I think Casio and Orient getting top 16 in this price point is an amazing achievement considering all of these models are under 250$ while their competitors are above 500$.
I agree, but to me it’s not surprising. I have two Orient Bambino’s One with a green dial, and one with the Pearl white. They are my “everyday go to’s” even though I have a couple of carriers and some Longines and Tissot which are significantly “more watch!” There’s something about their elegant functionality, at their price point, which gives me a certain peace if not joy! I’m just not as relaxed when I’m wearing my Cartier’! Their Kamasu dive watch looks and feels really good on the wrist, and is on my list. I own a Hydro Conquest which is a bit higher spec, but I actually prefer the fur. finish and size of the Kamasu. Orients got it going on!
@@dr.davidmiller6682 I am on the same page. I have a red dial Kamasu which I love wearing. I put on a matching red leather strap during winter to make it more of a daily watch and during summer, a nato strap to make it a stylish watch to wear at the beach. So versitile.
Would be interested to see how Orient and Casio fare in an under $500 bracket. I've really enjoyed wearing my Casio Duro and now my Orient Kamasu as daily watch.
As someone who purchased a Hamilton Khaki Field Auto with a black strap as their 1st watch I can truly say I have no regrets. Seeing it come 4th was surprising against the Alpinist. Photos don't do it justice and in person it is stunning. Such a versatile watch.
It would be interesting to see how many of these watches would also be in the top watches under 500 dollars or under 2000 dollars too! I really liked this bracket idea! Very entertaining!
Absolutely love this tournament format, Teddy! Definitely would like to see this at the $500, $1500, $2000, $2500, etc price points and to do annually!
My list goes: 1. Seiko Cocktail Time 2. Seiko Alpinist 3. Seiko Speedtimer 4. Tissot PRX 5. Citizen Tsuyosa 6. Tissot Gentleman 7. Hamilton Khaki Field Auto 8. Seiko 5 GMT 9. Orient Bambino 10. Orient Kamasu Casio G-Shock and Casio Duro could make it too
I don’t disagree with the results but I do am kinda surprised. Love both the PRX and alpinist, and it is a very interesting matchup. I know it was NCAA bracket style, but wouldn’t like to see a reshuffle when a brand was facing itself, at least until it’s not longer possible to shuffle. Great video
Thinking about the the various price-point collection videos that you've done (which I love), I'd point out that the top 2 don't make a bad 2 watch collection, together they are versatile and cover quite a few bases (and if we dig into the top 4 its even better). The data acquired from this sort of head to head bracket format could be the catalyst for the next generation of collection vids.....and we would all be here for it.
I been thinking about the Seiko Green Alpininst. Seiko makes many watches. Many are good looking. The Green Alpininst I believe is a watch Men like looking at. It is a steel watch that looks like a classic. Not too dressy but dressy enough. It is not a diver but a field watch. But has the strength of a diver. It is original looking with out being a Submamariner clone. It is a solid watch which people can afford without feeling they settled for less. It is unique. There are few watches that you look at that you admire it's looks after bought it. I even like it better than the Grand Seiko watches. That is why it came in second in your survey. I own several vintage Omega watches. I like vintage Omega watches. But the Watch which is not over priced is a watch brings me pleasure. It is one those rare watches that come by that you know is a winner!
I own a PRX, Hamilton KFA, and cocktail time, all are fantastic and come out for different occasions, but the Hamilton KFA is just *so* versatile, the dial is just amazing and really ledgeable, there's nothing else quite like it and it just nails it... For when you want to actually tell the time, if that makes sense... then the Hamilton is just so on point and is so well designed too, I'm so glad that I made that investment and its my number 1 watch and the one that makes it out of the box the most for sure. Thanks for the video Teddy, your the Don on youtube for watches, no one else is in your class.
I liked it but I recommend giving the specs for each model as you did for the two winners at the end. This is a good way to expand our knowledge of the field of watch choices. Hope you do more of this with different categories of watches.
Considering that none of it's competitors have made it past low orbit, the Bulova Lunar Pilot not making it past the first round is a travesty. What was also surprising is the total lack of any Citizens. A sub $500 match needs to happen. This concept is brilliant and congratulations on the excellent content.
This was fun... I have 4 of these watches myself... the Orient Kamasu, Orient Bambino (v7), Bulova Lunar Pilot and the Seiko 5 GMT... these have been my "entry level" purchases generally. This was a fun and interesting little competition. I'm wearing my 42 mm Hamilton Khaki Field auto today so I was pleased that it's smaller sibling made the semi-final. Great everyday workhorse and contemporary watch, usually available at a very affordable price and way cheaper than the Murph.
My issue is that the integrated bracelet Tissots are in vogue NOW - but which one will remain timeless and be applicable for longer? I feel like this result was based as much on current style trends as much as the quality of the watch - and I certainly think all of the watches here offer a lot so no dig at the PRX but I feel it will date itself as an overall design much faster than an Alpinist.

