There is a gap in the industry to "test drive" a firearm. A buyer unfortunately needs to rely on too many opinions without firing the thing until you have undergone the entire process.
@spotw88 100% Many gun shops don't have the option or luxury of having "test guns". Gunnery Arms does have a few popular models to test out. Unfortunately it's quite difficult yo have each and every model available to test.
Ask friends and family who do hunting and sharp shooting, they can allow you to shoot their weapons under their supervision. That is how you find out what works best for you.
Not sure where you stay, but there are a few places in Gauteng that offer to take you to the range using their provided pistols. Obviously it costs money and they don't have everything, but a good place to start is just going to the gun shop. Feeling what fits right and if it's something that isn't too niche like a G19 or P10C they will almost 100% let you test drive them. But I agree. It is quite the process to test drive them if you are starting new and fresh and don't have any contacts to help you out.
Brands are very important. I’ve got many Sig, cz, Canik, Staccato’s. Sig parts are a nightmare. Cz and glock(🤢) have got the best aftermarket parts for South Africa. 9mm is the best way to go for price and recoil management. Pretty kak if you can’t get back on target. Great video but I think you missed the most important thing. Go to a range and shoot and after that shoot more.Know your firearm. Proper training is the best investment. Join your local club and it’s a great community.🏆🏆🏆
100% agree with that! After you obtain your gun, train as much as possible and definitely try plug into the local firearm community. Typically a great bunch of guys😁

