I used a windshield washer reservoir form the auto wrecker....added a 5' piece of rubber fuel line and a small valve at the end ,oh and a few clamps...$8. thanks for the vid!
Thanks for the inspiration. There's been a few times i wish i had an auxiliary tank while fiddling with bikes. I think i'll start rummaging through the cupboards for one of those multitude of drink bottles that are just taking up space. Cheers Dino!
LOL two days after I made mine I found a stainless water bottle in our attic, could have saved 4 bucks. however it did not have the blue motif. Thank you for the comment Dino
Dino, this was an excellent video how-to. I really enjoyed the whole aspect of it. Very good camera work, audio was perfect, just very entertaining. I actually shared the link before I even finished watching it. I will see about making this myself for my '77 Shovelhead!!😎
I am so glad you enjoyed it and that you shared it! Thank you so much. I am not an expert but I try to make the content as good as I can and it makes it worthwhile to know others find it usefull, thank you again. Dino
Another useful project Dino. I can use one of those so I better get to work. I like the basement work area. You may have my problem - two areas often requires some tool duplication. Not really a problem ;)
Lol oh I do, I actually built the shed to move my mecanics tools out there, but as you said, you need the same tools sometimes in the basement. So I do have a lot of duplicates. But as you pointed out..... not really a problem. Thanks Di o
Hmm. I have been searching for an auxiliary tank in my local area, but my search has turned up empty. Nothing but blank stares and confused looks from the big box store workers. I like this idea. Looks like a fun little project too.
Ya I don't think these are too common. I know you can buy these on Amazon but it's fun to build stuff like this, it's not always about saving money but having some fun making stuff. Thanks for the comment. Dino
I was able to source a metal water bottle at a place called Ollie's Bargain Outlet. The rest I found at Lowes and in my stash. I've used it once so far. Works great!
Dino , The ball valve is too big and expensive. There are other bottles available for a couple of bucks more that have windows or are clear and free so you can determine the level of fuel. If you were to turn the bottle upside down and put the fuel outlet in the cap then it would act like a funnel. The bottom could have been taken off neatly in a few seconds by your pal Bill on his lathe. No charge. Otherwise........Good boy.
Hey Bill, thanks for your thoughts. I think all of the ball valves are too expensive so I agree with you on that but the size actually worked really well when your hands are greasy or cold. Interesting Idea to turn it upside down, filling and venting may be a bit harder though but not insurmountable, Ill keep the lathe in mind for future episodes! Thanks again Bill Dino
I bought one of those on Amazon. It’s crap. The petcock leaks badly and is a unique size so there are no parts to fix it. I ended up making my own with a bulkhead fitting from Amazon and a hose barb from HD. I used a leftover lawnmower fuel valve for the petcock.
You are like the Bob Ross of tinkering.
LOL I wish I had his hair.

Now there is a fantastic idea and a great reuse of old parts. Thank you for sharing!

Dinos popular mechanics!
Thanks for the compliment, loved PM when I was young.
Dino
Thanks
I'd personally just get a six to ten foot length of fuel line and run from the tank on a bench to the carb. But that isn't really "tinkering".
Lol no that's not nearly complex enough for me. Great solution though.
Thanks for the comment

i wil do this tomorrow i am building a motor for my raft

Ya know... Amazon sells aux tanks for less than $16. Just saying.
Lol ,Maybe, but it's way more fun making one than clicking a button.
@@DinosTinkerShed I can get behind that!

@@dancarey3303 I bought mine from Amazon as well. Works a treat for over a year now. Sorry you got a bad one.
