    Hey Mathew. I was one of the people who suggested this laptop to be reviewed on discord, and to say I am grateful for the review. However, a bit late since I bought around the start of November and got the 4060 model as it was 1699 and didn't seem worth it to pay extra 200 for the 4070. All in all, Im having fun with this considering my previous laptop had an 8th gen intel with gtx 1050 so this was pretty good upgrade for me.

    The A14 is excused for having soldered memory due to the fact that it has genuinely no space for it. On the A16, it's egregious how there's a GAPING HOLE where RAM slots are supposed to be, yet there's nothing there.

    • @patrickstewardray4610

      It's because of the new Ryzen AI CPU. There's no other reason for them to drop it since last gen TUF A15/A16 both have dual memory slots

    • @vidorintr

      as far as I know, every Ryzen AI got soldered RAM this year. So i think this is not really Asus fault, but more like AMD demands for now. its sad but it is what it is right now.

    • @chaugh

      @@vidorintr it's not specifically a AMD problem either, its because of this AI push. AI models are very RAM speed dependent (why professional models runs on a GPU with as much VRAM as possible) so I guess all the new AI chips from intel/amd mandates use of soldiered DDR5 RAM at 7500+mhz

    • @cameronbosch1213

      @chaugh And that's not even true because there's LPCAMM2 which CAN use slotted LPDDR5X RAM, albeit at a price.

    • @cameronbosch1213

      @@vidorintr That's not true. Zen 5 can take both LP and non-LP DDR5 RAM according to AMD's own spec page. It's just that no OEM allows that, and we might be waiting until CES before we see this.

    Why would they solder the ram. That's just dumb! This isn't even a thin and light 1kg laptop! If I wanted Apple I can get a macbook at this price

      @chaos_freak it especially pisses me off because it's not like these laptops are Intel's Lunar Lake, they DO support SO-DIMM RAM according to AMD's own spec page.
      Looks like I'm sticking with my current laptops at least until CES...

    You are hilarious I have this laptop it is a peice of shit the plastic gets extremely brittle after gaming only 6 months in a the bottom shell keeps flaking off and the hinge is already broken not to mention the screws fallout from vibration and opening and closing the laptop will eventually cause the screws to snap or strip and then it’s just a paperweight f asus I plan to file a lawsuit tomorrow

    Yuck.
    Bring back the other design Asus.
    This one won’t last long either.
    They need to strengthen the hinge.
