    The new Model S is really efficient. 15% more efficient than a 2016 Model S Facelift, even with its wide tyres (285 vs. 245). I made a 130 km Autobahn comparison with both cars and the clear winner is the new MS LR of 2023.

  • @davidkendall2272

    Wow, thanks for doing this. I have 2022 MSLR with the same tires. I have personally been very impressed with its efficiency as compared to my previous two MS's (2012 MS85 and 2015 MS85D). I am getting consistently greater than 4 miles/kW.

    • @shakedzadok9727
      @shakedzadok9727 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I got you right , 4 Miles to KW it's 150~ kwh per KM , can you tell where you driving and in which conditions?
      Im thinking to buy MSLR , 90% of my driving is inside small city (5-10 km each driver) and in warm whether around 30-40 Celsius in summer and 15-25 in avg all of the year. Israel. It's hot in here.
      I really want to buy an ev that does 500 km on a single charge, will it be the one?

    The Lucid car had better efficiency than the Model S in EPA range tests, so it's interesting that the Model S had the better efficiency here. The EPA test doesn't take account of energy used by the AC. So it might be that the octovalve is winning the efficiency battle for the Model S in Bjorn's tests.

Also won't blame him for the tyres on the lucid, since lucid are so stupid enough not to change or allow customers change their tyres themselves except they bring it in..

    Thanks for your videos, its always a pleasure to watch... I can feel you like what you are doing and you are into to the numbers... the tires as such could also make a difference. Pirelli vs Michelin, where Michelin should cause less drag; that could also be worth a video when nothing changed besides the tires... Second I wounder why you never mentioned tire pressure. I'm pretty sure you take that in consideration, but you never mentioned.

    I think EVs hit the efficieny ceiling of the drivetrain. 140-150wh/km for 90km/h and 190-200wh/km for 120km/h. Rest is now in the hands of battery tech

      For this weight class, yes. I guess the new small VAG cars (ID.2 and Cupra Raval) could have a little lower consumption at least at 90 km/h, somwhere around 120 Wh/km, if they don't mess up auxiliary consumption.

    Ever considered taking a Tesla and drive it like an Asian, then make another run on cruise control to match the same average speed and check which one is more efficient?
    I bet a lot of people would be curious. 😉

    That was surprisingly anticlimactic.
    Throughout the years, we have seen Tesla making step by step improvements towards a more efficient car.
    The Model S has always been the range flagship, the golden standard, with which every other brand/model has been compared.
    Seems they ditched that in favour of lap times on the Nürnburgring raceway.
    The Model S is dead. Long live the Model S.
