Whats your favourite laptop of 2024?
Please don't always advocate for OLED displays. Many folks like me have migraine and PWM issues that make laptop choices limited every year. Thank you!
I picked myself up the new raider A18. They threw a 7945hx3d cpu in there and I needed it. Was 2699 over black Friday before promo codes.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro M4 I'm using right now. It's just so well-rounded. Great all-around performance for the money, lasts ages on battery, excellent display, silent outside of extreme conditions. Not a gaming machine (unless I really want to play Death Stranding or, soon, Cyberpunk), but in my case that's not necessary.
Lenovo Legion 7i 14900HX/4070
If you can get it on sale.
The razer blade 16 oled
Placed an order and should get it next week, can’t wait!😍
an oled screen is a huge gamechanger. I still remember how I was blown away by the g16 screen
I totally agree once you go oled or even mini-led its hard to go back
The OLED screen was a game changer; it gave me severe nausea and headaches from the terrible PWM.
The oled on my new surface pro has pink and green blobs that move around as you look at the screen. My old surface pro 4 screen is nicer to look at up close. I do love the contrast and got it half price so I'll just get used it, but it does seem like there are some less good implementations around.
For many, an excellent IPS panel is better, especially the 20-30% that suffer from PWM. Also, the battery life on IPS is significantly better. MiniLED is the best option.
@@andyH_England I heard MiniLed also has PWM 😕 certainly the MacBook Pro didn't feel comfortable to look at when checking it out at the store.
Happily watching this on my 2024 G14. 👍
7:34 you did mkbhd dirty 💀☠️
LOL
HAH
Only noticed after your comment... Daaaaayummmm💀💀💀
Just bought a 2024 Razer Blade 16 4080 OLED for $1995 on EBay last night. My first Razer computer. Also have a M1 Pro 16 1TB 32GB.
Sell me the macbook lol
a razer from ebay....good lord, there's a gamble.
Do you all believe he has as he said? Don’t think so 😅😅
@@Koko_Phyozin everybody in the comment section isn't broke and/or a liar sir.
@@Cerbyo Good thing they have Buyer Protection. Also I know what to look for. Got this mainly for Audio Engineering and Video Editing away from home. But I'll run a few games just to see if it overheats easily or have issues with the keyboard, wifi, or Bluetooth connections. If it does or have any blue screens it's going back ASAP.
The best laptop is the one you're able to buy today. Whether it's good or flawed.
That is true. Good point!
wow how inspirational
Bought the Asus Vivobook 15 with the snapdragon x plus for £599 in the UK. Very happy with my purchase as I don't really game and don't use specialist software outside of work. Feel like I've got a premium device for a mid-range price.
I got a surface pro elite for 750 new on ebay, I get the impression these snapdragon laptops are cratering on price. Still a lot of money to spend though.. At least with the oled snapdragon combo you get a pretty cozy life companion
Yes, no one wants the Snapdragon due to its incompatibility with many apps, so if your workflow has no issues, these are heavily discounted. I bought an XPS 13, config 32GB/1TB/non-OLED, for £900 with three years of on-site support. That was around half the release price, though obviously a lot less now. Sales numbers are extremely poor, and Qualcomm's expectation to have 50% of the market looks quite unrealistic now that Intel and AMD offer similar efficiency but better in other ways. Still, I use it as a "Chromebook" alternative, so it works for me.
@@andyH_England I did no research at all really on the snapdragon situation and just bought the latest surface pro as my 10 year old one was held together with tape, only charged after hotwiring the charge connector and holding it on with a peg.. Finally the screen started frying itself.
Fortunately everything is working well including 3ds max and drawing apps. Instant on is great. The oled screen is a bit pink and blue which is not good.. But nice contrast. Definitely not worth £1500 as advertised .
So yeah still not sure what doesn't work on this chip, all smooth so far.
Surely this new arm situation is too big to fail... I guess time will tell
@@subspaceanomaly that’s great. If it works for you then it’s a winner. I just like to mention that you can get great deals and for those like you can get great hardware at an excellent price. Launch prices were ridiculous and that probably put many people off.
We need more AMD Zen 5 laptops. CES hopefully?