This video was an absolute blast. Please, yes, let's do more of this. Two takeaways from this video. One, I was pleased to see that the people who keep telling me dress watches are history, are simply wrong. They're still relevant and enjoyed by many. And two, I couldn't be happier in the final winner. My blue PRX gets more compliments and inquiries than almost any of my watches. It's truly a terrific watch for the money.
The one “knock” I have against the Seiko 5 Batman GMT is that the blue/black bezel is often hard to read in many lighting conditions. It does not pop like the Rolex Batman bezel.
@@samnangith19 Quartz is objectively better than mechanical. Every cheap Quartz watch will be more accurate than any “chronometer certified” modern Rolex
@@NoizeTank Nothing about watch is objective. If you're after accuracy you should get a smartwatch. Saying that, the Speedtimer is a fantastic watch and it's unfortunate that it faced off with the Murph which is more than double the price.
@@svdragunov “nothing about watch is subjective”? What? Watch accuracy is undoubtedly objective and quartz watches will always beat mechanical, objectively. The only subjective part there is how much you’re willing to tolerate that accuracy. You and I both know smart watches are a thing of their own. They are less watch and more gadget
I saw a quote once that you don’t wear a watch to tell the time. In the digital era, it’s definitely true. Watches are worn for style and as a statement of class.
The Bulova Lunar Pilot is an amazing watch that, IMO, often doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Maybe it's looked down on for being a quartz watch, and I am certainly guilty of thinking that at one point. But the 262 kHz movement is an impressive piece of engineering. The second hand sweeps more smoothly than even a 36000 bph Seiko or Zenith movement, almost approaching Seiko Spring Drive level smoothness. The accuracy of ±10 seconds _per year_ is mind boggling. You can even easily adjust (using the pushers) the positioning of the central seconds and 1/10th second hands if it ever starts to go out of alignment. The 43mm version is still a fairly big watch, but will definitely work on a much larger range of wrist sizes than the original 45mm version. And it is all put together with better fit and finish than usually found in its price range. Overall, it's a much better "budget Speedmaster" than the _actual_ budget Speedmaster.
My SSK003 has been basically glued to my wrist since I got it. It truly feels like just so much watch for that price. I have a brown leather strap for it and between that and the surprisingly very nice bracelet that came on it I really think this could be the only watch in my collection and I’d be fine.
The PRX, for as tiring as the attention and accolades are, is just so good. My 35mm quartz ice blue is by far the best looking watch I have and is the most versatile - it looks good with any outfit.
I have the exact same variation of the PRX and can't get enough of it, having that and a G-Shock GM-2100 in my collection has simply taken away my desire to increase the collection.
so much of these tournaments are personal taste - I have owned three of these watches: Hamilton Murph, Seiko Alpinist and Tissot PRX. I sold the PRX as I just never wore it. I'd say the Murph and Alpinist are the top two, and I can't say which should be 1, both are great watches.
Alpinist easily n1 on that list Seiko 5 gmt looks like a Rolex Tissot prx looks like an ap Alpinist it got its own unique character and it’s also very well made !
Thank you for your hard work Teddy, really appreciate your videos, very educational with good conclusions. helped me a lot to pick between Seiko and Tissot, PRX 80 on its way
got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on amzwatch 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroco
Based on the votes, I had the unpopular opinion on many of the match-ups! Great video, this was fun to watch and loved that the people got to vote on it!
Having both the PRX and the Lunar Pilot, I find the Lunar pilot so much more interesting. And with the quartz it's more accurate for day to day use. That being said, I love my PRX as well.
PRX is a worthy and rightful winner. Certina DS Action Diver 43mm with ceramic bezel is a hidden gem in my humble opinion. Too bad this watch isn't widely available in the US.
Proud owner of all four finalists (granted, my Alpinist is the originally Sarb). All incredible watches, and this is how I would list them: 1. Seiko Alpinist 2. Hamilton Khaki Auto 3. Tissot PRX (I have the quartz version) 4. Seiko Cocktail

I bought the blueberry from teddys store. I feel the opposite. No matter the lighting situation I cannot get the blue part of the bezel to appear as blue as in the vids. Fairly disappointed but still like the watch.

