I'm not afraid to say it. These watches look awful. I wouldn't wear it on my wrist it if were only $99.99. Looks like a $99.99 Alibaba Express watch. I understand the movement is complex due to the tourbillon but that's a large watch. It looks like a skeletonized Invicta. I'm also a smaller guy (6.5 inch wrist) so anything over a 40-42 mm watch tends to swallow my entire wrist.
This Is fun and there are very few people on here that could afford a $100k-$1m for a watch. Honestly that’s just stupidity especially when people are starving around the world. Late stage of capitalism folks

This watch is more important that people realize... A chinese company is making the most complicated movement of them all, for a really little money. This is a big step for our era, right now you can find icons are changing. I love swiss watches but I applaud on the achievement of chinese horology ans engineering. They really can do anything.
What do you mean "real" or "fake" tourbilllon? By fake, I guess you mean some watches that are made to look like a tourbillon like a Stuhrling or a JORD? Yeah this watch is NOT like them. You can clearly see the ERA Prometheus is a tourbillon by the rotating apparatus.
@@satcfountainhead Thanks for that. I probably phrased the question poorly. Id like him to have concentrated a little more on the quality of the watch and discussed it's value as compared to the millionaire watches this is apparently competing against. All he did was shout a bit and talk about how lovely the box is
I'd look back to a few episodes ago where Jory did a collection primer. His first pick was a field style watch because it was versatile for sport or smart casual. You should be active at your age so I'd be concerned about shock, water damage, or sweat. Personally I'd probably recommend quartz over auto to start. Something with 100m water resistance and no leather. You can switch to leather for dress occasions if you wish. I'd also recommend something with resin or all stainless steel construction; some Timex watches even now have chrome plated brass and it can react poorly with skin. I started wearing a watch around that age and had a leather band that got sweaty and the brass crown scarred my wrist.
There is no shop selling our watch. Only online and you can see many people have already bought on Kickstarter: www.kickstarter.com/projects/937896050/era-timepieces-certified-millionaire-watches-under/comments
I find it strange that a mechanism created to help accuracy in timepieces is mentioned and included in this timepiece yet the gloss over is accuracy or lack of having plus or minus 24 seconds a day.
For me the prime reason for a watch is "TO TELL THE TIME!" Any watch that has so much clutter on the dial that you cannot easily see the hands and the numerals / hour indicators is failing this function. Yes this watch is a nice piece of watchmaking BUT hopeless at being an instrument to tell the time.
Visually, I love tourbillons & skeleton watches for the flashy display of engineering, but don't see myself wearing one personally as I typically wear tool watches. Maybe a more reserved tourbillon for a dress watch, but I barely wear an open heart watch I have. Oh, and I too was obsessed over a moonphase, but put it off due to the reasoning above. I've learned of an affordable moonphase chronograph, however, so that's the direction I'm going now. Also, while easily accomplished by checking the internet, a moonphase isn't completely useless and could be beneficial to anyone living or working around large bodies of water to track the tides & whatnot. Plus, while likely coincidences, I have also noticed customers are a bit more loony on shifts that align with full moons, lol
Love the platinum diamond one. Shows that you pay most of the money on othet brands mostly for the brand name!! 6k is oyster perpectual money. Rolex are still my favourite brand but this proves many things!
My 1st question when buying a tourbillon at this price point would be how reliable is it going to be? How long before it breaks down and when it does do I know anyone that could fix it? That aside I dislike skeleton watches, so I'm out anyway! Another great, fun review, btw.
@Andy I know you said you dislike skeleton watches, but I figured I'd still answer your question. We have an amazing international 2-year warranty that gives you FREE EXPRESS DHL shipping with 100% insurance on the full value of the watch both to our service center and back. That means your timepiece is only away from you for ~2 weeks on average instead of the month+ that most other brands take. In short, if there's any issues with your timepiece, we're going to take care of it at absolutely no cost and minimal hassle to you the first 2 years.
@@ERATimepieces Thanks for taking the time to answer. Much appreciated. Really good to see companies taking an active interest in their potential clients' concerns :-)
They should make a totally clean version with just the tourbillon as a complication. (Vacheron Constantin Patrimony) style. I think it would be much more successful.