Thanks for always considering the price when making this list. So many other reviewers just make a list of laptops that are like $3k+ which is not for the avg joe. Your list is always the one I look forward to. Thanks for your hard work and research Matt! 🙂
I got the Huawei Matebook 14 (2024) for around 799 Euros. I was very sceptical of the brand and I was even thinking of switching over to Mac Air but i was always so used to Windows. When I compared the two Huawei came th closes with build quality and had everything I was looking for in. A great high quality screen with 120 hz rate. I really like the keyboard aswell, it was just hard to beat. I took a look at the ASUS but I didnt like the build quality that much. Im suprised no one is really talking about this laptop
7:36 we got mkbhd getting cooked by Matthew Moniz before GTA 6
Lots of good laptops for all types of needs this year.
- M3 Air for non-professionals and general use.
- Asus ZenBook S 14 (Lunar Lake) laptop for college business/economic students. Honorable mention: Surface laptop 7 with the Snapdragon X Elite.
- M4 MacBook Pro for video editors, photo editors, JavaScript front-end website developers, and back-end Java programmers. Honorable mention Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i.
- ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 for gamers.
G16 is overpriced in the U.S. for 32 GB of RAM. Also, if you need more than that, good f-ing luck!
@@cameronbosch12132k isn't overpriced
I always find laptop reviewers do Dell dirty but mines still going strong almost 5 years later and it's still playing RE4 like a Boss!
To be completely transparent with you. I did not do them dirty. I just did not review one dell laptop this year so I can't recommend something I haven't reviewed. Their review program is missing in action for the past few years, so getting laptops from them has been quite difficult. Like last year I bought a couple Dell laptops to review but I only buy them if im super interested. Hope that clears it up!
@@MatthewMoniz Not saying yourself in particular just nearly all lol
Bit of a missed opportunity from them then!
my first laptop was a dell studio 15. CRAZY GOOD laptop, but only lasted for 3-4 years. Things would just break on it until it completely died. They dont have enough reviews on their products for me to reconsider them again, and they opt for the more modern 'less is more' stuff now....I need ports bro.
The xps line this year is abs terrible. Very baffled to see such heavy machines, and extremely EXPENSIVE ones for their specs.
@@ArrowAirlinesYeah, the XPS lineup is like Apple's MacBooks from 2016 - 2019. Awful, overpriced, and broken.
i'm not even a big laptop person or computer gear person and i'll settle for anything, but I tried a thinkpad the other day and OMG its by far the best typing experience i've ever had. I'd honestly go for a thinkpad typing experience than a good mechanical keyboard.
The nipple takes some getting used to but its incredibly ergonomic and makes sense. It may not be for everyone though
Thanks!
You’re very welcome! Thank you as well
I'm Japanese. I purchased ProArt P16 after watching your review video. thank you.
I just bought a MacBook pro m4 for 1400 bucks and I'm so happy, as a programmer it ticks all my boxes, amazing screen, amazing performance and stellar battery life, can't recommend it enough if you're a programmer
Where did you find that deal?
1400$ ? how is that even possible ! in my area I am planing to buy an m2 pro 16 inch with the best configuration and it cost me 1700$
@parwaryassin3834 got it off a black Friday deal at bestbuy, to clarify it is a m4 MacBook pro the base model 10c, 10gpu, with 512gb SSD and 16gb Ram
I think the m2 pro 16 inch would have higher performance than mine
Bought Framework laptop this year and quite happy with it ,although initial setup is a bit expensive
( Get lowest processor model as they get old in 2-5 years and you can upgrade it )
Thanks for the overview Matt, the laptop that caught my eye was the ASUS VivoBook S15. My wife's S15 is the 5-year-old model (S532) and although it's been a solid device I wonder how much longer it's going to last, and I've been considering replacing it.
For $499 you cant go wrong!
@@MatthewMonizI'll have to check but I doubt we get such a good price in the UK
I bought the acer predator helios 16 2024 with the RTX 4060, 16 RAM, 1TB SSD and I9 procesor for $999 usd.
Was it a good deal?
Thank you for this comprehensive review.
As a professional who uses their laptop for work and play, Lenovo Legion 7 is my choice because of excellent build quality, plus YOU CAN GET AN ONSITE EXTENDED WARRANTY! Up to 4 years with onsite support at a very reasonable price! What's the point of a warranty that leaves you without your daily work tool?
Also I prefer the Legion over the G16 because of better expansion options, and the super aggressive Lenovo sales over the holiday season!
I knew the MBP were going to be at the top of the list and I agree. Fantastic laptops. My favs this year were the Blade 18 and the ProArt 16.
They are absolutely solid. Blade 18 is great ProArt 16 is also great just wish it had a high refresh display.
@MatthewMoniz if the P16 had a high refresh rate display and an RTX 4080, I would have pulled the trigger. Now I'm waiting for CES.
