    The only credible efficiency test for EVs. This is now DIN Bjorn. Your consistency in testing is appreciated and your credibility is hard earned........a lot of km travelled. Let's not forget that Tesla also has the FSD computer running pretty much all the time (in shadow mode), which also does consume some power. Other cars don't have it yet.

      If it consumes 100 W, at 90 km/h it will add:

    Tire resistance in rain. I was driving in a slightly downsloping tunnel (the last one before reaching Yantian in Shenzhen) and switched on neutral, the car was rolling down at 80km/h, then came out of the tunnel on to the wet road (but no rain) where the downgrade got steeper, and the car started slowing down. I never really thought about how much resistance the rain causes but even the wet road is affecting that much, wow.

      @@Muskar2 😂😂😂yes you are right around here most inter-city roads are 100km/h with a few rare 110 sections, as it's ~900-1000km between cities and the 80 and 90 sections are more common than the 110 the average is ~90-100 so 100km is roughly equal 1hr. Typically you will pass several fixed and mobile speed cameras an hour so if you speed you won't have a license long. I once passed 13 speed cameras in a hour, 1-13km over the limit would cost me 1 point, but we only get 12, so if I was speeding that day I would have lost my license in less than an hour, not worth the risk.

      75 mph is where its at imo. Doing 55 mph is too slow and it would take forever to get anywhere (anywhere over 70 miles away that is).

      You missed the point of the 90 km/h test. It's to simulate city/slower highways. Remember that there's no four lane 120 km/h motorway all the way to your home or to your cabin. lol

    • @kwl189
      @kwl189 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bjørn Nyland I think that is the difference more between countries. In UK we have two or three lanes at up to 40 mph but then motorway is up to 70 mph with occasional 50 mph average speed zone for road works. So long road trips will often be at 70 mph. That’s why for some of us the 120 km/h test is more relevant for long term ownership.

    • @allisterbullock213
      @allisterbullock213 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In the last 4 or 5 years that I've travelled to the UK I have never not seen a motorway that wasn't restricted with variable speed zones 60-40 mph (M25) or average speed checks 50 mph (M4, M20, M26 - listed in order of frequency), so I would say he's not far wrong for UK conditions either. I think the M5 was one of the few that I could consistently travel full motorway speed (traffic depending) and possibly also the 42 & 40 but I don't travel the full length of these.

    Man I wish mine could reasonably get anywhere close to this. I have the same vehicle, but it's so hot here that the AC pretty much eats any range efficiency I try to get. In fairness I do not use range mode but even when I tried it wasn't this good. Thankfully i do not require anywhere near this range, I only charge the car 1-2x per week and it's usually well above 40% when I start to charge. Either way cool test!

    It's very exciting, but not realistic to drive 90 km/h on the motorway. This is the tempo of the kamion. The allowed speed is 130 km/h in the most european countries. So, i think many people would be curious what is the real range at speed of 140-160 km/h. There was an other test where a Tesla S model (100 kW/h) could go a little over 300 km range at speed of 130 km/h.

    01:20 Am I one of those [apparently] few people who prefer a smaller wheel and bigger tyre ratio over the options available? Pretty much all the advantages are in the standard wheel and tyre combo. On most vehicles, for that matter. Much nicer ride, quieter, better range, and looks [at least to me], and costs. OK, so it goes round corners a tad less well. Not enough for me to change my preferences. And though not here, what's this love affair with blacked out wheels as well? I like wheels too, so I like to see them. So this Tesla looks extra nice to me because the wheels are bright and the wheel/tyre size ratio has a nice balance.

It always needed me to supercharge it though before it would be this efficient (I even got into a habit of stopping at my local supercharger which is 15 mins from my house to do a quick 5 mins charge to heat everything up). Day to day shorter trips (12-20miles) the efficiency would be half.
