  • How to replace Honda Accord FRONT wheel bearings. No hydraulic press or machine shop needed!! It's actually an easy job with the right tools. Front bearings are the harder press in kind.
    This was actually filmed on a Gen 8, 2011 Accord Coupe. Fast forward through the real time slower parts.

    Damn bro. Good video. Can't believe all the hate you're getting for just showing how you do it. Big props by just using a freaking open end wrench to get that bearing in.

    Thank you so much for saying that the race is leftover from the old bearing. I thought it was a separate part. Only you made that clear!

    God bless you! That picture wire trick was EXACTLY what I needed! Neither of the two snap pliers I have were strong enough. I uses a vise-grip instead of a c-clamp. That you!

    The only power tools used were a $9.99 angle grinder and a friends Kobalt medium strength impact gun with air compressor and I only used that to remove the wheel spindle nut quicker. I suppose you could use a hacksaw and a very long cheater bar on the end of the 36mm socket.

    Wow! This is an excellent tutorial and answered all my questions. The only part I didn't like was the handing of the clip ring. You can get clip ring pliers for pretty cheap and not risk getting smacked in the wrong place by a flying ring. Great job overall!

    • @greenmagicman8114
      @greenmagicman8114  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True, fair enough. I just didn't have them on hand and my tool set is pretty broad and pretty complete, but don't have those. So was a little work around to complete the job. Putting a towel over it will easily catch a flying ring. Sort of it you like to put a towel over a bottle of champagne if one is the worrying type so to speak. But in this case it should be done, that ring could sail and injure someone.

    Nice vid. Only time I cringed was seeing you press that bearing in using the open end of that wrench . Great job though thanks for info doing this . Now I see what I'll be up against when I tackle this job myself.

    Take the caliper and roter off first, its easier to loosen bolts , and less weight on the spindle, and brake line.

    So, 8 Gen Honda Accord front wheel bearing replacement on a Mazda Car?

  • @jessez5536
    @jessez5536 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a 2000 Honda accord that I'm about to do the front wheel bearing but when I got the new bearings they dont have a magnetic on either side but my car has the abs sensor so now I'm lost and dont know if I should I install them or what side should I put them in or would it matter?

    • @staypositive4358
      @staypositive4358 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would have probably called the part maker and ask them why there is no magnet. Otherwise, how did it go?

    • @duanespeck2316
      @duanespeck2316 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wait, the bearings should have a magnet on them? I just got my bearings in the mail today and didn't notice any kind of magnet. What am i missing??

    • @greenmagicman8114
      @greenmagicman8114  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bearings should have a slightly magnetic side to them. That's the tip that that is the correct side to face the ABS wheel sensor that you can see in the hub. It's very slight - a light weight paper clip barely is attracted to it and actually usually slips right off. Looking closely though, one side is a little more attracted to that paper clip and little more 'clingy'. That's my experience, and all 3 bearings I bought and installed are the Timken brand.

    I am wondering why you didn't use the impact drill on the handy work with the manual press? Seems like an idea to me although not a mechanic.

      its about control.

  • @pizzamon795
    @pizzamon795 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just unplug the cable for the ABS wheel sensor inside the engine bay. Mine are completely seized in there

    • @greenmagicman8114
      @greenmagicman8114  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So then the cable line fishes right out of the car body and follows the spindle / hub when you remove it all? Didn't know that could be done, that's handy. Thanks for the tip. Those ABS sensors always seem seized in there and too delicate to not break if your apply the force needed to remove them. Better off just leaving them jammed in the spindle unless you want to risk replacing the sensor as well.

    Your center cap on that rim has a Mazda symbol...

    • @greenmagicman8114
      @greenmagicman8114  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it does. Those rims are Infiniti G35 coupe 18” wheels. However I got the set used from a person who had them not very successfull mounted on a Mazda3 Speed turbo. He sold me the set. Inifinit wheels will bolt on to Hondas. The prior owner got Mazda emblem stickers and placed them on these infinti stock wheels. I have since removed those stickers.
      And the irony is I have Mazda rims with snow tires for winter.

    • @greenmagicman8114

      That's a handy tool to have. I 'loaned' that tool from Oreilly's at the same time I loaned the wheel bearing press kit. As long as you get them back you get your money back and it makes it a free loaner. Hoping to not have to do lots of suspension work in the future, but would be a worthy purchase.

      Uh, well, the wheels are Infiniti G35 'track edition' wheels. They can fit on Hondas. I just pointed that out - because the center opening on the Infiniti wheel is too narrow to use for the trick of loosening the wheel spindle. I got the idea to use the Honda supplied spare tire for that step. That has the correct wider opening.