Honestly I like your picks and perspectives more than the other videos I've watched.👌
I would choose for myself the Snapdragon powered Vivobook. It should be just fine for my use case - watching videos, working with Office documents and web, or calls via Google meet.
❤ I hope you activate the voice translation feature instead of text translation. You have fans from the Middle East, so that it is easier for them to watch your wonderful videos.
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely look into it.
The art is obstructing the view of the laptop categories🫤
Loved the video very informative thank you! My only suggestion is to time stamp the different categories for the next one pls
I just ordered an M3 Air over cyberweekend, I'm looking forward for it to arrive
10:09 nahh bro did not said that nip hahahaha
Lenovo 15.6" LOQ 15IRX9 $750 on B&H- 100% sRGB 144hz display with 13th gen Intel and 4060
Thats a great deal! Probably a better option than the MSI. I wish I saw that
Lmao that diddy prompt caught me all the wayyy off guard 🤣
G14 '24 took the market by storm! What an amazing laptop; just wish Grey/Black version would be available through Best Buy in the US.
The other MASSIVE winner for me this year is PX 13 '24. If it only had 120 hz screen and 4070 version in the States!
The problem with razer blade 14 is not only the price, like all laptop reviewers say, it's more like accessibility. Razer produce thousand times or more less notebooks than asus. As a rezult I bought g14, cause I coudnt find a proper place to buy razer 14 anywhere, +1k euro wasn't a problem in a slight for me. P.S. and all shops that had razer blade14 in their website history, had those laptops instantly sold out.
G14 is overpriced this year. $2000 for 32 GB of RAM is way too damn high.
And the design with that slash lighting looks really tacky.
The problem with razer is...razer. They cant even make an xbox controller without something falling off, or the rubber wearing out in a month, or something. Never owned their laptops to be fair, but every other premium product I had of theirs left a lot to be desired.
@@CrunchyTire I have a razer blade 14 that I bought a few years ago with a 3070 for 3000 AUD. Its the best built laptop I have ever owned and have never had any issues with it.
@@cameronbosch1213 Yes, I agree, but it's portable and compact AF, can't find anything more fitting and portable with those specs, except for razer 14 ofc, literally can fit into anything, which is a most important thing for me recently, also those speakers are the best among all laptops this year.
@beefycroissant6485 I have no doubt.
I bought the 2024 G14 4070 in October on a Best Buy sale for $1,650. I’d say for that price and the size, energy consumption and power it delivers is quite good. I’ve been running BO6 at 1440p on an external MSI monitor at 120Hz and the thermals are typically around 75deg C. Considering getting an Ilano Cooling pad to protect the fans from dust and dog hair being sucked in. I’m still waiting on seeing reviews of the new razer cooling pad with the same design as the Ilano.
Just ordered the same but they only had the 4060 one in stock at my local store so I'm stuck waiting till next week for it to arrive. I'm upgrading from a budget gaming laptop with a 1650 so I'm very excited!
@ as a first impression I am enjoying it. That being said, I did buy a an Aorus 15p about 5 years ago with a 3060 and 16gb of ram. It performed well, still does but the QA was just bad. The screen died about 9 months in just in time for a warranty claim but after that the whole keyboard deck has been falling apart slowly. Green LEDs are dying and one of the guides for the power button broke.
Considering how sturdy the G14 feels I would expect it to maintain better integrity than my previous laptop without it falling apart for no reason.
After that first experience is when I noticed that built quality is also as or more important that just specs/cost.
0:37 nice that the prompt is overlayed on top of it.
Great channel. Wish you'd cover more workbook laptops for cad and engineering. Good time now either way because the rtx 40X0s can be a great way to save money in that department. Looking at the white 7i
Lets see if Yoga Slim 7x is here
Its good prob one my favourite snapdragon laptops but with all the insane deals on the vivobook it makes more sense t o pick up one of those
💩
@@MatthewMonizfor Black Friday in Australia I saw the slim 7x for A$2000 which is like US$ 1300. Would you reckon that’s a good deal? This was for 1TB SSD 32 GB RAM btw…
just bought a Yoga 7 AMD 2 in 1 around a week ago and hit a horrible stroke of bad luck. No post or display on the screen at all. No idea what happened and can’t visit a Lenovo technician because I’m overseas. so im pretty much stuck until I get back. oof
G14 is so goated like its out of this world
No it isn't. If you need lots of RAM, you're f-ed.