Unfortunatly, 40sw. was developed for our FBI. It lacked proper development and ended up being another terminally ballistic 45acp. What was lacking( as we now know) was a 135/150 grain bullet at 1325 to 1450fps. The 9mm. theory is OK for some. The reality is, in order for instant incapacication to occur; you must have a rapidly expanding bullet that can generate at least 525ft.lbs muzzle energy ( 575 to 600 is better) Without going into a lot of physiology and terminal ballistics history, I will say this: Rapid compression of thoratic blood vessels ( remember; valves inside veins and arteries only allow blood to flow in one direction) will cause a blood pressure spike, forcing a few capillaries in the brain to burst. This is nothing more than a brain bleed/contusion concussion. This happened often with 125grn semi jacket HP 357mag. back when state troopers and other LEO carried those revolvers. The only video footage of this "instant incapacitation" that I have viewed recently is: NC Trooper, Rodney Cook shoots driver pointing gun at Cook. Trooper Cook fires his Sig 320 in 357sig once; instantly incapacitating the perp. or knocking him unconscious.
From what I have seen, and the history, European origin South Africans have a target on their backs, wheen they are attacked they are many times outnumbered and attackers appear to have in many instances AKM or assault rifles. For those reasons, I would carry a compact 9mm with at least 15 rounds capacity and at least one spare loaded magazine if not more. The gun has to be easy to conceal, with good capacity, and also one you can get parts for easily.
I went with the CZ P10C in 9mm. It was what was available and supported at my gun store and the reviews I watched were slightly better than Glock, which was my second choice. I prefer products from trusted, well received companies with a good history.
Same here. Never shot it either. Got a great deal. Got approved last week. Waiting for arrival of my Czp10c. Can't wait anymore. Like I said, never shot it before, so it'll bethe very first for me.
Recently discovered this channel after purchasing my Canik Mete. However the advises given in this clip is very essential especially on the aspect "reason why you buying the firearm". Looking forward to more content and hope this page grows. Tired of watching American YT videos that lacks SA context
I'm carrying a P10C, and also left it stock just 2 mags with a plus 2 shoe on and then the normal 15 round mag in the firearm at all times. But ja 9mm is the best round to have at the moment in SA like you said everyone carries it.
Great SA content! Just subscribed recently and impressed with the info.Another important factor is training, reseach and getting familiar with your gun.
Very useful video, thanks for the info... I have the Glock 27 for my carry. It conceals easily, is comfortable in the holster, reliable as hell. I enjoy the feel in the hand and all in all I really enjoy the shooting experience I get from it. Your point on ammo, however, is very well struck. I have never had any trouble sourcing 40 S&W, but in recent years it has become heavy on the pocket. When I first started shooting, a box of 50 (full metal jacket) was about R 300.00, now a box has gone up to approximately R 700.00. Ideally, if I am going through to shoot, I like to put 100 rounds through the barrel. To justify the R 1 400.00 for 100 rounds, every time I go to the range, though, is becoming increasingly difficult. It is for this reason that I will probably be shifting to a 9mm.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting😁 I carried a S&W M&P 40 for many years. When I bought it ammo was well priced and in abundance... As you say, over the years it has gotten scarce and expensive. The G27 is a great pistol though. If you ever decided to get a 9mm, I would keep the G27😁
Greetings from across the pond. Living outside of a Murder City in the US, there is a spill over of home invasions and car jackings by the same species of violent criminals as in SA. I go to my outdoor gun club range regularly, weather permitting for practice. I have a 45 Long Colt revolver next to my bed, and a CZ 82 in 9mm Mak with 2 magazines next to my computer table. I also own a Mossberg 590 Military 12 ga. shotgun with extended magazine and bayonet lug for the occasional riots by the usual suspects. I have been fortunate enough to live thru many riots from 1968 until the present day without ever having to fire a shot, thanks to our National Guard and Governors who were not afraid to use them. I have always been armed at home, but live in a State without Castle Doctrine, nor a right to carry concealed. I carry an entrenching tool, sheath knife, and hard hickory walking cane in my car. I also live in a State that is a Sanctuary State welcoming illegal aliens which increases gang and drug activity. When seconds count the police are only 20 minutes away, even though the local department is only 2 miles from my house. When your government will not protect you and they foster a revolving door justice system, only you can protect yourself. Sic Semper Tyrannis
Welcome to the wild west!! The whole world exept certain eastern European countries Russia and China are going to hell thanks to insane liberal policies!
Thanks for your comment! The Western world is in trouble. The moral fibre of society is being broken down by the evil woke movement. As a result, good men are few and lawlessness runs rampant. I'm not American, but I am sure the current state of the US would make the founding fathers turn in their graves. It is very sad that criminals are being emboldened with liberal laws, while citizens, such as yourself are stripped of legal powers to defend yourselves, such as concealed carry laws. I commend your mindset. You are indeed your own defender. Hopefully things change for you and common sense and justice prevails.
@GoldenSilwer Anything that generally breaks down the moral Fibre of society. Things that rob people of freedoms and force narratives. The anti-gun movement, just for one example.
Glad I went with the CZP10C in 9mm, also had some great advice from Wildman in PMB via Tyler. Easy for EDC and to find parts, easy calibre to find as well. Great advice from you too sir. Excellent video.
Awesome video! Please can you advise which AIWB holster you use for EDC with your G19? I am also looking for the G19 and want a comfortable and good quality AIWB holster ?
