    This is great information! I have had relaxed hair since before i can remember, I'm at the old age when relaxed hair was the norm for little black girls, so I can't remember when my mom wasn't relaxing my hair. I would add to the conversation that some textured hair just can't take a relaxer, so if you are struggling and seeing breakage, you might consider a different hair care method. I am 1 of 4 daughters and my hair takes a relaxer with no problem and no breakage problem, my three sisters have all had problems and haven' t been able to use a relaxer without breakage. So, 2 of them have gone natural and one consistently uses a weave.AA curl patterns are so different, you have to work with what you have!

    I've just discovered your TH-cam channel today and watched this video. I wear a short pixie relaxed hairstyle and have noticed some breakage in a small section of my crown, so I was looking for some up-to-date information on caring for my hair. Any way, I was thoroughly impressed with this video; you clearly know your stuff... and it was beautifully explained and delivered. I'm now a new subsriber! Thanks again!

    Olaplex works better on clean hair. You have to use a clarifying shampoo first to remove the build up on your hair, then apply the olaplex step 3 trmt. This allows it to penetrate better.

    I stopped perming my hair 8 years ago because I was LITERALLY going bald at the top front of my head. I started back perming it in October 2019 and I haven't had any issues yet. Perming it every 2 months and measuring the activator. Each bottle of perm activator is exactly 3 tablespoons. I only put 2 tablespoons and, my scalp doesn't burn and, it doesn't smell like chemicals when I'm done washing it. Maybe this will be helpful to someone else

    Thank you for this video, I recently texlaxed my hair after 6yrs natural. Everything is new to me because when I was relaxed previously, I never really focused on hair health and I now realise just how severely damaged my hair was. I tried Olaplex a week after texlax and I shampooed first ( hair felt stripped after😱) then put HALF the bottle in my hair and left it in for 4hours😱😱🙈🙈. It got really dry and crunchy and omg it was horrible!! I'm trying to get it back to soft and moisturized. Next time I will try your way. Thanks for the tips❤❤

      After the Olaplex No. 3 you’re supposed to shampoo then deep condition the hair. The directions for Olaplex No. 3 say leave on for 10 mins or longer. I leave on for 30 mins with a plastic cap, then I shampoo & deep condition. 4 hours is too long. Did you use genuine Olaplex or a knock-off?

    • @kijibeTo
      @kijibeTo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bumblebee4024 it was genuine Olaplex, it got it from Lookfantastic.com (im in the UK). I have since used it as directed and my hair feels so much better. I'm a straight hair natural. I was previously relaxed for years since I was 12 years old. I stopped relaxing my hair in 2016 and transitioned to natural. The reason being is because no matter how well I cared for my relaxed hair I always dealt with dryness, split ends and pretty severe breakage at times. My hair is fine in texture and high porosity. I just don't think my hair type can withstand a relaxer. However I prefer wearing my hair straight so I find watching your channel extremely helpful for my haircare needs since I do straight styles most of the time. I straighten my hair every 2 to 3 weeks. Sometines I'll stretch to 4 weeks just to kind of give my hair a rest in between blow outs and flat ironing. Love watching your channel. Your haircare tips (primarily on moisturizing and sealing) have helped me retain so much length. I've finally reached bra strap length lol. That's for creating great knowledgeable content! Btw I also love your effortless style and great personality!

    I have been relaxing about 40plus years. Now that I need to color. I get my relaxer and color the next week. My hair is just past my shoulder blades. I'm having problems finding the right hairdryer that will dry my hair. I don't blow dry. I stay away from that type of heat. I roller set and use a hood hairdryer. But my hair is to long for it to dry after 2 hours. Any suggestions on a really good hairdryer. Blow drying is off the table.

    Why would a first time relaxer break my hair? I did it myself and have used lye and no lye. Both times my hair fell off (many months apart and no prior relaxer) within 2 weeks. Ive had to start braiding again. I even used less activator than what the bottle indicated. Still breakage. Moisurizer was being used as well. I am afraid to try again. I dont know if the issue is not enough washing after the relaxer is complete.

    Hi great tips in the video love this channel! Recently I experienced heartbreaking damage to my hair due to hygral fatigue. I usually moisturize & seal every other day but lately I’ve been doing it daily. I used a natural hair mask that claimed to be protein mask and applied a dc after with cap. BUT I later found out the mask was actually a moisturizing treatment with no protein benefits. My hair was so greasy and thin with breakage after I washed it out! Next time I won’t trust hair masque recipes and also be more cautious about protein/moisture balance

I wear a long pixie so of course there’s new growth. What products would you recommend until I’m able to get to the salon. I’m California so it could be a few more weeks. Sorry for the lengthy message.

My washday is a nightmare, I prepoo, deep condition once a week, detangle wet or detangle damp or detangle dry, nothing works for me. I moisture and seal, do protein treatment once a month, put a satin bonnet at night. Nothing works, it still acts like it's damaged, dry and stiff.🤷🏽‍♀️😂
    It grows. It's midback now. But taking care of it is so stressful ans exhausting.
    My hair is like my ennemy😂 sometimes I just want to cut it all off.
    Do you have an idea about what's doing wrong please?
