My natural hair sucks up everything. But about a month ago I went back to adding S-Curl products back into my daily routine. I just remembered how nice and healthy my hair was. I stopped the creamy hair crack about 6 years ago. I did the big chop 2 years ago, I'm back to loving my hair.
So those S-Curl and Carefree Curl products are not just for Geri curls? So if I use them for my naturally curly hair, will that stop my hair from looking frizzy in this humid environment that I live in?
Speaking of Jerry Curl. Remember the Sta Sof Fro Hairspray in the brown bottle? They discontinued it last year. I am natural now and I love that spray and couldn't find it anymore. Well, I found it in Canada and Europe and now have 20 bottles. I have 10 250 FL oz and 10 500 FL oz bottles. I'm so happy. Sincerely, Skip Tracer..🌹

I'm currently working on the health of my scalp and hair. My main issues are thinning/shedding/alopecia, dryness, undefined curl patterns, and breakage. At the moment, I try to do no more than keep my hair in a protective style (to reduce unnecessary stress on my hair), but to be honest, I don't know what products are right for my hair and its condition(s). So beautiful! Thank you so much for this info! I'm going to try this to see if I have some happy, positive results! Peace and love! 💞
I have the exact same issues as you do, along with grey hair and very little hair growth. After watching some of her videos, I did the porosity test and found out that I have low porosity hair. I started a new regimen with all new products for low porosity, wash/condition/detangle/weekly, and deep condition every 2 weeks. I also use the purple shampoo for the grey and removed split ends . After 1 month, my hair has changed dramatically, and the new process gives me hope. Do the test and go from there!!
Hey there! That's the thing -- you can't 😔. You can't put any water or water based products to your blowout -- it will cause your hair to revert. So its best to go into a blow out with healthy hair. I created a few videos on this: th-cam.com/video/ZTJJXyYd4xY/w-d-xo.html
My gray 4c Hair is so brittle and dry. I shed large amounts of hair even if I just touch my hair. My the ends of my hair seems to coil back toward the roots and my ends feel like straw. I have been to the doctor and got no help. I tried antifungals, moisture treatments, diluted glycerin spray, vitamins, teas, used variety of organic oils on my hair and scalp, increasing my fluid intake. I exercise daily and eat a plant based diet. I am using your shampoo and conditioner and leave in (which helps). The glycerine diluted with water makes my scalp itch.
Perhaps try a different doctor? I had to go to 4 or 5 before I got results. Some doctors are very arrogant and will tell you nothing is wrong (medically speaking) rather than admit they simply don't know. Also, you know you better than any doctor (no matter how good they are). Trust yourself. Good luck.
Did you get blood work? Vitamin D deficiencies, low iron and thyroid issues can cause hair loss. Also low iron and not eating enough calories can cause hair loss.