I have a CANiK Elite Combat Executive nad Met SFx. Both are incredible. You can also the slides. When the ECE slide is on the Mete SFx, its essentially a Mete SFT, but with a SAI threaded barrel and SAI iron sights, if your using them. Cheers from Canada.
Fully agree with many of the points made in this video, specially around the practical aspects. For many years my EDC was an H&K USPC in 40. Great gun, no complaints. Try to find a new holster, spare mag, pistol mounted light or any other accessory... no chance and if you do, you'll pay through your butt for it. So I went for a Glock 43x MOS as a replacement: aftermarket mags, new triggers, optics, holsters, anything I could want is generally available. Would I have selected the same gun if i lived in the US? Maybe not, but given our local market conditions it was the right pick for me.
That makes a lot of sense👍 We sold plenty of H&K firearms before Germany slapped us with an arms embargo, making anything German very difficult to get. There are still grey imports here and there, but very few and far between.
What is your thoughts on walther or hk? My father owns a old issue p4 and its fantastic. Low capacity but always works. Looking to get a pistol but didnt know you have to conceal carry. Im a big gut guy so it seems to be uncomfortable
I personally love both of those brands. Unfortunately due to an arms embargo placed on SA by Germany, parts are incredibly hard to come by and very expensive. I would definitely license them as a nice to have, but maybe look at a more economical option for your SD gun.
Glock definitely has some of the best aftermarket support in SA. The nice thing about guns is you don't only have to have one😅 I hereby give you permission to go buy another gun!🤣👍
I like the PX4.I also like the Croatian Made XDM 40 cal.The Colt Mk4 series 70 is one of my favourites.Sadly UK Law will not allow me to own a real EDC.God bless the USA.I have the Glock 26 and the Glock 34,which is the competition Glock.Mine are for the most part TOKYO MARUI BB REPLICA 1:1 scale and top quality at abot 300 feet per second.Enjoy your Glock.
I have a CZ 75 9mm which I never carry because of the bigger bulk - I carry a Ruger LCP II 9mm short because it goes everywhere in my jeans pocket. But yes 9mm short ammo can be difficult to get at times.
Great video, how would you rank carrying positions? I see from the video that you appendix, which is how I carry at the moment but having gained some extra weight since covid it is so uncomfortable I end up not carrying as often as I should. Lower back carry has always seemed sus to me, I don't like the idea of the firearm being behind me out of my sight.
Thanks for the great question. I personally prefer appendix carry. I did however carry strong side at 4oclock for many years quite successfully. If I am on duty I carry in a leg rig. There are many viable carry methods. I think the important thing is to go what works and makes sense for you, and then train in that way to commit it to muscle memory.
So what would everybody say is the right best barrel length for appendix carry? Im about 6ft 2 with biggish hands so all these smaller pistols dont feel right in my hand is 4 inches a good length?
Hi Mark, from your experience where you had to defend your life how many round did it take to do so? I recently switched from a G19 to the 43x as my primary EDC but I'm still a bit worried about the 11 round capacity. I know one can do the mag changes and stuff to give more capacity but rather carry some spare mags with me. Thanks for all the informative video's.
Thanks for the great question, Deon! The first 2 incidents took 1 round. My 3rd incident required 7 rounds. I always recommend carrying as much ammo as you can do so comfortably. I would rather carry a G43x and an extra mag or two instead of leaving my bugger pistol at home. I have actually ordered a G43x which will be my trail running / adventure gun. I think its a great pistol. I would probably carry an extra mag or two though.
@@gunlicence thanks for responding to my question Mark. I bought the 43x for wearing short at the beach (we got a house in Port Edward) and it soon became my edc. Last year November we very VERY lucky escaping a attempted knife robbery, I carried 2 palm size rocks my daughter wanted and got in 2 very good throws at the tshosi. The G19 were pulling my short down and were left in the safe.. stupid I know! Keep making awesome videos like this for us!
@@deonnel2810 I'm glad you can throw a rock😅Well done for defending yourself and your family! Your situation happens to many gun owners who leave their guns in the safe to quickly pop out to the shops or the beach just around the corner. Well done for making a plan.
Get a Shield Arms 15 round aftermarket mag. I know some people reported reliability issues but I haven't had any problems at all (been using v2 and v3 of the mag). ASP had a great episode on "how much ammo do you need" and in his analysis of 40k gunfights involving private citizens only a tiny fraction required a reload.
Dear Mark I have a bit of a situation on my hands..Ive purchased a Star BM 9mm for R5k..I have a Sec 13 competency but Im also in the process of getting a Glock 30S 45 Auto for R10k Im thinking that getting Sec 15 for the G30S and giving my wife the Star and getting her a Sec 13 for her personal protection and buying a G43X for EDC under Sec 13 after the transfer. Question is will it work?
Thanks for watching and commenting. In short, it seems that your plan can indeed work. Both you and your wife can license 2 handguns. One for section 13 and one for section 15. You can use either firearm for self defence. See more about that in the video we did on carrying a section 15 or 16 for self defence. Feel free to reach out to us if you need any assistance with the licensing. We offer a full money back guarantee on all of our applications😁
Spot on... Nice vid M8. In the end of the day if I may... in a stress cenario ur not gonna worry about how comfy ur weapon is... It must go bang if it needs to.But it definatly needs to be concealed. You also need to know how to use it. You absolutly need to practice with it every now and then... Although things ($$$) got out of hand these days... Ur self defence weapon helps you nothing in the safe... Budget is an issue with most, but try to stay in the top 5 brands as there is no budget when it comes to your or ur loved one's life... Sadly there's some that doesnt whant to go for theire compentency or licences due to bad service at some dfo's or with all the paperwork... and after a year or so the very same people stick to theire story's. Imagen by then you could of had ur licence allready... Stick it through guys. Be responsible and be safe... Blessings.
