    To fine tune this even better I found if you clamp the fuel line with a vise grips and by slowly loosening the grip you can get the precise fuel to air ratio, also saving fuel too while still giving more bhp because of the weight gained with the visegrips

    out of 1527 views so far, I'll be willing to bet everything on that over 1000 of them have been factory motorcycle manufacturers, they're probably watching it over an over, to dial that in for not production models yet, their factory racing teams. So the mechanics can be on call instead of at the tracks, the riders can make those tuning adjustments as long as they too put the reference marks on the modifications. Good work Ichiban Moto!

    A motorcycle buddy of mine had his Yamaha modified and he said to head to a specialist to have the head ported. They are located in Florida. When he got the head back, they had suggestions. One of the suggestions was, to use the standard airbox and standard air filter. Because, the science that goes into designing airflow through a motorcycle airbox, is the same as science that goes into designing airplane wings…The factories have worked it out so that their motorcycles with their airbox will out perform a competition.. Air boxes are designed to have a velocity stack effect. Back in the pre-1980s, there was a free launch to be had by changing the exhaust / intake.. those easy performance gains are not easy today. The factory knows more than you do, and more than a lot of aftermarket accessory makers know..
    I remember one month motorcyclist magazine tested 13 different aftermarket exhaust systems, for each of the top four 600 Japanese sport bikes. that is a hell of a lot of exhaust systems. Each company had to submit 4 exhaust systems, one each for the Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha sport bike.
    The results were surprising
    only two of the exhaust systems made more power than the standard exhaust, and that was only in the 200 to 400 RPM past redline range.
    The average horsepower loss with each exhaust system was 6 hp. One of the exhaust systems caused one of the bikes to lose 13 hp.. all of the aftermarket exhaust systems were lighter than the factory exhaust systems, and they were less expensive than a factory replacement. but the quality was not as good as the factory exhaust system, and some of them were actually poorly made, didn’t fit correctly, had less ground clearance, some of them made the motorcycles have hesitation just off idle.. some of the bikes good night maintain a steady cruising speed, and they developed surging and steady speeds on the interstates…
    each of the aftermarket exhaust systems was much louder than the standard exhaust system, giving the illusion of more power.. two of the machines were actually slow down in high speed tests with certain exhaust systems on them, when shifted from 50 into sixth gear. The motorcycles would actually go faster in fifth gear than in sixth gear because of the exhaust system change…
    The bottom line is, the factory knows more than you do. Leave your machine alone especially if it’s brand new, because you don’t want to void the warranty. Even if it’s out of warranty and you have problems, when you take it into the shop to have it corrected, they can’t find a baseline for all of the readings they should get, because the exhaust system has been changed, or the airbox, or the air filter, or the computer has been flashed. And if you have drivability issues, starting issues, surging, hesitation, how is a dealer mechanic supposed to correct things, when everything’s been changed. Where does he start?
    if you are a road racing, don’t start out with a bike that has been modified to death, don’t buy a used road racing machine that is a Frankenstein, the jumps out of gear, burns oil, and has been tossed down the track. You’ll never learn how to ride if you have to keep wrenching on some clapped out dinosaur. it’s going to take you a year at least to learn how to ride on a race track. If you survive the first couple years, and you find that you are always at 100% on the gas, and the bike just is too slow, don’t modify your bike, buy a faster bike.. races are one by the person who is best on the brakes, who set up the corner for the highest exit speed, the guy who makes the least mistakes, the guy here that has the correct suspension settings. Those are the modifications you concentrate on, leave the engine alone. The factory knows more than you do

    This is the bestest tunerage mod ever, well besides the custome tuner mod where you drill air holes right in your intake manifold between your engine and carb. I like to run the pod mod on full "close" and run as many air tuner holes in my intake manifold as possible. Must be 3.5mm holes in order for it to work. OH, these work really good in your exhuast so you can fully tune it too. Key "tuner" secret tricks of the trade.

  • @jamest.5001

    That's the first thing I thought, when I looked at the pod filter, the tiny hole ain't good for the carb, I modified a filter to be like a velocity stack with a filter on it. I haven't used it yet, because it doesn't fit the 20mm carb I am running now. But fits the 24mm im going to run after the engine mods. I'm swapping to a ported large valve head, with cam, and a 52.4mm jug, with pop-up piston, with the exhaust and carburator I'm hoping to get somewhere in the 9-12 HP ball park, I'm debating on whether to do this or just swap to a larger engine! Then modify it! Maybe do a stroker crank, so for about the same price I'd have the choice of 95cc or 149/171cc I could go bigger with the bore, 180-190cc, but 95/96cc is about the sain be limit for the smaller engine, but I been having carb issues, it seems to be running out of fuel at full throttle, I don't think it's a supply issue, I'm running a foam pod filter now, but switching to a pod on a pipe, hoping to get better performance, it also stumbles off idle, sometimes even killing it, but I think 81cc should perform better, it started at 49.5çc, then went to 81.3cc, I ported the head and added a performance cam, and went up to a 20mm carburator, from 18-18.5mm, with free flowing exhaust.. it may just be the CVT, instead of a transmission, eating the power.. but it dies have the carb issues, and looses when hot, or up to operating temperature, I do have a oil cooler that may help, but I haven't decided what to do yet, I can add a turbo with the larger engine, but nos kit is about my only option now, that will likely only convert my crappy ride into a pile of crap! Either way I still need to get the issues ironed out! Because it's going on another bike, I went up about 6 sizes on the jet, that's about it, I did lift the needle one slot, it still needs a bit of tuning, ( being the bogging issues) but the 24mm carb will need everything to tune it, being it's setup for a 125-150cc but are also used on 80-175cc, being I operate in the 6000-9000+rpm range, it should be fine, especially on the 88-95cc engine, being 95cc with the stroker crank! I just need more power, and speed!

    Wonder if you could actually use something like this to instantly adjust your air fuel mix while riding up and down steep mountains.

    Is it possible to fit little bit smaller carb like 250cc honda rebel to 450cc suzuki gs450? Should i tune the jets or the air filter?

    After a lot of searching I managed to find one of those drills but I can't seem to find where the batteries go. Do the American ones have different batteries from the UK ones?

    Couldnt you fine tune a pod filter by gaffer taping sections of it up to reduce airflow to get the air to fuel ratio. EG if you need less air tape top cm of the pod, if you still need more tape up the top 2 cm of the pod

    • @jonnijames
      @jonnijames 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that will work , but if your bike has the carby visible from the road, it looks queer as all get-out bro :) and you will need to tape up like 8/10ths of the pod at least - depending on how good it breathes , and chinese pods offer no protection at all LOL.

    I'm trying to install ram air on a CB500T, will you please make a video showing how to? I would like the intakes to curl out of the sides like horns if possible. Thanks

    • @IchibanMoto
      @IchibanMoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will make that video for you the next time a CB500T comes into the shop. ps. I don't like ram air because the faster you go, the leaner the A/F ratio.

      well you have to run the bowl vents into the snout(s) to compensate...Kaw has been doing that for a long time

    • @jonnijames
      @jonnijames 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yamahale I actually had horn looking setup on a gpx 250 - 2cyl 4stroke, with pod filters comin out the side of the bike, with the bloody CV carbs it ran too rich, and died up the ass , will need a non CV carb and should work great i reckon

    my dad and I did something similar on a DOHC cb750 but we didn't cut any rubber or put any lolipops in it just used a piece of pipe that fit the outside of the carb body on it and set the filter pods out a couple inches and rejetted the carbs and they worked great, the only problem we had was it would cut out at cruising speed but it liked when you gave it some throttle other than that
