Are the distributors interchangeable between all 304 and 345 engines?

I’ve got a 78 Scout II with all original carburetor, distributor cap, etc. (my dad was original owner, passed it down to me). First time I start the engine each day it takes 10-12 seconds of turning it over before it starts. After that it’ll start right away for the rest of the day. Will this Pertronix upgrade fix that, and make the engine start right away first-time? Or am I looking at a different fix?

hola tengo un scout 73 ya cambié los platinos del distribuidor y coloque un petronix funciono por 2 años y nuevamente dejó de funcionar te a sucedido? Gracias saludos cordiales desde Costa Rica
