Scotsman Flaker ice machine code 2 and making a loud grinding noise

Troubleshooting this Scotsman flaker ice machine Model #F1222A. The customer called in to say that their ice machine was making a loud noise and making any ice. I found that the top bearing had failed and the Auger was grinding against the Evaporator.

Good call on the disabling of the sensors an probes. To many people would not do that and walk away. Going to be watching more of your videos. Doing lots of work for a well known coffee place that uses ice o mastics and FOLLET machines.

I took a Follet class one-time, best class ever. I got to do actual repairs and auger work. Unlike the Scotsman which was nothing but a giant sales pitch.

The auger turns inside the evaporator. It pushes the ice up and out the top so that is can end up in the storage bin.

12 years got it. Too bad they didn’t just do regular maintenance. A good Tek could have caught that and rebuilt the evap before it got bad.

Yes I agree. I’ve been told that regularly greasing that bearing can greatly increase the life of your machine.
