    Congratulations on your Sugess!
    I have the same movement in another Sugess, the enamel face with Breguet numerals. I was trying it out in anticipation of buying a German watch costing much, much, more with a standard movement with similar size and design.
    I never bothered with the German watch. I've had this one for a couple of years and although I have more costly watches with recognised brands this one is pretty much my favourite.
    It has proved reliable. The power reserve makes it very convenient and I found the strap and clasp very comfortable for extended periods of wear.
    I'd second the commenter who suggested buying from the supplier. I purchased, through Amazon, from Sugess. Their communication was fast and on-point.
    I have no hesitation in recommending Sugess and this watch. I expect that I will buy more Sugess watches in the future.
    Thanks for the interesting video!

    I've just received mine today. Case finishing is excellent, markers around the tourbillion are a little bit off center aside from that dial is impeccable. Movement looks pretty good and having a tourbillion at this peice range is unbelievable. All in all pretty happy with purchase. 😊

    Beautiful watch this one, the styling is great and it looks very well made, not for the price, just really well made in general. Some time ago you made a video on a chronograph from mysterious code, and that inspired me to get their wandering hours watch, although mine was labled as pindu on the listing. It has no brand labeled (except maybe "contemporary complications" on the back, but I can't find anything pointing to that as the brand). I put it on a sailcloth style rubber strap and it has singlehandedly replaced my entire collection, I basically haven't worn anything else since I got it and it is my new favorite watch, so thank you for that.

    • @Tone_SA
      @Tone_SA  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was actually looking at that Pindu wandering hours, only thing pushing me back is the thickness.
      And also I am pretty sure it's from the same exact factory as Mysterious Code haha.
      Anyways, wear it in good health!

    • @nekrozclockwork
      @nekrozclockwork ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Tone_SA thank you, I also agree, there seems to be a single factory making this module used by mysterious code, pindu, Pierre Paulin and Hology.
      I got the sport watch version, not the dress watch one and the listing states 13 mm thick, I haven't confirmed it but it seems accurate, which for a sports watch is quite good, especially for one with such a complication. I would heartily recommend the watch, especially at sale price, I saved like 40 dollars on it.

    Without a doubt, these Chinese made tourbillons are getting increasingly popular. My only concern is its reliability due to lack of quality control. To sum it up, it’s a good looking watch for the price. Great review, btw.👍🏼

      I received mine this week, a Sugess moonphase/tourbillon combo - I can only vouch for the fit and finish, and after much research I think sea-gull killed it with this movement. Plenty of dollars left for servicing, or quite frankly, replacing, but I don't think that will be the case after what I received. A tip I received from a longstanding Ali to Amazon flipper - buy from the official stores, either online or Ali-Express - they pick the best movement/watch combos in order to build out their brands and reputation, and are super responsive to any issues one might have. Haven't had to test that, but they were really responsive and fast right through the process (I hounded them with "pick me the best one" messages :D :D)

    Amazing and super informative video! After watching right at the end and hearing the mention of honorable mentions such as Aesop and Acelocer you also mentioned Jinlery. I really want to know how reliable Jinlery and how its quality is as a brand and movement because it's the cheapest tourbillon i've seen yet! Even cheaper than Aesop but can't find any info about the brand and movement used. So i was wondering if you knew anything about the brand and if it's worth a perchance. Or will just break after a month or two?

    • @Tone_SA
      @Tone_SA  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As far as I can see, based on just the actual product pictures, I am pretty sure they use the lowest end tourbillons available. The other parts of the watch also have distinct cost cutting measures. Like cheaper hands, cheaper dial.
      I can't assess the reliability, but I'd say it's probably more of a miss then hit. E.g. you'd have a higher chance of getting one that fails easily than one that doesn't.

However, if you bought it from another website, I am afraid that you probably won't find any help. Some of the really cheap ones say that but don't actually have a tourbillon in them. A tourbillon is an extremely effective way/complication to increase the accuracy of pocket watches in the olden days, not a chinese brand. It is sought after due to the difficulty of making such a complication, and also that its distracting in a pleasant way.

