    Half the fun of the DR is creating individual improvements like this, well done Dino, I really enjoy your ingenuity!

    As as someone who has had a DR for about 2 months..... hold the phone. That black thing is a "tool box"? Here I was pocketing my insurance and registration lol. I am not the sharpest tool in the shed and thought it was part of snorkel system. Yay me!
    Thanks for the enlightenment, insurance and registration going in a zip lock in here.
    Nice creative vision re purposing a welding rod container. Thanks 4 sharing.
    1 person learned something.

    Welcome to the world of handmade tool tube owners! I like the retrieval device. I used a top from a paint spray can and glued a tie-wrap to it. It worked until it didn't. 😁 Mine is a piece of 3" ABS tube with a bracket made from an aluminum door threshold. The most expensive part was the Oatey expandable plug for the end. I used a heat gun to relieve the side panel somewhat and allow it to form around the tube. Thanks for the vid Dino, now go hide in the basement where it's cooler!!

      Great tips and advice about the heat gun.

    Dino I think the tube will be durable. I the welding tube is very neat. I have a PVC tube fastened in a similar way and it has worked fine on some very rough roads over Nana kilometres. I had to put a tool retrieval piece in like you. One thing I did was add a loop of metal cable secured to the lid. When the lid is tightened the free end of the loop secures to the helmet lock (key operated) that is standard on the DR. Stops someone unscrewing the cap ( or vibrating open when riding) and losing tools.

      Thanks Mal, great suggestion I'll have to do that. I have a few great comments on this project, may have to do a follow up. 😉

    Hey Dino, you wanted to fix how far out the tube is by changing the angle iron. If you wanted to save money you could take the bracket off, apply heat and bend the two tabs towards the angle iron and this should pull the whole thing inwards, without all the extra work needed. I love your content, I just thought id recommend trying this before spending more money and time on it than you have to.

    • @DinosTinkerShed
      @DinosTinkerShed  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the tip, that would work for sure. I am finding that it is not a big of a problem as I first thought and may just leave it as is. Thanks for the tip though.

    The Canadian Tire flux core 125i is the same unit as the Harbor Freight Titanium 125 but only buy it on sale for like 269.00 Cdn...much better welder for the sale price.

    • @DinosTinkerShed
      @DinosTinkerShed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the tip. I agree don't buy anything from Cantire that's not on sale. Eventually I'll upgrade the old 79 dollar flux core but for now it does ok for what I need.
      Thanks again

    Nive video,
    I was wondering. On the tube bracket, couldn't you have just bent the tabs a little bit to get the tube in closer?

    Is mounting on the inner side of the frame possible? This would move it further in as well.

    I'm still trying to figure out size and what other people are doing

    У меня был сделан подобный контейнер.Не выдержало крепление стандартного инструментального бокса, дало трещину.Я думаю, стоит добавить ещё одну точку опоры, ближе к хвосту.

      Interesting, thank you for the information. I try not to load mine up with too much weight but perhaps an additional attachment would be good.
      Thank you again.

    How do you like that ammo box for your cargo storage? I was going to grab one from PA to throw some groceries in and plop it on my dr350

    • @DinosTinkerShed
      @DinosTinkerShed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It works fine for me and has lasted 2 years now without an issue. I did put in a 1/4" plywood base in it to help with strength but other than that it works great right out of the store. Thank you for the question.

    How much does that mod weigh?

    • @DinosTinkerShed
      @DinosTinkerShed  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure, I never actually weighed it, the tools inside weigh more than the storage unit.
      Thanks for the question.