Beretta is my firearm of choice , not fan of glock at all... but with regards to the 9mm round , I went ar9 over ar15 due to the price and round availability. Also when it comes to reloading I can just focus on one round. Just my personal opinion...
I also went Beretta APX Compact. Just to be different. It's a great conversation starter. Much respected among people I know even though it's rarely seen. And best of all got it for a steal couple of years ago.
Your competency remains valid for the period of validity for the licence that is relates to. In short, your competency expires when your firearm licence expires.
A revolver is everybit as accurate as a 9mm if you shoot it correctly. In fact I tend to group better with my revolver than with my 9mm. And that's while shooting single action not double action. But the 9mm's greatest advantage is speed and capacity. I've got both revolver and 9mm and love both. And depending on the occasion and what I'm wearing do use both to carry
Hi. would you ever recommend an m1911 for everyday concealed carry? I know some other guns have some advantages but I just always loved that gun. don't have experience with ever carrying a firearm so I don't know the practicallity. let me know. thanks
I personally love 1911s! They are definitely not the easiest pistols to carry, but it is possible, provided you have the correct holster and belt. The nice thin about handguns is, you don't need to limit yourself to just 1😅 If possible, maybe get a more practical daily carry and carry your 1911 for "special" occasions.
Thank you so much for the reply. Really makes my decision making easier. I was thinking the same thing about getting an everyday carry that is practical and has some better capacity since 8 rounds can go really fast in a high stress situation, even for pros. your advice will be put to good use. thanks again
Hi im going for a cz p10f for ever day carry as we are buying a farm what do you think am I on rhe right path? I looked at ammo cap & accuracy as well as reliably. I'm looking at 9mm because of ammo availability.
Good afternoon. I am south african and I am looking at getting my first EDC handgun. And I was wondering if you know what the process is of online ordering from safari outdoor and how it works with that? Thank you so much in advanced
I am one of those 'armgatte' that can only afford 2nd hand revolvers (they are damn good value for money though) and i am a value for money guy plus i love their simplicity! Have been carrying a .32 long snubbie for almost 40 years ,and decided to get some.38 specials for the wife and i , tried to convince the son to get a .38 Special on exactly the argument you are making, but he says nooo he wants a '9 mil' one day !.........😢
@@quarryrats That is still "within spec". From here it should go to "in process for consideration", "consideration", then approved😁 Just to confirm for @me-cg2qf, you purchased the pistol last year but only applied this year?
Worked at a Gunshop 8years and the 1 thing that got under my skin was people bringing friend to help buy guns, 90% was glock people that said they must buy a glock, I always brought out all the different types so the people can feel the grip and if possible, we took them to shoot the firearm.
Many ranges will have a certain selection of guns to shoot, although finding anyone with "all" the guns is rare. We recommend getting in touch with www.gunneryguns.com
Awesome video. I carry a beretta apx compact that I recently obtained. I would also add beretta as a brand that spares can be sourced for. Would you recommend that you get spares when you buy a new pistol for parts that tend to break and if so what parts are those?
APX (In my 56 year old opinion) is one of the most under rated pistols on the market. The recoil reduction produced by this pistol is more evident in the older 40sw chambering, similar to S&W M&Ps in 40sw. The 9mm. are good to. I have an APX centurion in 40sw. with 2 grip modules 10 round and 13 rounds. The long rails on the removable action are key to it's smooth recoil.....maybe!?
Bought a Canik last September, specifically the TP9SF METE-S. The same one Ryan @greymanoperations has. I must say Canik is a very good choice for first time gun owners. Affordable, reliable, and value for money.
Would you recommend aftermarket parts like trigger, recoil spring etc for a everyday carry pistol. I have a cz p-09 which I love but the trigger action is spongy.
I'm personally a fan of keeping defensive guns as standard as possible. When you add aftermarket parts, essentially you add variables. I'm not saying don't do it, just be sure that your pistol maintains its safety and reliability👌
Make sure your situational and spacial awareness is on point and avoid trouble as far as possible. Pepper spray and a batton are nice force multipliers... unfortunately when you need a gun, only a gun will do.
How popular is OC/pepper spray as an intermediate option? I carry a 9mm in the US virtually always. but having pepper spray is nice as an option because 1) dogs 2) less legal risk in use in non-deadly-force situations (ASP batons are strangely very illegal in the US, but even empty hand can be more legal risk than OC if it goes wrong) 3) better than being close in less-lethal situations due to weapon retention concerns. Of course there is limited carry capacity without looking like Batman.
Very nicely worded comment. Thank you for that. OC spray is a great force multiplier, bridging the gap between shouting at someone and shooting them. In South Africa, OC spray, coupled with a batton is very effective, before needing to go to gun. I hear what you are saying in terms of legal liability. OC is always a winner.
Depending on the make and model, most barrels will be a special order item, if a supplier doesn't hold stock. People license handgun barrels for different reasons. Mainly: - Barrel replacement - Additional threaded barrel - Extra barrel You will need to apply for a new licence for the barrel. We have licensed many barrels for clients, so it can definitely be done. The tricky part is usually the dealer getting it in stock.