Hello Karen, I am just starting my natural hair journey and happened upon your channel, so I have a quick question. Right now, I am doing rod sets on my hair, so my question is, "Is this moisture hack okay to use with rod sets because I will be drying my hair to form the curl?" I ask because you stated that the glycerin was used for Jerry curls back in the day and that style was wet.
Your hair is beautiful. I’m Not a water drinker. What I’ve done is supplement water with homemade soups, and broths; made homemade with chicken or beef; I wet my natural 4c hair before I finger detangle even though my hair is short. I use rosemary oil occasionally. To avoid product build up, I don’t put a lot of stuff on my hair; just enough oil to seal in the moisture. Where do you get pure glycerine? I remember the 80’s gerry curl craze. That spray stuff had glycerine in it. The minute you stopped using it people’s hair broke off. I never did . Is it even safe?
Hey there! Get that water in whatever way you need to -- even in soups! 🙌🏾. Now the reason the hair broke off so much back in the day was because the Jeri Curl was actually a CHEMICAL -- just like a relaxer or perm, so the chemical made the hair very weak , and the jeri curl juice (aka glycerin based product) kept the hair moisturized so without it the hair became weak, brittle, and prone to breakage. So yes, you can use glycerin. Here's a link: amzn.to/3I7aFnX
I am using moroccanoil. It the best for dry black hair. Maintain the hair soft which is not the case with others products. It is a little expensive but at least you have something that works. I buy it in Amazon. The small one cost around $18. The big one cost $48 and I just got that one because I want to use it with my daughter. 😊😊
Very informative video! Thank you. I have a question. What would you suggest for the winter seasons? In the summer and warmer months spraying my hair before going out is fine, but I find in colder months spraying my hair causes me to get the sniffles for some reason. Do you use a different moisturizing process for the colder months?
Hey Karen! So glad you are getting views, you are awesome.. you did my daughter's big chop and first natural appointment😊! Question...with a wash and go, what step would this be? Do you put this on after you detangle and before you put on product and then with your wash and go would you totally do a rewetting of this moisture to refresh your curls?
Hi. Karen I'm new snd this is my first time watching this. I just turned 69 yrs old in December and brought a large bottle of black hair dye.the product has a slight smell when I apply it to my hair. I saw the product on Pinterst and ordered it on Amazon.its like a shampoo and all I do part my hair and rub the product in my hair. now I get gray hair more in the front, than the back, but I noticed since using the hair dye, my hair is really dry. I been wearing it natural for 2and half years, and I cut my ends twice a month. I normally do a two stran twist or when I'm going out , I use my large orange perm rods. and twice. I've tried crurl butter, hair moisturizer resonley brought, and I quote from Traci Ross, a large pump bottle of Pattern, I got Aunt Jackie's. tried AS I AM, and brought a bottle of Canto moisturizer, . But I have everything that u added to that bottle, and a bottle of coconut oil, and a bottle of rosemary oil. Help a sistta....😊
Hey there Ms Pamela! It seems as if you have all of the correct hair products. You may have to moisturize more frequently because you have grey (dry hair) and you have dye (which can dry the hair out as well) so you may have to consider your moisture cycle. Do you know what that is: th-cam.com/video/g8nAxafl11Q/w-d-xo.html

@@KarenofCurlHouse I fully understand how to hydrate my hair now because of your attention to detail and the way you break things down. It’s not rambling. It’s teaching or educating us how to properly care for our hair.
Thank you for your video; very informative. I have one question, doesn’t aloe Vera contain its own protein molecule (wouldn’t that additive make your hair dry and overtime break off)?🤔
H Elizabeth! Aloe Vera is 99% water, so although it does contain protein, it is in miniscule amounts. Also, by diluting aloe vera with water, further diminishes to potency of the protein. But aloe vera (like glycerin) is one of those ingredients where some people love it and some don’t. For some, it makes their hair too soft, while others, it stiffens the hair. However I find that most people respond well to aloe when it is diluted in a spray or any leave in conditioner type. Thanks for your question!
I am currently using a similar DIY spray such as this. However, I am always wondering if the spray bottle needs to be cleaned and how often? Any suggestions?? I love your channel and learn soooooo much!!! Thank you!!!
Hello I noticed you ask the question regarding your spray bottle. I have the same issue periodically what I was told to do is soak the bottle and sprayer in vinegar and water combo. (Separate the two)Do this over night and make sure you spray the combo in sprayer several times. You might have to do this once a month or every other month. I use distilled water and I get clogging issues but not often. This information is on internet on how to use the method. Yes, it is so annoying but minerals in the water can destroy a lot of things pipes, washing machines, etc. best of Luck👍🏾🙏🏾
A few tips, if you don't want the hassle of using a preservative: use distilled water; make a smaller sized bottle that you will use up in less than a week; consider keeping your mix in the fridge.
@@KarenofCurlHouse OK, thanks. I have homemade rosemary “infused” oil, J’can black castor oil and of course olive oil on hand but need to get the glycerin; hoping my local Walmart carries it; heading there today to check. Thanks again ❤️🙏
I have listened to several videos (especially yours) and finally settled on leave-in conditioner (Design Essentials) with water to use prior to styling my hair. That seems to be working.
If you wanted to add aloe vera to this mixture, how much would you add and what type of aloe vera? The leave in conditioner I used to use has been discontinued. It was the Urban Hydrators Aloe Vera and Cucumber leave in conditioner. Everything else I've tried has too much oil and it leave my fine 3C hair limp without much hydration. And where do you purchase the vegetable glycerin?
PS, and I been drinking Neocell with collagen, i for a couple of and my hair is shoulder and curly, and I love the taste berry, lemonade, I always buy a jar from Amazon when I run out. it makes me sleep better and give joint support..😊
Jojoba oil. You can actually use any carrier oil such as castor, olive, grapeseed, but the one I mentioned in the video is Jojoba Oil. You can purchase it here: amzn.to/3T1LppA
You sound knowledgeable. However, that first bottle you used didn't look like the same bottle that appeared to have more than 8oz of water in it when you added the glycerin. Thanks for the info you shared.
Water + humectant ( 10% glycerin ) + oil (10%)
Optional: few drops of essential oil. Mix by shaking. Apply to hair based on each person’s dryness level.
YOU GOT IT 🙌🏾

