  • This time on the AutoEdits Jeep Wrangler JKU Rubicon build... we do a detailed How To installation on what I consider the absolute perfect exhaust system for my Jeep... the Magnaflow Overland System for the JKU.
    Here's a link to the webpage: www.magnaflow.com/products/19...
    The install is rated Beginner on this one and is actually kind of fun. Takes just a few basic tools and you'll have to remove the skid plate under the transfer case. Otherwise, just take your time and everything will go in with ease.
    00:00 introduction
    01:18 sound comparison of the flowmaster
    02:33 installation
    09:21 sound comparison with the new magnaflow overland exhaust and test drive
    Here's a link to the original video of me installing the Flowmaster • Jeep Wrangler Exhaust ... on an otherwise bone stock Jeep! This thing has made a serious transformation over the last few years.
    Thanks so much for watching please make sure to subscribe and take a moment to see if there's anything on the Amazon store that you might need like some of those Grease Monkey Bones gloves or some Tool Box Buddy from Lucas

    I installed the flowmaster system on my jeep after watching your installation video 5 years ago. It was and is a great system. Its a little louder as I get older, and I have felt as though I needed a change as well. I ordered this system after watching your install and seeing that it fits everything that I have been looking for. I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.
    PS Magnaflow has free shipping right now!

    Hey Jason, 1st I gotta say I'm a big fan and love all your videos, especially the Jeep stuff. Most of your build up to when you went to bead locks and 38's was the direct inspiration for my build.
    My friends say my Jeep is the "AutoEdits-East/NJ Edition", lol... I do have a few questions for you regarding this new Magnaflow exhaust though.
    I too did the same Flowmaster system and also really enjoyed it, but you are right, under certain situations, it's a bit loud. For me it has to do with leaving the house at 5am for work and waking up my fiancé and stepdaughter, which is no bueno...😬...
    They'd love for me to put the stock system back on, but I wasn't a fan of the size and clearance issues, plus I've repurposed the location where the stock muffler was for my junction box that distributes outputs from my Painless Wiring Trail Rocker, so I can't really go back to stock without reworking a ton of stuff.
    What I'm wondering in your opinion is how quiet the new Magnaflow is compared to the Flowmaster, and also compared to the stock system?
    Like on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being stock and 10 being Flowmaster, where would you place the Magnaflow?
    It's really cold startup (high idle) that's causing the problem, and I'm trying to find out before I spend the money if the Magnaflow would cut that down enough to do the job or if I'll need to fab my own custom system.

    • @AutoEdits

    This is Exactly what I've been looking for. I currently have a comparable high clearance exhaust set up and initially it was cool & gave me a more aggressive tone but not too obnoxious...at least for that moment in time.
    Fast forward a few years...wants and needs change. I don't need my rig to sound like something it's not. I don't want to turn up my radio to drown out the drone which is driving me bat ish crazy. I just need something high clearance and more discreet sounding

    I agree with you.
    Not because it's a V6, but for off road enjoyment.
    I can see your point that it's just a V6 but it is the best one ever fitted to a Wrangler.
    (No, the Hemi one doesn't make sense at all.)
    290hp from a 3.6L.
    (Current V6s in Camrys and Accords are barely touching the 300hp mark and they are sedans!)
    That's very good nowadays and it's a decade old engine. It's definitely not gutless. I watched your rig make 4Runners, Tacos and older Jeeps look like Priuses trying to keep up with a truck in the highway.
    Yes, not all V6s sound good but in my opinion the Pentastar does sound good.

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right, the engine does make decent power when it revs but having a manual transmission exposes the weak low end on the tune. It is a good power plant and this is the best I've heard it sound.

    Love this video, and frankly - all your videos are amazing! Been watching for years! Thank you for all the effort you put into this for us (distinguished) Jeepers! One quick question I do have on this - do you think that this exhaust would be OK with stock plastic bumpers? Reason I ask is because the design is very similar to the Flowmaster, and they (specifically) stated they recommended after market steel bumpers because of the proximity of the tailpipe under the body - presuming they're worried about melting the bumper etc. Was something that turned me off the Flowmaster, so would love any thoughts on that, as I wasn't able to find anything referencing similar for the Magnaflow! Thank you!

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for this! That is a solid concern with the flowmaster but the magnaflow kit dumps well clear of the bumper so I would not be concerned about the plastic bumper with this kit!

    I put the same exhaust on my JKU and I’ve had continued problems with the first section (muffler) shifting around and rubbing the frame under the driver door area. I initially installed it but have since had an exhaust shop and then a Jeep performance shop tighten it up, but it still loosens up and starts to rub. Currently, I’m waiting on Magnaflow to send me some new clamps.

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't imagine how that can be happening but I'm sure it's frustrating... plus a couple of tack welds (or fully welded for maximum durability) would've solved any problem with it coming loose. How can it go to multiple shops and that not be suggested?

    • @darjnz4406
      @darjnz4406 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AutoEdits I thought about asking them to weld it, I just figured that they would get it tightened up, but none of the shops mentioned it. I received the new clamps and put them on myself and at 40 ft lbs I can still twist the sections by hand. I tightened the clamps up to 60 ft lb just to check and I can still twist the sections by hand. Mangaflow has been less than helpful, when I first talked to them they told me the exhaust was not compatible with my 17 JKU, then they tried to blame it on other modifications that have been done to the jeep. At this point there has to be some tolerance issued with how the sections are fitting together? I’m pretty much over it after paying 2 different shops and the time I have put in myself. In my opinion it was a waste of 700 bucks. It does sound great when it’s not rattling against the frame.

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @dar jnz I'm not sure why you are tightening clamps to a specific torque, I never read the directions and just installed mine... but I tightened the clamps until they bottom out... all the way tight and haven't had an issue. I totally get this would be frustrating and hope you get it dialed in soon!

    • @darjnz4406
      @darjnz4406 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AutoEdits On the first installation I just installed it without considering torque, but after my first call to Magnaflow they wanted assurance (picture) that it was torqued to 40 ft lb before even considering any further steps. Oh, and they also wanted a video of me “jiggling” the exhaust to prove that it is not tight. It’s pretty comical at this point, their customer service people have very little knowledge about their products. It seems that they are just following a customer service algorithm. It’s obvious that there is some sort of production issue going on with the kit that I received. I’ve requested they send me a complete new kit, we’ll see where that goes. I know someone with the same kit on a different model and theirs is fine too. A new shop has now suggested stiffer isolators to see if that helps? Are you using the factory isolators?