@tiaandebeer7221 The process is very similar. Depending on the licence section of the corresponding firearm, we will motivate on the same line, with a special focus on the specific reasons we need this additional barrel. Technical specs of barrel wear, rifling profiles, internal ballistics, supply chain issues, etc. We have a full money back guarantee on our licence applications, so we will always make sure you get the licence😅👍
The D.F.O in my area has no information for my new firearm licence on the sysrem But i applied from 2021 its going for 2024 Everyday i go to find out they give me a story that i must hold on Does saps get the approval from Pretoria before capturing it on the system or does our local police station d.f.o. get the approval then notify us. I applied first time im in a wonder what is happening When my competency certificate was approved i applied immediately for a handgun licence
Check out Lakeline in Texas for all the parts you need for FA you think u can't get here in SA. Fantasic guys, very helpful and offer easy export permits at no charge. Ask for Joe
Peppers pray is a fantastic bridging tool. Easy to use and effective. I am trained in Kali, so I'm comfortable with a baton. I don't recommend carrying anything you aren't trained in and comfortable using.
I’m sure the question has been asked before, but for my own sanity. When pulled over at a road block, speed trap or by any other law enforcement agency, should I declare that I am in possession of a concealed firearm or not, regardless of the reason for being pulled over?
Very good question! You don't have to declare you have a weapon on you if you are not asked. If you are asked, you have a legal obligation to declare you have a weapon on you.
I can’t take the wait anymore, I’ve already bought a Cz p10c and it’s just waiting for me in some safe. It’s actually crazy how long the process is to obtain a firearm in this country. Absolutely ridiculous, I’ve been waiting 121 working days and still going, for my competency alone.
@@gunlicence thanks!! I guess it’s expected, just annoyed that I see people pass the consideration step in a day or 2 but I’ve been on consideration for 16 days now. Will hit you guys up to compile my license application😉
Usually I would say that capacity isn't super important and you only needs one spare mag. I would take three spare and want a capacity ~15. However, if you don't have it then it is useless so SigP365 type compact solutions probably win.
Glock or CZ is the game in town. I think the cz is more accurate but my g19 has been going strong for 20 years. Bought a Beretta recently to focus on competitions more. Caliber wise 9mm parabellum is really the only choice unless you are a trust fund baby.
Just a question, since you need to be 21 years old to be able to license a firearm as section 13. Let’s say for example you do buy a Glock 19 and license it under a section 16. Are you allowed to to conceal carry the firearm if you are under 21 years old. Because I am turning 20 soon and do have a Glock 19 Gen 5 MOS that I licensed under section 16 and don’t know if I am allowed to carry the firearm since I am not 21 yet. I have done a lot of research, read through most of the firearm control act and I find a lot of grey areas but no explanation for the question. Thanks for your video, it was very informative.
Enjoyed this video. My EDC is a Hellcat Pro with a holosun 407k. Main mag (17) has critical duty Hornady hollow points. Best wishes from Israel from an old South African
You can reload a revolver in a gun fight many many people have. When I first started as a deputy 80% of the department still used revolvers. Are they the most modern thing. But they do have a power advantage.
Thanks for taking the time to respond😁 When you carried a revolver as a deputy, did most of your adversaries also have revolvers? A trained deputy would also more than likely be better trained than a first time civilian gun owner.
@@gunlicence it was a mix honestly. Surplus handgun were common. Smaller autos 380,32,25,22 were the most common handgun we took off of people. And a surprising amount of cut down 22lr rifles ( barrels and stocks cut down) I would agree we were a bit better than a first time gun owner. But if the civilian actually practiced. I would say a dedicated civilian would be better than the average cop now. Most cops are not gun people and surprising don't shoot as much as you would expect.
@@gunlicence it surprises me with the animals in Africa. The bigger revolvers are not more popular. Thats the reason I carry a revolver most of the time. And thats for our wild hogs more than anything else.
You forgot to talk about capacity. The smaller the round then the more capacity you can carry in a magazine. This is Generally where 9mm beats the other calibres that you mentioned. as well as recoil. In a handgun that uses blowback then the more powder and heavier the projectile then the more recoil. the reduces the ability to get quicker follow up shots as the defender is dealing with the recoil.
Is South Africa shall or may issue for carry? Like can Jo Blo just walk in go through the proper channels and conceal carry? Or do they want proof your life is in danger like some countries do?
We are required by law to carry our firearms concealed in public spaces. Open carrying is not only unlwaful but it puts a huge target on your back, especially here in SA
The reply below pretty much sums it up. We have to undergo training, apply for a competency certificate from our police, then only can we apply for the licence for the specific firearm. Once the licence is issued, we can use the firearm for any lawful purpose, which includes concealed carry. Civilians may not open carry in South Africa.
I think he has potential and I like his stance on some issues. Unfortunately he has been drinking the "anti gun" cool aid. I think it is preposterous for any member of SAPS or government to try and shift the blame of illegal guns onto civilian gun owners when they are by far the biggest suppliers of illegal guns in the country.
But, now, how is the law regarding defending one self here in sunny SA? If you de end up shooting somebody in self defense, you in a heap of trouble. I will really like to get a gun, but is this issue i am struggling with.
@@gunlicence Can not wait, thanks. That might be the stepping stone in getting my first hand gun. Used to shoot a lot when I was younger, so it will be nice to go out to a fire range and squeeze of a phew rounds.