Luxury is a combination of three things. Without all three, it's not luxury. 1) expensive- "affordable luxury" doesn't exist. Part of luxury is the unattainability to the average person. Which leads us to... 2) exclusivity- not everyone should be able to attain the product regardless of whether they have the money to afford it. Having something others cannot attain is part of luxury otherwise it's just average. 3) quality- the product or service should be of a higher quality. Things like hand finishing over machine finishing or elevating the average to an art is what most people miss. If any one if these is missing then is not luxury, unless you're using the most basic of commodity definitions. In which case even the cheapest pos watch would qualify.
"Luxury" is an artificial social construct, which the economists call "conspicuous consumption". There's no denying the $6,500 IWC Portuguese Chrono is a "luxury" watch. But it houses a commonplace (albeit modified) ETA Valjoux 7750 movement, which can be found in a $500 Bulova Accutron Gemini or Hamilton Khaki Chrono. That one example of the IWC watch defeats both your "exclusivity" (plus you can get the Portuguese Chrono anywhere) and "quality" argument, leaving only the "expensive" in the IWC defense. A watch brand can artificially increase their watch prices and availability, just like what Rolex, Omega and Daniel Wellington (to an extent) do. My point is, your three points are incomplete. The most important point you didn't include is "brand perception", which is a very subjective matter. Without brand perception, a watch can have all three points you mentioned, but still nobody will THINK it's luxury.
I'm only confused and curious to know about its service down the years. Tourbillons are expensive to service and if I'm right, I guess service might cost more than a brand new watch.
To my understanding, such movement from Hangzhou cannot be repaired, can only be replaced with a new movement. I guess it is also much cheaper to replace since they are mass produced anyway.
The best thing about this watch is it says "hey, ya know all those Swiss watch makers charging $50,000 for their movement?...yeah, they shouldn't cost that much...the Chinese can do it for pennies on the dollar". More Chinese movements need to flood the market so Swiss will maybe stop artificially inflating their prices.

Can we talk about skeletonized watches for a second? The main reason one would want one is to admire the inner workings of the movement. Generally, this means there's something special about the movement, or it's embellished in some way. A skeletonized watch with, say, a basic Seagull movement or a Miyota makes no sense, which is the crux of the argument for many who dislike skeletonization. This, however, has a tourbillon, which is fantastic to view and so it makes sense in this application. Whether or not you like this piece aesthetically comes down to personal preference, but I don't think this falls into the "try to make it look cool and end up making it gaudy" category.
Seriously though, I have no problem with Chinese watches. I'd even think buying a Chinese tourbillon is a great way to experience them without over spending. However, I really don't like how they campaigned against the luxury watch industry. They attribute the hefty prices to merely price inflation and exclusivity, disregarding the craftsmanship of the watch makers, and they never mentioned that their movement is sourced from China in their initial campaign, but alluding to the possibility that these movements are done by the same watch makers as the Swiss industry. Not saying that this is not a good bargain or a good product, but...
@@j.s.3414 I did not say that the prices of Swiss watches or even German watches aren't inflated. And certainly there are companies with shady operations or even downright rebranding Chinese movements as Swiss made. But that doesn't justify this company from misleading prospective buyers. How many of those initial backers of the campaign know that you can find watches with almost identical movement and design for even cheaper in China?
The Seagull tourbillon exhibit finer finissage than the jaeger lecoultre tourbillon. I have owned both and the black polish on the Seagull is actually better executed
@@zackpointer5091 But Seagull did not try to allude themselves to be Swiss Made. They are quite proud in putting the China Made on the dials. I have not read much about how Seagull markets its tourbillons, but I don't think they place their marketing theme on down playing the Swiss industry. I've actually been contemplating on getting a Seagull tourbillon lately as well. I think they are priced reasonably well.
I bought a Minorva RG moonphase date 1-min real flying tourbillon on eBay for US $305 plus shipping. Quite a good looking watch, made in China. After 4 months the date and moonphase no longer worked !
