Why should you clean your pillow? Even if you use a pillowcase, dirt, sweat, drool and facial oil and skin cells can all be absorbed through your pillowcase and end up in your pillow. If you don’t keep it clean, it’ll build up over time and not only become unhygienic but it’ll stop your pillow from being as awesome as it should.
How you should clean your pillow depends a lot on its construction and materials. Always check the tag for specific care instructions for your pillow. But if you can’t find any you can follow these basic instructions:
Polyester, microfibers, down/down alternatives and some shredded foam pillows? Use a washing machine. Do a gentle cold cycle and use a tennis ball wrapped in a tube sock in the dryer to help break up the filling and allow it to dry faster.
Solid foam pillows and other interesting fillings (like Kapok fibers)? Spot clean by hand. You don’t want the solid foam to trap water and grow bacteria. Get a little detergent on a washcloth and gently press on the stain in your pillow (or the whole thing). Ring it out and let it air dry for as long as it needs to be completely dry.

Mattress Clarity the whole video is done in the tone of “I’m going to show you how to get your dirty pillow clean” and it should be more “what to do not to get there”. I was actually hoping this will be a useful video of how to clean the dirty pillow.
@@urszulawoodburn1549 I put one or two pillow protectors plus the pillow case on my pillows, and wash the protectors when they get dirty. I use a matress protector as well.

I thought I was still sleeping in filth when my pillows didn't get washed every time I washed my sheets (weekly). Even with my current physical difficulty, I get super anxious when it passes 2-3 weeks mark. I even wash my memory foam pillow and just make sure that it is aired out after the gentle dryer cycle. But then again I used to foam wash my sofas and curtains on a monthly basis too. People need to avoid purchasing things that can not be directly washed, specially when they're regularly used. Your video makes me feel a little better. Thank you.

Just put 2 pillows in the washer with detergent. Wash them. Dry 1 at a time until totally dry. I put 1 pillow at a time in the dryer on low or fluff for 30 minutes or more every week just to fluff them up and remove odors. I also always use a zip on/off dust mite impervious cover under the regular pillow case. Wash both the cover and the pillow case weekly or more often so needed.
I rotate the pillow every 6 months