There is a gap in the industry to "test drive" a firearm. A buyer unfortunately needs to rely on too many opinions without firing the thing until you have undergone the entire process.
@spotw88 100%

Gunnery Arms does have a few popular models to test out. Unfortunately it's quite difficult yo have each and every model available to test.
Ask friends and family who do hunting and sharp shooting, they can allow you to shoot their weapons under their supervision.

I'm carrying a P10C, and also left it stock just 2 mags with a plus 2 shoe on and then the normal 15 round mag in the firearm at all times. But ja 9mm is the best round to have at the moment in SA like you said everyone carries it.

Very informative video for someone new, like in the gun field, thanks Mark. Slowly but surely making sense some of the things.

Thanks so much for watching and commenting😁
I carried a S&W M&P 40 for many years.

Thank you for the content. What is your opinion on the Beretta APX Centurion? According to the information I found, reliable and good value for money.
Super good choice😁👍
Fully agree with many of the points made in this video, specially around the practical aspects.
For many years my EDC was an H&K USPC in 40. Great gun, no complaints. Try to find a new holster, spare mag, pistol mounted light or any other accessory... no chance and if you do, you'll pay through your butt for it. So I went for a Glock 43x MOS as a replacement: aftermarket mags, new triggers, optics, holsters, anything I could want is generally available. Would I have selected the same gun if i lived in the US? Maybe not, but given our local market conditions it was the right pick for me.
That makes a lot of sense👍
We sold plenty of H&K firearms before Germany slapped us with an arms embargo, making anything German very difficult to get. There are still grey imports here and there, but very few and far between.
well concealable and easy to reach, that you can recommend?
My end in mind is to conceal then fit and everything I believe training will cover that...
Thanks man liked gour video its very practical, and informative.