I want it to be upgradable so bad
so goated it overheat directly to hell with Satan😂 ,nah ill better buy a TUF A14 instead for the price
@@cameronbosch1213 like its a priority i am so fed up of my 16 inch laptop and having so much power in this form factor with such a beautiful display and aesthetic is really nice
@@Sanakan.safeguard its not premium i need oled like its my first priority because i watch movies in the dark
asus zenbook 14 meteor lake is amazing at the moment intel 125h, 2.8k touch oled, 16gb ram and 512gb ssd for a whopping £599 great british pounds surely got be a contender for best mid range, many thanks for videos pal.
My pleasure!
I didn't get the humor in posting the link to Vivo S15 for $499... it's $899 and if you say to me that 400$ deal was ever in place - please tell me when.
Picked up a m3 16gb for $850 at Best Buy one of the best deals I seen in a while
I'm still torned between Yoga 9i and Omnibook Ultra Flip. Could you give recommendations?
Auto pass to OLED too many static images on windows BURN IN is waving..
Also PWM causes fatigue and headache using it long term
Might as well buy 2024 ips display
your video quality is amazing
Thank you!
My opinion for budget probably would of landed on the Asia TUF A16 16-32g ram for 4070 with 2tb of ssd but all solid choices great vid
The best budget laptop (that is NOT a Snapdragon) is the ASUS Vivobook S 14 Intel Core Ultra 5 Series 2 (226v), 16GB RAM, 512GB for $649 at BestBuy. For $999, Walmart has the Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 2 (258v) variant, 32GB RAM, 1TB for $999.
I'm still deciding between the Omnibook Ultra Flip and the Zenbook 14. The 2-in-1 feature is a nice extra, but it's not a dealbreaker for me. Is the difference between these two models significant enough to go with the Zenbook?
ThanQ Yu the best ,All the best keep Going 💯 ❤
Got the Asus tufa14 hx370 rtx4060 32gb ram a couple of days ago - pretty happy with it so far!
On the fence between the TUF a14 and the g14. How does HellDivers 2 run on it if you tried? Do the materials look cheap around the screen?
I just bought PX13 and loving it to bits. It is my first Windows laptop in almost two decades, so far zero regrets. I don't think the 60Hz is a big deal - I've a monitor with high refresh rate when I want to play games.
That bg tone sounds like a bollywood song hangover
i just got the lenovo LOQ 15irx9 i7 with rtx rtx 4060 and its awesome i can do 4k editing work on it and it works really smoothly without any lag.
Got the x360 spectre 14 for 1279€ love how well build it feels
Its an awesome laptop! Glad you're enjoying it
In which color did u get it?
@ only color options was slate blue. Got the pen but no dongles.
@@cbastien92 is it the same as the laptop in 08:09?
@@JDM917👍🏾
Thinkpad x1 2in1 Gen 9 14” gotta be one of the best premium laptops out there if you don’t game.
I prefer the Acer Predator Helios 18 pro. This is because I love a system that has a big screen, the CPU & GPU is the type that will last at least 5 of more years before getting a new one. The screen is a mini led display. A laptop can also be carried around. Although I don't have it. Second is the Redmagic Titan 16 Pro, the design to be is fair, specs is ok for me as well. All because I love gaming on PC than the consoles.😊
Well, i grap asus tuf a 14 with ryzen 9 hx 370 with a discount. I recommend this laptop for everyone. I think there is only one down-side and it’s not speakers. The downs side is screen size. It’s 14 inch however computers form factor is very small, it could have been 14.5 inc or something like that.
That's a great choice! The Ryzen 9 HX processor is a beast.
@@MatthewMoniz thx Matthew Moniz. Your videos are great and very informative. In Turkey you have to pay extra %20 percent tax for all laptops. Also, you should see laptop market in here, only limited number of laptops are coming to just a few distrubuters, if you can purchase, good if you didnt purchase in time, than for months out of stock. I was waitin next year for purchasing new pc for new graphic cards but i catch great discount. This laptop has a great screen. No reflection at all. with additional memory slot, now i'm enjoying 2 tb memory. An apple user has to work for apple for sometime to get 2tb memory.
Hmmm what's the laptop that would be: ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (with AMD AI 9 HX 370) + 4070 or 4080 GPU + 64GB ram + 2TB ssd? I checked and the G16 comes with soldered and max 32GB ram which is unfortnate
I have two hopes for laptops on 2025:
1. Razer prices down more and gets better battery life with arrow lake cpu(hopefully)
2. ASUS launches a Zephyrus M16 with the new G16 design(modular RAM)
Razer prices coming down wont happen but Arrow lake for sure!
