That’s because some pillows are so nasty and so far gone that it’s time to say goodbye and start again. BUT there are some pillows that are still truckin', and that's’ where this video comes in!

In this video, you’ll also learn how to clean your pillow covers and the nuances of washing pillows with bleach! I’ll show you how to gently give your pillowcase a nice bleach bath to get out the really tough stains. And I’ll walk you through washing your travel pillow (it’s a must!).
Please remember that there are so many pillows out there that not all of them should be machine washed and dried (or have a bleach bath). It’s essential that you follow the care instructions on your own tag first.

I didn't use this method but I literally just washed mine and the pillow looks like new (it was a lot worse than the one in this video). Here's how I did it. I used a plastic storage bin instead of the bathtub (but I did have the bin in the bathtub) to reduce water waste and to confine the ingredients. Fill with hot water, enough to cover the pillow, but not too much more because the pillow will just float. Before adding the pillow, add the ingredients which are Oxi Clean and detergent. The Oxi Clean comes in a small oval shaped tub like a half gallon ice cream and it says "For sweat, musty towels and body odor." Using the scoop that comes with it I added two scoops. Then add one scoop of detergent. The detergent I used was also granular and much smaller so you don't need much...if at all. With the ingredients added to the water stir it up till the granules are broken down, add the pillow and totally saturate it. Let it sit for 30 minutes then flip it over. You will have already noticed a noticeable difference in appearance. I let mine soak for 6 hours, flipping it over every hour. It was clean at this point but one cycle through the washing machine cleaned out the excess soap and Oxi. Afterwards I threw in in the dryer and now it's as good as new. Good luck!

O my.. the pillow filling is cotton. After washing it using top load the stain didnt totally gone like just small spots or faint residual left. Because of no dryer it was placed under the sun like more than 5 hours but its not completely dry and less fluffy.

How do you wash couch pillows
I've made my own pillows by hand-sewing muslin together. I used a double-backstitch and they're filled with polyfill with zippers sewn into one end. They're meant to be inserted into larger pillowcases; I made them because around 2017 I ordered pillows from Amazon and they worked, but not the greatest. I wanted more though, so I reordered them in 2021, and they cost me $80 and were not the same pillows as I got in 2017. I sent them back and made my own with like $35 worth of muslin and polyfill.
I'm kind of worried that the polyfill won't wash right, but I need to wash them. I don't want to waste polyfill by throwing it away (polyester does not biodegrade and is expensive to replace nowadays) but I'm worried that the original Amazon pillows (which need the most attention) are going to fall apart in the wash if I leave the polyfill in them.

Just read my beauty rest black pillow and it said machine wash cold on gentle cycle with like colors. Non chlorine bleach only.
Do you have any advice on top loader machines? I have two pillows which are machine washable, but every time I try to wash them they inflate so much they come out the top of the machine, and I can never get through the full cycle! (for reference my machine is quite large - 8kg). Are there any tip or tricks to deal with this? I think if I tried one pillow it would cause a balancing issue, so I'm not really sure what to do. Frustrating because I want to wash my pillows 😢

I get my arms wet and roll or wring or push and shove the pillows until I squeeze all the air out through the fabric cover. I also have a regular red rubber plunger to help, that I keep expressly for the wash. That will saturate them nicely so they won't float. My real problem is it's entirely hit or miss whether the fill clumps up. I've sometimes managed to unclump the fill once dry, but not always. My question is what to do with a clumped up pillow as I feel entirely evil sending such a large item to landfill 😞... ok ok, I'll bag the clumped up one at the back of my closet and send it this week 😞

I loved the video! Very helpful! So I Have an embarrassing question. So sometimes when I've got my period I wake up with a few spots on my sheets and pants. How do you get blood stains out of sheets and clothes?
Put hydrogen peroxide on it, let it sit and try to dab out as much as you can, and then use some oxi clean and or spot treat it :)

also a pure soap bar works nicely (detergent does not)
So basically we just need to read the care label..... and follow that.

Get your arms wet in the machine and wring the air out before starting the agitator.

I cant use tennis balls (I am allergic to latex). I use to have latex free drier balls but I no longer have them.
If you're not allergic to wool, Wal*mart has a pair of wool Dryer balls for $4.57. You can find them in the furniture aisle or use the app and search. Input your zip code and the app will show you in what aisle the product is in stock in at your store.

Over a heater vent or old fashioned radiator (do not put over a source that could light it on fire with red hot heating elements). For sure outdoors in the warm weather and in full sun all day, turning the pillow as needed.
We change pillow never wash it.
Guys, don't wash one pillow like they did in the video. They'll be a REALLY good chance your washer wont be able to spin because of the weight imbalance. Try to wash at least two at a time.