I personally love both of those brands. Unfortunately due to an arms embargo placed on SA by Germany, parts are incredibly hard to come by and very expensive.
I would definitely license them as a nice to have, but maybe look at a more economical option for your SD gun.
I personally wanted the Beretta PX4 but decided on G19 because of aftermarket support
Glock definitely has some of the best aftermarket support in SA.

Thanks, man! Very informative.

It may not be my favourite brand, but when in doubt: Glock 19. Best SHTF gun out there.

What is your view on an Astra Falcon mod4000 pistol?

Get a Shield Arms 15 round aftermarket mag. I know some people reported reliability issues but I haven't had any problems at all (been using v2 and v3 of the mag). Blessings.
Thanks for the comment!
Its definitely worth it to push through, even if you have a crappy DFO.

How do you carry the baton? What sort of sheath do you use?
My belt creates enough retention for me to carry "mexican"
If I am on duty, I have it on my vest in a pouch.
I know some other guns have some advantages but I just always loved that gun. don't have experience with ever carrying a firearm so I don't know the practicallity. let me know. thanks

They are definitely not the easiest pistols to carry, but it is possible, provided you have the correct holster and belt.
The nice thin about handguns is, you don't need to limit yourself to just 1😅
If possible, maybe get a more practical daily carry and carry your 1911 for "special" occasions.
Thank you so much for the reply. Really makes my decision making easier.
I was thinking the same thing about getting an everyday carry that is practical and has some better capacity since 8 rounds can go really fast in a high stress situation, even for pros. your advice will be put to good use. thanks again

Would you recommend aftermarket parts like trigger, recoil spring etc for a everyday carry pistol. I have a cz p-09 which I love but the trigger action is spongy.

What else can one carry that's effective besides a gun? Please
Make sure your situational and spacial awareness is on point and avoid trouble as far as possible. Pepper spray and a batton are nice force multipliers... unfortunately when you need a gun, only a gun will do.
Are you allowed to open carry in South Africa?
Civilians may not open carry in South Africa.
Very informative because somebody cant find 9mm shorts
How does someone go about buying another barrel for a sec16.
Depending on the make and model, most barrels will be a special order item, if a supplier doesn't hold stock.
People license handgun barrels for different reasons. Mainly:
- Barrel replacement
- Additional threaded barrel
- Extra barrel
You will need to apply for a new licence for the barrel. We have licensed many barrels for clients, so it can definitely be done. The tricky part is usually the dealer getting it in stock.
@@gunlicence is the process of obtaining the barrel license the same as a firearm, in regards to needing supporting documents, crime stats etc ?
@tiaandebeer7221 The process is very similar. Technical specs of barrel wear, rifling profiles, internal ballistics, supply chain issues, etc.

Just a question, since you need to be 21 years old to be able to license a firearm as section 13. Let’s say for example you do buy a Glock 19 and license it under a section 16. @@gunlicence it was a mix honestly. Surplus handgun were common. Smaller autos 380,32,25,22 were the most common handgun we took off of people.

Recoil and capacity are definitely things to consider.

Any thoughts on Mr Mkhwanazi blaming legal gun owners for the illegal guns that criminals have?
I think he has potential and I like his stance on some issues. Unfortunately he has been drinking the "anti gun" cool aid. I think it is preposterous for any member of SAPS or government to try and shift the blame of illegal guns onto civilian gun owners when they are by far the biggest suppliers of illegal guns in the country.
Would a pom pom count as antique
@@OrnamentalHermitVisage are you referring to the 40mm naval gun?🤣👌
But, now, how is the law regarding defending one self here in sunny SA? If you de end up shooting somebody in self defense, you in a heap of trouble. I will really like to get a gun, but is this issue i am struggling with.

@@gunlicence Can not wait, thanks. That might be the stepping stone in getting my first hand gun. Used to shoot a lot when I was younger, so it will be nice to go out to a fire range and squeeze of a phew rounds.
