My whole adult life I’ve been “deep conditioning” my hair by sleeping with a hair mask/deep conditioner on it, inside of a plastic bag. And my entire adult life I’ve dealt with horrible hair breakage. It just occurred to me 2 days ago that keeping my hair wet for that long was probably weakening it. And probably why I get so my shedding while combing it after rinsing the mask.

Absolutely stop it. Stop sleeping with conditioners on your hair and follow the manufacturers instructions. After the allotted time, it's useless. It also weighs your hair down and rots your hair out.

I’ve personally found that relaxing my hair every 6 months is my sweet spot. My routine is that I relax my hair then leave it out and style for about a month or two, then I do braids as a protective style and keep them in for about 2 months. I’ve found that braids has kept me from manipulating my hair and retaining length. BUT something to really take in mind like you said is proper breakdown with the braids and moisturizing them while they’re in and when taking them down.
(Also I found that old school grease - Dax in particular has helped to soften my hair while in braids and is the ONLY product that drastically reduced my dandruff and dry scalp)

      @@StyleDomination
It’s like a vacuum cleaner. That’s the best way to describe the drying hose. It stretches your hair dry. WITHOUT MANIPULATION.
      It’s fantastic for me because
      -I am tender-headed.
      -I perspire heavily with blow-dryers.
-And combing or brushing my hair during blow drying leaves little pieces of my relaxed hair everywhere.
      -My ends love to split.
      With the RevAir-
      1) no pain at all!
      2) It’s does not feel hot, so I
      don’t perspire!
      3) My hair doesn’t shed and break off in the process of drying it.
      4)It’s a faster process.
5)My ends lost their desire to split! Why? I am not sure. It’s possible that the RevAir does not punish the ends. Like regular hair dryers.
      - Secret Tip: Take a little break after drying your hair, using the RevAir, for about a half-hour or an hour before you flatiron, if flat-ironing. This should always be the case, but salons especially won’t give clients that break between blow drying and flat-ironing. They should though!
( also, like a vacuum cleaner, whatever hair that is shed is stored in a little container and you can see it-I look at how little my hair sheds in the process of drying with the Rev-Air and I am so happy that I could cry.)
Where was this RevAir all my life???? And for all the little girls and natural hair girls that are pained through wash day? They ALL love it. Relaxed women love it.
Cons: it’s expensive. Maybe it’s going down in price here and there. I bought mine discounted on e bay. Just check all around and compare prices. (Worth every penny!!!!!!)
It’s heavy. My arms can handle it.
It takes up more space. I have room for something that miraculously changed my hair journey.
I am finally retaining inches!!!! Most women can retain hair health. But many can’t retain inches!!!
With the RevAir, Dom, you would probably have tailbone length hair in a year and a half. And you would need bodyguards to keep certain women from physically tackling you, to try to check your scalp with their own fingers, because they desperately would want to believe that is not all of your hair. When it is.

Absolutely get one. Shop around on search engines. You may find a good price. It’s really a scientific marvel.
Once you get used to it, you’ll probably try to get your hairdresser to use it when she is ready to blow dry your hair. Even if you have to bring it with you.
Not having shedding with blow drying, and having a cool head during the process is super super addicting. Just watch some TH-cam videos of ladies with relaxed hair using it.
Some hair influencers use it and don’t show nor tell that they do any more. I know a few that do this. I won’t name names. But, they use it.
But, I do wonder why they hide that they are using it. It’s probably some business decision for their hair channel. Maybe because it’s a bit expensive.

@michelleclark8099 This is actually false. There is a gradual rise in allergies from so-called vegan, natural, and organic products. Sometimes it is the preservatives, extracts or fragrances causing the allergies. I have a relative that has reactions to so many of these types of products but no reaction to things like Creme of Nature Products or conventional petroleum based pomades, grease, oil sheen etc. I told her to use what works for her and that everything doesn't work for everybody.

Conditioner to protect from the salt and chlorine before swimming, co-wash it out after and for the sun leave in conditioner or SPF for the hair. Definitely wait a week or two before swimming after you had your relaxer. I grew up in the Caribbean- freshly relaxed hair and swimming was a no-no! I live in London, England now. When I go swimming in the Caribbean or Mediterranean, I wear a hat, scarf or swim cap to protect my hair from the sun. People laugh at me but I do not want my fragile hair damaged by the sun, especially with ageing.