Efficiency empowers sustainability.
I absolutly love MacBooks but I am not a MacBook user nor I use apple devices!
Thats cool! What do you use?
im really looking forward to RTX 5000 series. Their performance and impact on prices of RTX 4000 laptops will hugely determine what to do around Apr-July '25. I'm seriously thinking of getting the Zephyrus G16 4080 model (coz of the vapour chamber and 32GB ram), but there are a few problems:
1. its too expensive. even after the bf sale it was around USD 2400
2. exactly what u said in this video, I can easily get myself a premium 14" laptop AND a PS5 for almost 60% of the cost of the G16. my main focus on the G16 is coz of it's OLED display.
3. get myself an iPad Pro (very expensive too) and a PS5 and stay on my current laptop (Acer Swift X RTX 3050). idk if the iPad Pro (only model with OLED display) would be worth it for the sole purpose of media consumption :/
very difficult decision indeed lol
I need help to buy a new gaming laptop but i need it to be quite i had ebook from the fan kicking:
-Thin and light
- quite
- powerful
I usually play not very heavy games
Overwatch / lol / apex
What would you recommend?
What do you think about the surface laptop 7? I am a Windows User and dont want to Switch to macOS
By all accounts it's amazing. The performance of my surface pro 11 has been impressive, instantly on with face unlock feels like living in the future
I feel like the Asus ProArt P 16 could have been given a mention. It's comparable to the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i in term so performance, but it runs AMD instead of Intel, same RTX 5060/4079 and is much, much lighter with much better battery life. Is it just as / almost as good?
I mentioned the PX13 which is its baby brother and the G16 i mentioned earlier is a more affordable pro-art with a high refresh display
@@MatthewMoniz Cool. I just think the ProArt P16 is quite remarkable. How is the keyboard on the ProArt P16 compared to the Yoga Pro 9i? The Yoga Pro 9i has one of the best keyboards I've ever tried.
(Typing this on a Surface Pro keyboard cover. The Surface Pro's keyboard cover is not bad. But not quite Lenovo.)
What would be a good budget laptop for my friend so she can run Baldur's Gate 3 with decent settings / not janky?
wut about the zenbook s17...was sort of an odd one
mathew please if im gonna get an external monitor to connect to my laptop for gaming, what is the most important feature i should be looking for in my laptop screen,is it high refresh rate or high screen quality,
plus, do you think the razer blade 18 is really better than the m18r2 from alienware?
for the windows creator laptop, is there a reason you went with the Yoga Pro 9i or over the Asus ProArt P16? i returned my Yoga Pro 9i because Lenovo implements the MiniLED in a weird way. its basically an IPS panel in SDR mode and MiniLED in HDR mode. Felt like a rip off to pay for a miniled and only get to see the benefits a fraction of the time
whats the best laptop where you can put in a simcard for a reasonable price?
what gen intel are we in? I just don't understand because its hard to keep up.
Good video. Any thoughts on the Alienware X16 R2?
Thanks! Unfortunately I havent reviewed any Dell laptops this year /=
Overpriced and soldered RAM.
No Alienware?
I'm tempted by the Omnibook Ultra Flip, but locally they only sell it with 1TB SSD, and I want 2TB.
* Will I break the warranty if I switch SSD?
The ASUS ProArt PX13 is also a 2-in-1, and I can get that with a 2 TB SSD. Better performance, but I'm worried about the battery life.
If I want to do without pen-support, I can get the X1 Carbon with 2 TB SSD, but it is quite expensive, and I haven't seen tests with battery life, etc. Also, the Elitebook X G1a seems interesting. but may be expensive.
Way too many horror stories about the HP Spectre series. Can't trust anyone recommending them. They might sparkle in review testing, but insane failures
If only honor put Lunar lake in their magicbook art 14., that would be the best for light users….also weird how it gets so little attention from techtubers

Lenovo LOQ for the best budget gaming laptop
Lenovo LOQ would be my second pick but definitely you can make a case for it being #1.

How about Asus vivobook pro 15 Oled with ultra 9 and RTX 4060 and 24 gb ram ?
Unfortunately I’m here for a budget laptop
The best laptop of 2024 is my £600 Huawei matebook 14 with a 2.8 120hz OLED, 16 gigs RAM, 512 SSD, touch screen, premium build (keyboard is fantastic) and 70wh battery and intel core ultra 5 125h. And that's it. End of story. Nothing else to talk about.
