    Thanks so much guys for the amazing review! I can't tell you how satisfying it is to hear about how others love the game as much as we do :)
    I'm glad you spotted the QR code at the end because the game is so much easier to learn from the 'learn to play' video. You can watch it here: www.badgersfrommars.com/regicide/
    We would have loved to include 4 reference cards, but we had to keep it to the standard 55 cards which didn't leave us much room to move. But, great news, we will soon have an awesome score-keeping app available which will take away all the heavy lifting :) I'll be sure to let you know when it's available.

      I enjoy watching how to play much more than reading how to play. I’ll watch that video this week!! I’m very curious to use the scoring app. Can’t wait!!

      Your welcome! Thanks for making a fantastic game!
      That makes sense. We look forward to the score keeping app. That will be super helpful!
      Just played it solo and loved it! (I realize I have overused exclamation marks, but there's a lot to get excited about). The Jester-reset option works really well. I thought it might not be as enjoyable without the table-talk and cooperation, but I found the core combo puzzle satisfying.
      Is a Regicide 2 or expansions in the works?

    The first time I played I struggled through learning the powers and navigating the game state. Second play I discovered that this game is a master stroke of design with tension, excitement and either vindication and triumph or a feeling of “what could have been.” I don’t love the specialized deck but it is worth it to support the designer.

      It is always fun to find a game that gets better with multiple plays as opposed to a roller coaster that makes you sick with multiple rides :)

      I love the discovery of something fun, new or challenging. We decided at the very beginning to just share what we are passionate about whether old or new, popular or panned. Regicide has a permanent pocket in the game bag.

    Great review. You’ve sold me. I also really like the way you guys explain things and interact with each other. I watch tons of gaming videos and listen to lots of podcasts and even though this is my first time listening to you guys I can tell there’s something special here. I also love the beginning shots, fireplace, ambience, etc. Makes me want to create that same feeling wherever I’m playing :) keep up the great work!!

      Thank you. Your words are encouraging. Part of the fun of the game garage is that we film right where we play and we talk about what we always talk about. I like that it is not a set or studio … just the garage with a few more lights. We are enjoying the process, glad to hear you are as well.

    • @The-Game-Garage
      @The-Game-Garage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, Matthew! I'm really glad you enjoyed it! There's nothing better then enjoying a good board game by a crackling fire with either a mug of coffee (or Pepsi). We're convinced that if you get the ambience right, almost any game can be fun! (Except for maybe Monopoly...though, now that I think about it. If I had enough caffeine I might enjoy Monopoly.) On another note, what game channels and podcasts do you enjoy?

      It’s so fun to hear you talk about ambience as such an important aspect of gaming. One of my daughters loves Batman so we got the most recent Batman board game and have been playing it with a repeating track of Batman music in the background. The game is okay, but when you add the music, and start acting out your attacks with fun Batman verbiage, the game can be really awesome :)
      Podcasts: I used to listen to all the old Ludology episodes, but have not really enjoyed the newer ones as much. I love One Stop Co-op shop when they review games, but I don’t like some of their newer content/host that deviates from their initial premise. I like The Dice Tower, The Board Game Design Lab, Breaking Into Board Games, The Game Crafter, and a few others. As far as you tube, I’m kind of all over the place, usually looking for reviews or how to play videos, though Shut up and Sit down is pretty entertaining even when I’m not too interested in the game :)

      @@DeadGoldfishProd I think the real charm comes from the A+ feel-good father-son chemistry. It's clear you both have respect for each other, and that's sorta rare nowadays, you know? You both are good talkers and are fun to listen to, so it's just relaxing knowing there isn't any weird family tension coming like there would be for most of us.

    • @DeadGoldfishProd
      @DeadGoldfishProd 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dan, I didn’t notice this comment until now. Your comment made me smile and kinda sit back and think. Bodie and I have been working together on projects for a solid decade. We did puppets for several years which was a creative exercise in putting a script together and then both playing our character. It is amazing how many things we learned from that that we use with Game Garage Reviews. On top of all that, it is fun to work with anyone that does not have a chip on their shoulder … we don’t take ourselves too seriously. :)

    great video. what are these cards in the shelf behind you?

    • @The-Game-Garage
      @The-Game-Garage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Those cards are characters from a board game Dad and I designed and built. You can find more details about it here: boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/294717/crossroads-and-green-emerald

    • @DeadGoldfishProd
      @DeadGoldfishProd 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Crossroads!! One of these days we will have to do an explanation of this game. Started in 2011 with over 2500 pieces we keep adding expansions. We started by casting our own pewter characters and now add pieces from eBay and curio cabinets everywhere. One of the most unique parts of the game is the true miniature experience. You feel like you are running around an old west town. The most surprising thing has been the balance of the game that has created over 40 plays that have mostly been nail biters to the very end. We have an epilogue engraver that makes all the cards out of 1/4 plywood or 1/8 white board. We will set it up again in the garage in mid October and I hope we can share more details. It is honestly my #2 favorite game of all time … which is another video we need to do …

    Interesting looking game but I suggest you try to get tighter shots of the cards for your videos. It's really hard to see the cards from the angles provided.

    • @The-Game-Garage
      @The-Game-Garage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re right! We should have gotten closer shots of the cards. We keep forgetting to get extra shots of the game from multiple angles to better showcase and represent the games we review. Hopefully next time we do a review we will remember 😬
