    A tip for keeping pillows clean: use two pillowcases. This is how I grew up so it is the norm for me, but it is the same concept as using a mattress pad under the sheet. I use older pillowcases underneath and only wash them from time to time and change the top case every week.

    I love pillow and mattress protectors for my allergic family! I purchase tightly woven material pillow protectors (allergy kind) and buy them when purchasing any new bed pillows. The protective covers go on immediately before use or after a pillow is washed and dried. It is my understanding that the protectors cut down or practically eliminate dust mites and other allergens that live in our bedding (especially pillows that our faces touch daily.) Also use two pillow cases, which are washed weekly. Or replaced more often if someone is sick.
    Hanging the dry pillows occasionally in the sun also helps air them out, then toss them in the dryer on air only to fluff them up and also "dusts" them off from any pollen that landed while outside. In my experience, if you use warm/hot dryer setting on unwashed pillows, the stinky rancid hair oil gets baked in. Spraying the pillows with alcohol is also good. Since my family has sensitivities, perfume scents, like Fabreeze isn't a good choice for us. The alcohol works best for the pillows and bedding.
    Frequent pillow case changes, multi-protectant layers between the original pillow and our faces has helped with allergies. Plus freshly washed pillow cases and sheets are so inviting when you climb into bed. Thanks for your tips!

    4:30 For anyone who has difficulty with strong fragrances, I wouldn't recommend using Odo Ban. I personally get headaches and sore throats, temporarily, from products that have strong, perfume-type smells. Odo Ban is such a product. Just putting it out there for anyone else who is sensitive to strong odors.

    I use a very expensive ortho pillow. I washed the last one in the washing machine, without checking the tag, and it fell apart! Going to try this method. TFS 🌞
    P.S. Hope that you vacuumed the bed where you had the pillows sitting.

    Hi Andrea I tried using the hydrogen peroxide and dawn dish soap trick on my pillow while it was drying outside because it still had small yellow stains on it and when I went back outside an hour later to check the pillow it caused even bigger yellow stains where I used the mixture. What can I do now to get rid of the new stains?

    • @AndreaJean

    Can I use your method for cleaning pillows to clean a feather comforter?

    • @Mt-ue9qz
      @Mt-ue9qz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t watched yet but I know one can wash (launder) down feathers comforter and pillows bc I have been for over a decade, same ones all these years. If you wash twice a year two washes using two different types of soap. If once a year I suggest three washes. Hot water for at least one of them. Then spin them twice if possible. The hardest part is drying. The main two points are 1- dry slowly at first, breaking up the clumps between and during cycles and 2-get it 100% or more dry. You should not be able to smell anything off if dried completely. All this info applies to the pillows too. I wash 3 together for more friction. Use a degreaser like Fulsol helps too.Oh, and adding tennis balls to the last two or more drying cycles but not the first two assist in feather break up.
