Hi Dominique, thanks for another video! I wash and flat-iron my relaxed hair once a week, but my ends always start to feel dry after just a few days. I've started doing a very light moisturize and seal on just my ends 1 to 2 times a week and it keeps them so soft and supple, and most importantly, keeps the split ends from forming. If I just put a little leave-in (my favorite is So Much Moisture by As I Am) and rub between my palms then smooth over the ends, and then follow with a little oil, my ends will be slightly damp that night, but dry and soft by the next morning. I just do it in the evening and put my hair up. It doesn't revert my hair but everyone's is different - mine is relaxed and gets a lot of heat over the years so it tends to just stay kind of straight even when wet. My current favorite oil is the Vegamour HYDR-8 oil from sephora - the mini doesn't cost too much and it lasts a long time because you only need one or two pumps. It's super lightweight for anyone wanting a really light oil. One last note - I've always hated bonnets with elastic edges, they shred the front edges of my hair too. I found some silk-lined cotton sleeping caps on amazon, similar to the silk-lined beanies you've showed us before. The edge is adjustable and plus I can fold it up so nothing but silk is touching the perimeter of my hair. I've had less breakage since sleeping in those. Looking forward to your next video, I missed you when you took a little TH-cam break!
Nya! This is so helpful! Thank you so much for sharing! I’ll be sure to look for that Vegamour product and try it out. Seems like such a popular brand! Thank you also for sticking around while I took that TH-cam break. It feels good to be back! ❤
I moisturize and seal, but not in the traditional way. I have fine hair, so I don't like the heaviness of it. I now use products that keep my hair moisturized longer. I really like the amika dream routine overnight hydration treatment. It gives about 3-4 days of moisture. I don't use it if my hair is flat ironed, though. For my flat ironed hair, I use it's a ten miracle leave-in potion plus keratin (that's a mouth full, lol). I use the Moroccan treatment oil daily no matter what because it's so lightweight and I save heavier oils for wash days. Thanks for sharing your routine. It's nice to see you back doing videos. 💜
Excellent video I do the same thing and it’s definitely not for a silk press day, another tip is to steam your hair. I section it and go through each section steaming then applying a cream moisturizer and then an oil. I found doing it this way helps you to actually get all the strands since we typically try to not overload our hair with products which can lead to dryness. I have fine hair and this way allowed my hair to soak up all the product and not leave it weighed down. I tend to do the same on wash day when I want to silk press it, my blow dry cream and heat protectant I mix and I apply to wet hair. When I flat iron it, my hair is shiny and flowing.
Over the winter, my hair got really dry and then with the stress I was under, a portion of my crown area broke off. 😩 I had to be careful with my protective soles because the damage was at the crown, but it's slowly growing back.
Hi Babe! Actually, I couldn't find it! The Walmart near me stopped carrying it and so did my local drugstore. I did find it online but shipping to Canada made it $30 a bottle. UGH. But I do still love it!
Love this!! You put me onto Gisou awhile ago!! How do you manage putting your hair in a ponytail without getting breakage? Just continue to moisturize and seal?
That's right! I used to use these soft, fabric-covered elastics that were so great, but I lost them all. They are more gentle on hair. Need to reorder more!
I like serums. They are lighter and make your scalp and hair less dirty between wash days, but use whatever works for you! I personally think shea butter is a little too heavy.
Hi! Love your hair videos! As a relaxed hair girlie, a note on weekly deep conditioning, I've seen major improvement adding the Redken Acidic Bond rebuilder to my routine. My hair feels so strong and just oomphy! Much better than Olaplex, IMHO.
I do it every 8 weeks. My hair loves that. It gives enough time to allow for proper relaxing and no overlapping with already relaxed hair (I have about an inch of new growth which is easy to work with). Less than an inch of growth and you run the risk of relaxing already relaxed hair. Most people find a sweet spot between 2-3 months
No - only because Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil is so expensive and you get so little of it. I also would prefer to use an oil with as little ingredients in it as possible
I feel like a old granny now as I've reverted to using head scarfs as a protective style. You can get some beautiful stunning satin ones in amazing colors (especially if you don't mind buying it from Shein). I've got a bit of an obsession with them now as you can make it look so feminine especially if you need to cover your edges. I to be honest can't stand bonnets, it's only because of how I see people using it now. Walking around the streets with it, serving me coffee in a coffee shop, guys going shopping in them. I detest them now.
I actually do it every other night for a week and then wash my hair on the weekend. Sometimes, I'll wash my hair twice a week if I'm doing a lot of cardio

So you're not using the Luster's S-Curl anymore at night? I do love the Unite detangler after washing my hair.
Hi Babe! Actually, I couldn't find it! The Walmart near me stopped carrying it and so did my local drugstore. I did find it online but shipping to Canada made it $30 a bottle. UGH. But I do still love it!
Thankyou girl for the information ❤❤❤❤.
You’re welcome!

Dominique, what type of hair style do you have on your relaxed hair if it’s not flat ironed? Is it air dried only?
LOVE YOUR tips girl
Thanks, D!
What's the best thing for your scalp - is shea butter to thick or DAX creams etc?
I like serums. They are lighter and make your scalp and hair less dirty between wash days, but use whatever works for you! I personally think shea butter is a little too heavy.

"Your hair will trim itself for you" lolol 🤣
Have you tried fractionated coconut oil, I find it a lot less heavy on my hair.
Do you use grease in your hair?
Hi, how many days prior to wash day do you do this?
I actually do it every other night for a week and then wash my hair on the weekend. Sometimes, I'll wash my hair twice a week if I'm doing a lot of cardio
