    Hey Jason, I love your videos! great clarity and editing. I love the way your jeep is evolving (although it seems like a set of 41 mudders would sit pretty sweet under the beast 😉). I'm a certified mechanic and I must say your mechanical work is pretty top notch and reminds me of how meticulous I am. Keep up the good work brother 👍 and here's a wave to a fellow jeeper 👋

    hay Jason. Two years ago you did this video install of the power stop break upgrade. Its been 2 years and would like to see a video on how well the breaks did. I am thinking about upgrading my breaks and have heard mixed reviews on them. I know you give an honest review and would like to hear what you have to say about them.

    Hey jason. I would love to have these brakes. But not for me. My uncle whom I bought my first jeep off of owns a sick 2016 rubicon and the first thing he did was throw on 37s like you did! I would love to surprise him with these brakes because he has been such an inspiration and a huge guide to the transformation of my 97 wrangler. Please please please choose me!

    Hey Jay, just like you I am doing a lot of upgrades on my JKU. So far in the last year I have had it, I have put in about 10 grand into it, but the wife has pulled in the reins and slowed me down a bit, lol. I finally got my 4.88 re-gear done and Eaton -E-lockers last week, and I am super stoked about it. Anyways I digress, I really want to thank you for the vids you make man, you simplify and inspire confidence for a new DIY jeeper, and I am always stoked when you come out with a new one. Funny you did a brake kit video, because with all the weight I have added along with 35 MT2'S my "Bo" no longer brakes they way he should, so I have been thinking about an economical upgrade, especially with slotted rotors for better heat dissipation. I would love to have the giveaway, but regardless of if I don't win, I am gonna get this kit somehow. Again thanks for the vids, keep em coming. Maybe a Rock Hard 4x4 Sport cage install soon to reinforce the flimsy stock cage?

    I've done the break in but I now have a spongy petal. I did not open the break lines but I have bled the lines to triple Check. I literally have tried everything. Any suggestions?

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had that problem when I swapped the flex lines for the lift kit a few months ago. It took a long time and almost a complete bottle of brake fluid to get it right. We also had a similar problem on the blue JK from Dirt Every Day and eventually had to use a professional tuner to engage the "self bleed" mode. That uses the pump for the anti lock braking system to purge air out of the system. So you might have to take it to a shop to have that done if the home bleed isn't working. It's a pain... but these Jeeps are tricky that way! Hang in there!

    Neeeed these breaks. 17 and taking tough advanced placement classes so I don't have the time to put in hours at my job during the school year. I'm running 35s on a 2 door Sahara with bumpers and the works. When driving at high speeds or braking around corners I can feel my stock ones giving out on me. Would really appreciate to have those and have been subbed for a while now.

    Pro Tip! And I know this is an old video. When you are going brakes, always start from the most farthest pads. In this case when doing all of them. Start at the right rear, then left rear, right front, then last the driver front.
    Also the slide pins should be removed from the caliper bracket and cleaned. Rubber boots inspected and cleaned. Then pins greased and installed back in bracket. These pins need to be clean and greased for even brake pad wear. But don’t use too much grease! Just a light coat with a brush, and don’t put any grease on the very end of pins (the end that goes in first). If so the pins can’t move all the way in limiting their movement. And always torque every bolt to factory specs. Hope this helps anyone who reads this.

    A couple suggestions- If someone wants to put the lug nuts on to hold the rotor while mounting the caliper I suggest putting the nuts backwards with the flat side against the rotor. It keeps it from pinching the threads and holds it more secure than the tapered side. The grease is meant to put on the caliper bolts and slide between the caliper and mount. In my 40 plus years as a mechanic I have even managed a brake shop , I have never seen or heard of anyone greasing the points he greased. Care should be taken to avoid getting grease on any part of the pads. The caliper slides on the mounting bolts and mount as pressure is applied. After it's installed you should be able to slide the caliper freely on the mount.

    • @davidgoodwin658
      @davidgoodwin658 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have seen and used a sticky spray for back of pads to the piston cup and like you said grease the bolts that you mentioned.

    It's 2020. How did these Hold up? Did you keep buying the z23? Did you switch to the z36 (I think I saw you use these in another video from a year later?) What are you running for brakes in 2020?

      The other video you might be referencing is when I ordered a set to "freshen up" the brakes after a year or so of wheeling and long trips and found the brakes to be in great shape... so I gave away the new kit to a viewer.
      Here's a link to my amazon store for either the Z36 kit that I had been running and the new "big brake kit" that I just installed... www.amazon.com/shop/autoedits?listId=3V59WNMGIVSC0
