefs game have will forever haunt us as football fans. That helmet to helmet was the most obvious missed call in the history of Patrick Mahomes football.
I remember saying we had a SB team if jameis didn’t throw 30 ints. So when we got Brady i thought we’d finally win a playoff game for the first time since our last SB
one thing you forgot to mention was the fact that the Super Bowl was MEANT to be played at SoFi stadium in LA but due to COVID the game was moved to TB because they were meant to host the 2022 Super Bowl so they just swapped the two games between themselves, which lead to the Rams hosting the SB in their stadium the year after
15:00 I so remember all of this. Brandon was so locked in on Drew Lock, thinking he was going to be their next franchise quarterback and lead them to the promised land.
I was in the hospital before that Super Bowl, and got sent home with a pic line in my arm the day before my Buccaneers played at home in the Super Bowl. I cheered so much I gave myself a blood clot and had to go back to the hospital. Was it worth it? Every moment, it was worth it for every moment. We won it all at home baby!
Oddities from 2020 Season: -Wednesday 3:40pm Week 12 Ravens game in Pittsburgh, so they wouldn't conflict with a Christmas show on NBC -All 3 Broncos QBs took off their tracking devices, were automatically determined to be a COVID risk for the upcoming game, and a WR from practice squad was made QB with a day's notice, after the league told them the QB Coach was not allowed to play at QB. -Masks required for staff not on the field, Sean Payton outright refused to wear one, was never kicked out. -49ers had to play in ARIZONA because of how divorced from reality the Santa Clara government is. -32 out of 256 regular season games were rescheduled, but NONE of them had to be cancelled -Tuesday Night Football! (please bring this back)

The defense held Henning, who still had both Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill to throw to, as well as the Walrus himself dialing up plays, to 3 points.
The Browns outscored the mahomes-less chiefs 14 to 3. The difference in the score coming out of the first half was absolutely a game changer.

Probably the Saddest Season to be a Sports Fan. Watched a New Zealand Rugby Match that Summer with a full crowd and cried because I haven't seen something like that since March that year
I love the direction you’re taken with your X (formerly known as Twitter) account. I’m excited to see what this new chapter in your career brings
He doesn’t like talking about the saints for some reason
2020 was our last real playoff push probably for another 5 years
@@the_br0wnie294 ya I’ve kind of noticed that. wtf did we do to him 😂
@@ccselmo9363 the saints low key beat the fuck outta the broncos a lot
Nice haircut, man! 2020 was a total fever dream.
The Braille Mary was so damn iconic and such a Fitzmagic move to pull 😅
I lost my Dad on January 23rd, 2020. We had his memorial service on March 5th (he was cremated, he didn’t want a funeral/burial). A few weeks later, all hell broke loose because of Covid. It was a messed up year for me personally.
Damn, sorry to hear that. Hope life is better for you now
@@thatsgoodsports time heals all wounds, it has gotten easier. I still miss him. Me and my now wife got married in his hospital room on January 8th, a couple days after we got the news his pancreatic cancer could not be treated. He was so happy we did that for him, I’m the youngest of three. Had his last beer that day too with a couple of sips of champagne. 🙂
That was literally Aaron Rodgers second Super Bowl ring. That was it. It was a fixed point in history, destined. But Brady had the infinity gauntlet.
I signed up for Underdog, used your promo code - only thing that sucks is that they don't allow pick-ems in Kansas (yes I live in Kansas City and it's horrible).
Was just talking about how wild the broadcasts were that year. Fake crowd noise and announcers screaming like they were trying to talk over 70k fans
If it weren’t for Kevin King, that was Green Bay’s year, it sucks man.
Probably. But they also got 3 interceptions in the second half, and didn’t do anything with it.
That was our blue ball season 😞
He's on the Falcons right now, is he really bad?
That was 100% Green Bay's year. It also wouldn't really be deemed "mickey mouse" since every team played all their games
That year I picked all 13 postseason games correctly. I filled out my bracket and went 13-0. Pretty cool.
The cam in hat thing made me lol. Thanks
For the Million Dollars to Perna Underdog promo, can you please add an updated # of sign-ups per ad read?
It's already disappointing failing... now you want to see how little people actually care?
What a quality video man 😂
It's crazy how there was no Super Bowl that year and no one can convince me otherwise
Watching Mahomes play horrible was amazing, what do you mean
Horribly like the boy was trying, tyreek just fucked up disrespecting the D in their beat down of Tampa in reg seez, after that when they met again the d said oh hell naw we can’t be abused again! lol I don’t know shit but it’s my butthole oh I mean OPINION!!!!
@@NeverSober8008 îmho, Mahomes played well despite his injury. His O-Line was horrible though.
@@zordiark9673 Did you think Peyton Manning was pretty decent during Super Bowl 48?
@zordiark9673 Huh? He literally just dealt with what so many other QB's have too and guess what... he put up zero TD scoring drives and threw three picks.
Drew brees was a beast his last year, bro played through some crazy injures and still put up numbers every game
The best part of the 2020 season is that it marked the end of the Quinntricia era in Detroit
Can we just get one of these for every season. I love the deep dives recapping seasons
I'ved been begging for 2019 for quite a while
We're working on it...slowly
@@thatsgoodsports no worries. It was one of my favorite seasons of football in general. I appreciate you Perna!
Rivers family portrait is nice touch Perna.😎
Tom’s 2020 playoff run will be my favorite for a long time. How many times does a QB have to go through 3 other HOF QBs for a chip? He didn’t have the greatest games of his career in that run but it was still satisfying
Great episode
One fun fact that you forgot to mention was that this year was the first time that the team hosting the super bowl was also playing in the game. Before that year, hosting cities were believed to be cursed
loved watching brady take down mahomes one last time. it was mainly that defense tho. winfield made it so much better with the peace sign at the end.
It was amazing watching the team my Grandpa has loved since the 90s finally get a second ring. Go Bucs
5:17 It's ok, as a member of the Bills Mafia I can relate! lol
I’m glad the Stanford Super Bowl got a shoutout. The crowd in that game is DEF on the Niners side lol
Patrick Chung is a name i haven't heard in a real long time. Dude had two different numbers for the Cheatriots
So glad that the Lions only mention was Patricia being fired.
Oddities from 2020 Season:
-Wednesday 3:40pm Week 12 Ravens game in Pittsburgh, so they wouldn't conflict with a Christmas show on NBC
-All 3 Broncos QBs took off their tracking devices, were automatically determined to be a COVID risk for the upcoming game, and a WR from practice squad was made QB with a day's notice, after the league told them the QB Coach was not allowed to play at QB.
-Masks required for staff not on the field, Sean Payton outright refused to wear one, was never kicked out.
-49ers had to play in ARIZONA because of how divorced from reality the Santa Clara government is.
-32 out of 256 regular season games were rescheduled, but NONE of them had to be cancelled
-Tuesday Night Football! (please bring this back)
what a crazy season looking back at it now. wild times
I remember Tom coming home to the Bay Area and thinking, damn I wish I was back home fore the partying that was gonna happen.
It is crazy to see where all these coaches and players are now. A lot changes in a few yrs
As a Niner's fan, that 2020 season still haunts me more than the Harbowl.
