Hey Mathew. I was one of the people who suggested this laptop to be reviewed on discord, and to say I am grateful for the review. However, a bit late since I bought around the start of November and got the 4060 model as it was 1699 and didn't seem worth it to pay extra 200 for the 4070. All in all, Im having fun with this considering my previous laptop had an 8th gen intel with gtx 1050 so this was pretty good upgrade for me.
The A14 is excused for having soldered memory due to the fact that it has genuinely no space for it. On the A16, it's egregious how there's a GAPING HOLE where RAM slots are supposed to be, yet there's nothing there.
as far as I know, every Ryzen AI got soldered RAM this year. So i think this is not really Asus fault, but more like AMD demands for now. its sad but it is what it is right now.
@@vidorintr it's not specifically a AMD problem either, its because of this AI push. AI models are very RAM speed dependent (why professional models runs on a GPU with as much VRAM as possible) so I guess all the new AI chips from intel/amd mandates use of soldiered DDR5 RAM at 7500+mhz

My ideal setup is a single USB port on the right for wireless mice that still uses a dongle, USB ports and SD card slot on the left, and lastly, the power, ethernet, HDMI, and Display ports at the back.
Weird thing about the ram, the webpage for this laptop on the official ASUS website says the ram is upgradable. Even the support rep I talked to said it was too. Almost chose this one for that reason but I'm glad you brought light to this.