@Geardos yeah definitely. Mechanical masterpieces like our Tourbillons have parts that move tens of thousands of times a day, and over a few years... the lubricating oil inside evaporates and parts wear down... and so servicing a mechanical timepiece every 3 years is absolutely essential. Now if you're familiar with servicing any Swiss mechanical watch, you'll know they don't ever charge less than $450 and that's not counting shipping or other extra fees for parts etc. For many brands, servicing a Tourbillon starts between $1500 and $4000 USD. We created ERA timepieces with a simple mission -- to make haute horological complication attainable for normal people. We knew our timepieces wouldn't be very attainable for normal people if we kept up this same tactic, and so that's why have an EXTREMELY lucrative flat-rate $150 servicing fee that covers parts, labor, and EXPRESS global DHL shipping with 100% insurance both TO our service center and back to you for just $150.
It would had been nice to get a measurement of the accuracy of the movement. The goal behind a tourbillon is to have the watch more immunes to positioning variation.
Sylvain, Our timepieces are regulated down to +/- 10 seconds, and in some cases +/- 5 seconds which means it performs on par with any entry level tourbillon on the market. Tourbillons were created for accuracy in the 1790's, but modern interpretations feature it because of its mesmerizing properties rather than accuracy (in which case the most accurate mechanical watch will lose to a cheap quartz watch)

I don’t usually like them either, but the fact that there are two movements in that watch and the chronograph measures 1/100th of each second (one revolution per second on the longest hand) is astounding.
I like the Zenith Defy el Primero 21 but not with a price tag of $10,000.
Actually, it is a Carrousel and not a Tourbillon.
The watch looks cheap because its cheap!, they are ok but not a fine or millionaire watch
This Is fun and there are very few people on here that could afford a $100k-$1m for a watch. Honestly that’s just stupidity especially when people are starving around the world. Late stage of capitalism folks
Where i can buy this whatch ?
www.indiegogo.com/projects/era-certified-millionaire-tourbillon-watches#/
funny video and presentation but NO comment on the dial painting? from the guy who is annoyed by seiko bezels beeing off some microns?
this dial was not only off it was skewed. or the crown is placed at the 3:30 position and i didnt notice.
if you asked me it looked terrible. also that thick silvery color metal plate/ring around the tourbillong jewel was offputting.
Hi bro.. wonder what leather strap you are wearing. It looks nice.
It's a hornback croc leather strap
Hey buddy what's about Memorigin stellar series
4 years later you buy one around 300 and a double tourbillon for 700,some designs are even pretty cool and well finished
This watch is more important that people realize... A chinese company is making the most complicated movement of them all, for a really little money. This is a big step for our era, right now you can find icons are changing. I love swiss watches but I applaud on the achievement of chinese horology ans engineering. They really can do anything.
Japanese watachmakers fucked up the swiss with the introduction of Quartz... And they will do it again
This isn't the most complicated.....
What is the brand again?

@@satcfountainhead thanks
What's the lug width?
What do you think about the $150 Stuhrling skeleton watches?
I like this big guy. Hahahaa. Bring review with full of fun :V
Don't talk to me. I'm luxurious. Hilarious man. XD
Every reason you dont like it is more reasons why I like it lol
Don’t like it that the centre of the hands are above the horizontal 3 to 9 o’clock line.
6000 dollars for a platinum , diamond watch with a chinese movt. brilliant indeed !!!!!!
Moon phase complications aren’t useless. If you fish it’s good to know the moon phases.
Lol, "Don't talk to me, I'm luxurious"
Whats the name of the brand
eratimepieces.com
It's nice to see you're getting more in shape. Keep it up!
Id love to know your views about the quality of this watch and whether we should drop the money on it? Is it a real Tourbillon?
What do you mean "real" or "fake" tourbilllon? By fake, I guess you mean some watches that are made to look like a tourbillon like a Stuhrling or a JORD? Yeah this watch is NOT like them. You can clearly see the ERA Prometheus is a tourbillon by the rotating apparatus.
@@satcfountainhead Thanks for that. I probably phrased the question poorly. Id like him to have concentrated a little more on the quality of the watch and discussed it's value as compared to the millionaire watches this is apparently competing against. All he did was shout a bit and talk about how lovely the box is
Awesome ,does a tourbillon always take the place of a seconds hand.?