    • @Tone_SA
      @Tone_SA  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well really depends on who is doing the assembly I guess. If the same people in Grand Seiko with the same love of watches decided to go to Indonesia and start an assembly branch with the same standards, I'm sure they'd do as well.
      When it comes to watches like these, it really comes up to the person or the group of people who decided to make the watch. So far this watch is assembled pretty well, I mean it still ticks to this day if that matters, it's already been almost a year since I bought it

    Wow Sugess put out all the stops here. The movement bridges are all beveled and chamfered something even top swiss watch brands omit on their tier watches. Also, what is this I see, a screwed balance wheel on the tourbillion ?! Now that is a proper old fashioned balance wheel, something the watch exudes. Everything looks old fashioned - the movement, the dial (a classic Breguet look)... nothing looks out of place. Even the font for "Sugess" is appropriate for this watch, not the usual Sugess cursive.

    How does the finishing of the movement compare with Grand Seiko?

    • @Tone_SA
      @Tone_SA  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Very blatantly, Grand Seiko destroys the Sugess. So does Rolex and tudor quite frankly, in a purely watchmaking perspective.
      This is not only due to how 'shiny' the movements look, but also how clean the shaping of the movement plates are, how good the engraving for the letters at the back is, and also in general the cleanliness of the movement.
      But if you compare it with Seiko, I think it's on par in terms of cleanliness and better in terms of finishing and luxor.

    • @Tone_SA
      @Tone_SA  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Perlage on the Sugess is one thing, but its a very low grade and inconsistent perlage. I'd much better prefer minimal, really well done finishing on the visible parts of the watch then subpar finishing on lesser seen parts of a watch. Also from tearing apart some Seagull movements, alot fo the time internally its not actually finished, not too sure about this sugess.
      And from what I see, the 9S does have a perlage finish. At least at the base of the movement, not too sure about the internals though.

      Hasn't broken yet and is still going strong.
      The suggestion to repair is really situational. It depends on the price of the repair vs the original price of the watch. For movements like this, which are usually produced almost as if it was disposable, have parts that are difficult to source, and may drive up prices.
      Heck even just a basic service of the watch won't be cheap.

    It looks nothing like a guilloche cut dial. It does not reflect light at all really or in any way similar to guilloche work. It's a matte finish without crisp line work and zero depth.
    It does look nice and somewhat reminds me of the old silvered dials on a clock. It won't fool anyone that's even vaguely famiar with guilloche. Straight line engines and rose engine lathes produce an unmistakable look with bright cuts and depth, this does not.
    It's still a great value and a lot of watch for $$$. The tourbillon is the big draw and the only reason to spend $600 on it. Otherwise that money is better spent on higher quality brands with better movements and nicer finishes.

    Are you sure uppon some details?
    - There is probably no ANTI REFLECTING COATING used on the front glass (bought a very similiar one from Sugess this year; no coating)
    - Back glass is very probably normal MINERAL GLASS. Simply test it with a drop of water and observe the difference between the front- and the back glass. In my case it's normal mineral glass. As it is the case on my Seagull 1963 from Sugess.
    - BLUEING is very probably chemical and not thermal

    • @Tone_SA
      @Tone_SA  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello, for my watch.
      - There is a blue hue on the crystal, which generally points towards an anti-reflective coating being applied, which causes the blue hue, or red, or green, depending on what the manufacturer does.
      - This, I cannot confirm. I've accidentally had the buckle laying on the caseback at some points and yet there doesn't seem to be any visible scratches yet. Whereas on certain other mineral crystal watches that I have, there are very noteable scratches all over the crystal. However, you may be right on this as another viewer pointed out that the moonphase master from sugess also had a mineral glass back. But since I cannot check, and the Sugess website and listing states a sapphire glass, I still state that it is.
      - I don't know much about the processes they run in the factories, however, there is very little info on watchmakers chemically bluing hands instead of heat bluing them. Traditionally, heat bluing is done with an open flame by hand, but from what I know in my own experience is that nowadays, manufacturers can just throw hands into a heater and have it done that way, while if done chemically, either has to be done by hand or through a bath of chemicals, which may affect the cost of the part. But since the hands themselves are most likely not made by sugess, as most Chinese manufacturers do, there is probably a major watch hand and precision parts producing manufacturer that supplies their hands. But all I can say is, it looks much better than those really terrible painted blue hands, and is genuinely comparable to the the blued hands of more expensive manufactures, like Grand Seiko and Breguet.
