Right? Scooters are just as diverse as motorcycles. Plus scooters are a gateway, so more people start riding through being on scooters.

I have Michelin Power Pure on the back of my scooter and I can tell you, this tire has a lot of grip man! It is just crazy how much i can lean into a corner! Also, this tire heats up pretty quick, and it is very light! I can only imagine how much more I can lean if i have the same one on the front. Nice video, cheers!

Good info. Could you update this for 2023? I know Michelin has the City Grip 2 now. And I'm sure there are new models from other manufacturers out there. I'd love to hear about new options for replacing the factory Mitas tires that came on my Vespa Primavera 150. Thanks! (By the way, roads covered in maple syrup, that's hilarious!)

    • @AdventureByJake
      @AdventureByJake 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I was hoping for the same! I’m running Pirelli Angels on my 125cc Sprint. It looks like City Grip 2 and the Pirelli Angel are very very close in performance (direct competitors). Angels slightly better in the wet, City grip 2 has slightly better longevity. I’m at 4600 miles on Pirelli Angels and the rear should last until the 6000 mile service.
There’s also Pirelli Diablo and the Michelin Power Pure as the sports versions from Pirelli and Michelin. Again, very evenly matched from what I’ve read, but both sacrifice a lot of their wet weather performance for dry weather grip.
As I’m in England and ride all year round, I think I’m going to stick with the Pirelli Angels.
      What tyres are you running?

You think the Michelin City tire would be okay on a 49cc scooter or the Michelin SC tire. I have a 2006 Kymco Super 9 LC 2 stroke & it weighs about 230lbs, I think. It has 120 70 12 in front and 130 70 12 in rear. Kind of a big scooter compared to most 49cc and goes 80km per hour on flat. I'm 6'2" 195lbs btw if that makes a difference. I see the description on the Michelin City mentions it is used on medium or large scooters. I just kinda prefer the tread pattern on the City tire and the long life. Kinda new to scooters, rode a lot scooters on vacation but this is the first one I have owned. Thanks for your time and keep up the great videos

The Pirelli fashion tyre is surprisingly good in the rain when it's mounted backwards. It basically handles the same as it does in the dry. Which is mediocre especially when it comes to braking.
All the courier scooters at my job have those, mounted in reverse. Predictable, mediocre performance.

My SMAX came with the Power Pure I believe, on the front, and the Purelli Diablo on the back.
The XMAX comes with the Scootsmart tires (seems to be the same on both wheels), which seems to be rated by some people as really good. :) No need to change tires luckily.

I had the street pilot on my old scooter (Xmax 125) and man these tired DO NOT DIE!
I had them for over 3 years and lasted almost 40K KM!! They were great. I could hold another few months, but they've felt slippery at the end.
I'm about to get Tmax 530 or a BMW C600. I care about mileage more than 'sportiness' since I just ride long distances, what tires would you suggest for me to buy, that would hold something like 30k km?
    Thanks!

30k is asking a lot! Check out Heidenau - their touring tires typically wear like iron. I think the K66 might be a good fit for larger displacement scooters? ~RyanF9

I'm having a problem choosing tyres for my scooter... my *front* tyre measurements are 100/90 14, and basically every "known and reputable" tyre brand marks that measurement as rear tyre only... how can I solve this? Is it "ok" to use a rear tyre only as a front tyre?...
    Thanks

Hey bud so quick question. The Michelin tires say i need a 110/90-13 for my front and 130/60-13 for rear. But right now on my 150 superhornet both front and rear are 130/60-13. Any help would be awesome
