Thanks for the test sounds at various stages. Well done. I've been searching for the right combo for my 2012 JK and this looks perfect for me as well as a huge savings over what my plan was. Thanks!
I recently did this after watching your video. Thanks. I paid $75 for a closer seller who got it to me in 2 days so it was on for the weekend. Saw it for $68. I was embarrassed at my first stop at the gas station. Lotta drone. 3rd week and I’m starting to connect with the drone. Love the exterior sounds, idle and coming off the gas. Love it at gas stations - don’t love it early mornings. Definitely reminds of my D&D exhaust I had on my CBR. I love watching my MPGs increase.
Thanks for the insight and posting this video. Been debating swapping my factory muffler with this Magnaflow muffler, and I think this video might have just pushed me over the edge.
No problem bud, glad it helped. After a while of driving it around from cruising down the highway, stop & go traffic, to wheeling in the rocks I still would highly recommend it. 100% livable & not annoying yet gives you some tone. Good luck man & hope you like it as much as I do!
Thanks for the video, I was looking for a better replacement for my Pypes muffler that cracked less than 2 years and this one ended up working perfect for the replacement. Also sounds great and a lot quieter!!
If you want a nice deep idle thats not to loud (about 85 decibles on cold start up) and about 81-83 when at normal idle cut your resonator off and install a dynomax 17615 in its place. You will need a custom tail pipe made but it made my 2door jk sound really good. Very quite on the highway and no drone at all
Been wanting to change my exhaust on my jeep and get rid of that tacky muffler showing in the back! Thanks for posting!! By the way, dug the Megadeth shirt! Huge fan! 🤘
You are welcome! Yeah man, I remember my 1st dose of Megadeth was in my early teens from the Steel Roots soundtrack (Jeremy McGrath dirtbike movie)...Symphony of Destruction was the opening song while McGrath was shredding & it kicked ass! Made my parents take me to the mall to buy the CD shortly thereafter. Thanks for the view & comment & happy wrenching! 🤙🏻
I did the same exact muffler on my 11 3.8 jku but I did it in the factory location tucked up close to the heat shield it has a very good tone sounds just like the dual exhaust kits sitting side by side for a whole lot cheaper I recommend welding it if it's gonna be permenant
@@RoyalGraham I did not just replaced the factory muffler with the magnaflow it sounds alotttt better very deep throaty sound people always ask what I put on it
Can't tell much from seat of the pants feel, but the Jeep is much more fun to drive with a little tone to it when accelerating. Thanks for the view & comment 🤙🏻
Great video. I am in the process of doing this same mod on my 2012 JKU. Took the factory muffler off and added a 4” exhaust tip on the end. Waiting on the magnaflow to deliver but I can’t decide if I should delete resonator or install the magnaflow behind the resonator...
I highly recommend leaving the resonator installed & putting the Magnaflow unit downstream. It sounds nice under both normal & harder acceleration, is not annoying/embarrasing, and no drone. I've lived w/it for a while now & 100% feel I made the right decision. If u take the resonator out and/or terminate in front of the rear axle you're going to get drone & it will be annoying. Do your thing man but I wouldn't steer y'all wrong 👍🏻 I too ended up installing a slash-cut turn-down tip just after the rear axle. Thanks for the view & comment! Good luck bruh 🤙🏻
Thank you! Really nice video. I have a manual 2013 jkur and this looks like a nice solution. Can anyone tell me if this can be installed without welding? Is there a fitting that i could bolt on each end or is that too ghetto/janky? Also...for cutting, what's best for someone who has some but very limited cutting experience? A sawzall or a cutting wheel on a grinder? Or something else? Any advice from anyone is super appreciated! Thanks guys!
What kinda rear suspension is that? I put a teraflex on mine after I bought it, but I don't remember it looking like that. That looks like my ex girlfriends xterra suspension. Weird
In the process of doing this. I took the stock muffler off sat. How is the heat having both the resonator and magnaflo in the same area. Is there a lot of build up in the floor board?
I haven't had any problems with it. If a guy wanted to be extra safe though, I reckon that you could take the stock aluminum heat shield, trim it down and put it above the muffler (if can engineer how to attach it). Either that or find some sort of aluminum heat-insulating tape. I'm running nothing on mine though & is working fine...no melted carpet or kids in back seat complaining 👍🏻
I bought this magnaflow because I wanted to get rid of my bulky eye sore oem exhaust. Everytime I went on a trail I would dent the tailpipe. The only bad part about it is that it is too loud for my liking, too much bark for a v6 it sounds like a gtr..
@brad coley I reckon it depends on your state's laws. I know some require the tailpipe to exit at least even w/the body, which is easy to circumvent by either installing a longer tailpipe or just having a "for inspection only" extension you can clamp on & remove when done. You can get most anything to pass if you ask around and find the right shop on the 1st attempt 🤙🏻
I got one for $20 from a friend who used his a week 😂 but my Porsche 944 has had someone cut off the cat and I have a fart cannon I'ma cut off my Honda I'm sell to replace the burnt factory muffler and try to use the magaflow as a resonator to get rid of the awful cabin sound it's like a confused v6 sound as it is right now at idle sounds like a 4cyl with no exhaust and at around 2500 its drone city until about 4k then it sounds like a funky v6 under load 😂 I honestly hate the way it sounds so even if it's just straight quiet I'd be happy
So I'm envisioning it sounds something like an ass-blasting trumpet sound when you romp on it 🤣 Cats make a HUGE difference to the sound for sure. Hope you get 'er under control! #dronesux
This can also be done w/o welding using clamps (see video description)
Your Jeep sounds GREAT!!! Sounds like a WRX which I think sounds AWESOME! Great set up!

Thanks for the revs with each step. Love that. Was browsing these on eBay and decided to watch more vids.

coldsteel_offroad right on!
Thanks for the video. Exactly what I planned to do and now I know how it’ll turn out. Much appreciated.

I did the exact same thing. I had a tail piece welded on to get rid of the drone. 😎

Did you purchase a universal resonator since the 3.8s don’t have one? If not how does it sound? Annoyingly loud?
@@RoyalGraham I did not just replaced the factory muffler with the magnaflow it sounds alotttt better very deep throaty sound people always ask what I put on it
Its not too loud has alil drone at highway speed but tires and radio drown it out
Best damn video on YT on this subject. Did exactly what you did. Thanks much!!!
Sounds awesome I wish there was rom under my 2dr for it
Thank you for the great video. Did you notice any performance increase or decrease?

Buying this today
$70 instead of $570. I also added a matte black tip
How do you like the sound? Which config did u go with? Thanks for the comment & view!
Nice job brother.

@@coldsteeloffroad thanks for the response!! Will probably end up leaving the resonator on and be better safe than sorry, lol.

Stock, except for springs, shocks & track bar.
What about resonator delete?
You could very easily but I don't recommend it for a daily driver. Too much drone & in my opinion doesn't sound as good. To each their own though.

Did you keep the factory resonator as well or omit it? I thought it was too loud as well w/o the resonator...at least it would drone more for sure.
@@coldsteeloffroad I did I cut right above the resonator. I think that relocating the resonator should help.
will this pass inspection

Soooo all you did was replace the secondary muffler with a straight through muffler right after the primary muffler….okie
This is unstable bc you put in a striaght exhaust on a pipe that angles.
