Been thinking of starting the process of getting my license etc and this was very insightful info. Immediately subscribed when you said all those claims are nonsense. I know this vid is 2 years old and might not be applicable if something changed along the way, hence the follow so I can stay updated. Keep up the insightful videos please, way too much nonsense being spread by uninformed people.

We are low hanging fruit because we have the most useless ignorant uncaring firearm organisations in the world. They have not once opposed gun control and do nothing but capitulate, demoralise, collaborate and appease. Only an idiot thinks you can win the fight by selling guns, glorifying guns of babbling statistics. Do firearm owners not know enough to examine what they have done and see it has failed abysmally to not try it again? FFS learn something about propaganda. There are no arms rights organisations in SA and I defy you to find one. GOSA that has as its only mandate to fight gun control has not done so for 20 years or more. It's a disgrace to those who formed it as no more than another government boot licker in SA. Nor has any other existing firearm organisation. In fact in 2004 every firearm organisation refused to join in and combine forces to fight gun control. The heroes running them wanted to be heroes and "negotiate" a better deal. You cannot negotiate with ideological organisations or government if you have no power and they have NONE. What power do firearm owners have when they could not be bothered to so much as lift a finger to protect their lives or that of their loved ones. All they have is excuses and will expend more energy in telling those who point this out they are rocking the boat of happiness. You could not get 100 South African to demonstrate how much they care about the safety of their loved ones. GFSA could put a few thousand on the street anywhere any time, that shows they are serious can impact voting and governments popularity, POWER. Nope the brainless firearm leadership claims it can negotiate a better deal. With what are they going to negotiate? What firearm owners have that is what. They only know how to lose,

The validity of gun control. I am always amazed by how quick people are to abandon easily provable facts in favour of complete rubbish. That applies to a large number of subjects. On this earth as a single subject there is possibly nothing that exceeds the mountain of rubbish that passes for so-called gun control research. This is the junk science poster child. From propaganda hacks pretending to be journalists to judges of illegitimate press councils we have people who believe that statistics out-weighs physical science. Nothing can penetrate their indoctrinated belief that statistics are the gold standard that proves physical science wrong. A prefect example is the press council ruling that "peer reviewed statistical research" was not junk science but factual information proving gun control can save lives. That despite the fact this is functionally impossible because no causal relationship exists such a trifling argument could not possibly outshine a statistical review of a claimed correlation. Other researchers could not possibly be wrong, how could they be? An infinite gap in physics is easily filled by statistical research confirmed by others drinking from the same fountain of funding and reward for junk science proving the funders objective. It is a little known fact statistics cannot prove anything and are at best the opinion of the researchers. The results of statistical research are settled by consensus. At what point in time will somebody explain how firearms can possibly be the only object on this earth that is claimed by charlatans and the errand boys of gun control to be the root cause of violence? How do guns manage this claimed feat? Is it by some unknown mystery power or unmeasured and untested force? Has the world of physical science confirmed the claims of gun control that it would be a kindness to just call lies until they do? Why do those who claim to want to protect the lives, loved ones, property and freedom of people universally want to argue what has no measurable meaning, statistics? Such people have only one intention to deceive and disarm citizens, there is no possible other use for gun control. Are provable facts not good enough for them? As an example of the level of fraud in gun control research watch this examination of gun control statistical research. reason.com/video/2022/03/31/do-studies-show-gun-control-works-no/

Sorry boet, the section 84 requireme is covered, not concealed. The only place the word conceal appears applies to police officers dressed in civilian clothing. There is a big difference.

    • @manusengelbrecht9959

Your wording is correct Section 84 States: (1) No person may carry a firearm in a public place unless the firearm is carried- (a) in the case of a handgun- (i) in a holster or similar holder designed, manufactured or adapted for the carrying of a handgun and attached to his or her person; or (ii) in a rucksack or similar holder; or (b) in the case of any other firearm, in a holder designed, manufactured or adapted for the carrying of the firearm. (2) A firearm contemplated in subsection (1) must be completely covered and the person carrying the firearm must be able to exercise effective control over such firearm. Covered Definition: cover past tense: covered; past participle: covered 1. put something on top of or in front of (something), especially in order to protect or conceal it. Conseal Definition: conseal not allow to be seen; hide. As you can see although he uses different wording, they both mean the same thing: A person should not be able to see the firearm.

In any legislation it is important to understand the exact meaning of words used as well as the intent from the legislator. In SA we need to completely cover a firearm when carrying in public as civilians. This may result in the firearm "printing" in the case of a handgun. With regards to a rifle, it would most likely carried in a gun bag. It would in both cases imply that anyone could conclude that such a person is carrying a firearm, but legally it is covered and meets that part of the requirement. Therefore the legislator did not intend that any casual observer should be oblivious of that fact due to concealment. In the US a lot of problems arise due to their conceal carry requirements, which implies that even printing is a problem. It is a known fact that no matter how well one conceales, even mannerisms may show the presence of a firearm. The SA legislator most likely took this into account and avoided this minefield by simply making a covered requirement. The intention is clearly not to conceal, but rather to be less conspicuous. So therefore, covered cannot be equated to concealed. With regard to the security services, the firearm carry aspect is a huge problem that could be easily resolved by the minister in changing the current regulations. I pointed out this shortcoming in a Security Officers Liaison Forum meeting not long after the act was promulgated. As with the training, CFR perfers to do things their way by way of letters and instructions, rather than following prescribed legal procedures that include public participation. For now they regard an armed security officer in the same light as any armed officer from an official institution, although there is nothing in the act or regulations to support this. Police members in civilian clothing are the only ones that has a concealed requirement. However, not if only looks at some of the police Rambos. Unfortunately in this case the, the police does not enforce their own legislation. It took them years to meet the marking of their duty pistol requirements as well the firearm registers. Recently they had a major beef with the serial numbers on a one part barrel and chamber. People has been harassed because of printing, carrying on your person a section 15 or 16 firearm, possession of hollow nose ammunition, having a fully charged magazines, not having fully charged magazines, the list goes on and on. The issue that we face is law enforcement overreach. So please don't let on that cover may imply concealment. Let us stick to the letter of the law and its intended meaning. -------- Original message -------- From: TH-cam <noreply@youtube.com> Date: Thu, 30 Jan 2025, 07:30 To: Sarel Smit <Sarel.aimtraining@gmail.com> Subject: New reply to a comment on "Can you carry a section 15 or 16 firearm on you in South Africa?"