I don't like it. It looks cheaply made and the dial is so busy that telling the time is almost impossible ⏲️
I am just starting to collect watches at 11 years old any recommendations
Atomic Bean so, recommending a G-shock first might be good, and a nice 38mm field watch for daily and dress wear.
I will buy
I like skeleton watches when they are easily readable like the Hamilton gent auto, this is not one of them.
Subscribed... great content, brother.
the thing is i can't trust online order
but i really interest era tourbillion design mechanical watches
hope any shop selling this watches
You can use Paypal or credit card to protect yourself and guarantee 100% you will get your watch
There is no shop selling our watch. Only online and you can see many people have already bought on Kickstarter: www.kickstarter.com/projects/937896050/era-timepieces-certified-millionaire-watches-under/comments
The point of a true tourbillon is time accuracy retention. It isn’t just for looks. I’m not going to get into it but it’s not for looks
Any chance you would review a U-BOAT CAPSOIL RED? not much on that watch but very interesting concept.
Never thought I could conceivably own a tourbillion
My son may get one for his graduation! Thanks brutha!
Yes this watch is a nice piece of watchmaking BUT hopeless at being an instrument to tell the time.
if you are going for function any 5 dollar quartz watch is better
just like Andy Warhol said - he doesn’t wind his watches, but wore it for the sake of wearing it. Watches are definitely the best men’s accessory.
Or astrophotographer like me. I can not take deepsky photos during half or full moon.
It's like wearing a washing machine on your wrist and watching the spin cycle mode. These watches are huge!
Love the platinum diamond one. Shows that you pay most of the money on othet brands mostly for the brand name!! 6k is oyster perpectual money. Rolex are still my favourite brand but this proves many things!
Even at 1000$ it can’t be called a necessity it is still a luxury
I recently seen an advertisement on TH-cam for a tourbillon .... has anyone else seen this and if so, can you please give me the name of it ?
Era Timepieces good to see you guys are reading the comments
@@ERATimepieces Thanks for taking the time to answer. Much appreciated. Really good to see companies taking an active interest in their potential clients' concerns :-)
They should make a totally clean version with just the tourbillon as a complication. (Vacheron Constantin Patrimony) style. I think it would be much more successful.
Very cool review. Lots of fun to watch.
They are almost $2000 & the diamond one $6800.
I sent era a message they didn't honor $1000. So I bought a breitling with diamonds for $7000
BEEP BOOP. Holy bling, Batman.
Cool concept, but a 44mm skeleton is not for me. Still cool to see ERA take a risk and offer something different.
im a backer of this watch. i cant wait to get my hands on mine

The Swiss market IS inflated...both by price, fake wait lists, 1000 different "special editions"... Swiss watch market is a damn joke right now.
Idk why this is in my recommended, but I enjoyed the video, very good work!
I bought a Minorva RG moonphase date 1-min real flying tourbillon on eBay for US $305 plus shipping. Quite a good looking watch, made in China. After 4 months the date and moonphase no longer worked !
are they even able to service it
@Geardos yeah definitely.
7:25 someone please make a meme out of this, thank you.
Most of these comments are so negative, I think for a Kickstarter brand they definitely did well with this one.
they just rebranded it from chinese watch,. just look at aliexpress and youll find a lot of chinese tourbillon watch with way less than this shit.
What is a tourbillon
It would had been nice to get a measurement of the accuracy of the movement. The goal behind a tourbillon is to have the watch more immunes to positioning variation.
Sylvain, Our timepieces are regulated down to +/- 10 seconds, and in some cases +/- 5 seconds which means it performs on par with any entry level tourbillon on the market. Tourbillons were created for accuracy in the 1790's, but modern interpretations feature it because of its mesmerizing properties rather than accuracy (in which case the most accurate mechanical watch will lose to a cheap quartz watch)
@@ERATimepieces Ok so it is around the accuracy of a nh35. It's a very nice complication but mostly for the complication itself.
I love this beautiful watch. I wanted to get it for hubby, but now I want it for me! Too big?