So yes, you can use glycerin. Here's a link: amzn.to/3I7aFnX
@@KarenofCurlHouse Thanks!

@@yvonnemoore2734 you are very welcome!! 🤗

Fabulous!!! Thank you so much! Loving what i do and love to share my gift with world!
I started using a vegetable glycerin on my silver hair I love the shine it makes it..
Yes yes yes! My favorite for my gray too 🙌🏾💜
Because I live in a humid state (South Florida) can I use aloe Vera juice/gel instead.
Yes yes yes!!! Glycerin may be a little too much for a humid environment
I learned so much! thank you!

Hi Karen, I'm interested in purchasing the scalp repair bundle, but it's sold out. Is there a wait list?
Hey there Francine! I am in the process of doing some rebranding, so all my inventory (other than the scalp drops) are sold out for the next 3 months or so. I do have some products still available on amazon: amzn.to/3UFdIvg
Thank you @@KarenofCurlHouse for getting back to me. I will check out the Amazon link. I look forward to the drop of your rebranding products!
@@FrancineSheffieldSGAM You are very welcome! Those products are selling on Amazon. Hope something is left -- but again, new products coming soon!
Excellent video. I enjoyed the attention to detail.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
And I love how you said 'attention to detail' as I typically think I'm rambling on! LOL! 😂
@@KarenofCurlHouse I fully understand how to hydrate my hair now because of your attention to detail and the way you break things down. It’s not rambling. It’s teaching or educating us how to properly care for our hair.

@@harriet7676 Thanks so much Ms. Harriet!! I will definitely try this out 💜!!!
A few tips, if you don't want the hassle of using a preservative: use distilled water; make a smaller sized bottle that you will use up in less than a week; consider keeping your mix in the fridge.
Hi this is off the topic your teeth are so nice if you don't mind what products do you use

You sooo much!
Great advice, sounds good and I’ll give it a go, just have to get the oils suggested. Thanks a lot.
You can use olive, castor, grapeseed - any carrier oil actually
@@KarenofCurlHouse OK, thanks. I have homemade rosemary “infused” oil, J’can black castor oil and of course olive oil on hand but need to get the glycerin; hoping my local Walmart carries it; heading there today to check. Thanks again ❤️🙏
Off subject, but are you rocking a twist/or flat twist out or a braid/cornrow out?
Hey there! This is a flat two strand twist out. I kept the flat twists in for about 3 or 4 days before untwisting.
I have listened to several videos (especially yours) and finally settled on leave-in conditioner (Design Essentials) with water to use prior to styling my hair. That seems to be working.
Hey there! YES! I love DE too - got their leave in right in my bathroom 🙌🏾

What is the name of oil please.

You are welcome … but no switchups … same bottle. 😉
I can only use glycerin during the winter.
That makes since because the summer humidity is a beast!!!

How would coconut oil and castor oil work
Hi Pamela! Caster oil yes -- but could use fractionated coconut oil if you like, but it is a penetrating oil