Doesn't mean these are the best .. this means that these are just the best chosen by your viewers. Also as you often point out regardless of these results buy what you like .. not what people say you should like.
Agreed with the styling… the dials on the automatics are nice for sure, but I’d take a black Lunar Pilot or an Orient Mako-3 all day over any of these.
I like the prx, it’s what got me interested in watches, but it is seriously overrated. You see it everywhere on social media if you follow watch content and watch enthusiasts
Just on my own personal ranking of watches i like and can afford responsibly, my top 2 is the tissot prx and seiko alpinist so im very happy that those are the watches in the final round. But I am surprised that alpinist was 2nd place. I thought it was a very niche watch that not a lot of people will like. That was a very happy surprise.

Because it was mentioned in this video, I looked up a brand I had never heard of before. Seagull Watches are made in China, but are they any good? They have some interesting designs on their website and what seem like too good to be true offerings. A sub $3000 Tourbillon? What am I missing? Are these watches worth considering?
I have been buying watches per Teddy's recommendation for a couple years now. I have been passing over the PRX multiple times, yet I still kept checking it out. I finally bought it with the light blue dial. Hamilton however, is my favorite.
I believe the way Mr Wonderful gushed over the Seiko Alpinist one year ago, stating if this was your first watch you couldn't find a better looking watch, might have swayed some opinion. It will be my next purchase!

Agreed, but I also think the Sunburst is the better option in the Seiko 5 GMTs but I like popping dials!
Lunar pilot over the prx for me. Especially the new design
As always, Quartz watches getting snubbed in every round. The Speedtimer should’ve gone further IMO
This was fun! I think doing a competition under $500 or $100, would be a blast too!
My SSK003 has been basically glued to my wrist since I got it. It truly feels like just so much watch for that price. I have a brown leather strap for it and between that and the surprisingly very nice bracelet that came on it I really think this could be the only watch in my collection and I’d be fine.
That was awesome - what a great idea ... should do this more in all sorts of price ranges and styles . FUN FUN FUN
I commented yesterday on the $3k tournament video, than discovered this and the $2k one today. Excellent content. This is creative and fun.
@@afonsomarinho101bro same here but I also have a 38mm Bambino
so much of these tournaments are personal taste - I have owned three of these watches: Hamilton Murph, Seiko Alpinist and Tissot PRX. I sold the PRX as I just never wore it. I'd say the Murph and Alpinist are the top two, and I can't say which should be 1, both are great watches.
This was so entertaining! Thank you, Teddy. Let’s keep doing these at different price points!
Alpinist is one of the most underrated watches. A true do It all. Super fun video
Bulova Lunar Pilot is IMO the best looking watch out of all of them
Alpinist easily n1 on that list
Seiko 5 gmt looks like a Rolex
Tissot prx looks like an ap
Alpinist it got its own unique character and it’s also very well made !
I have an alpinist, I'll prefer it instead of prx, good to see all the hustle.
All incredible watches, and this is how I would list them:
1. Seiko Alpinist
2. Hamilton Khaki Auto
3. Tissot PRX (I have the quartz version)
4. Seiko Cocktail
That is awesome. Any thoughts on the Tissot Gentleman?
@@briankenny6883 it’s a beautiful watch no doubt. I haven’t seen it in person unfortunately. Tissot always does an awesome job on the finishing of their cases. I like that it’s simple but can be worn dressy and or casual.
I didn't find it an upset for the Gentleman to beat the G-Shock. In fact, I was surprised to see the gentleman lose to the cocktail time. But great video, Teddy. Thoroughly enjoy the content.
I would chose gentleman always. For me PRX is ugly. Also It makes no sense to compare 80 euro Casioak g shock with almost 900 euro Tissot which is real watch.
@@NaviNavi-1uu8tgit makes all the sense in the world if you have ever seen the NCAA bracket format.
Sometimes CSU Longbeach plays Duke in the first round lol.
@@SuicideVanI never heard about any of these things, I don’t know about what are you talking about.
@@NaviNavi-1uu8tg then go educate yourself.
No thanks, irrelevant. I have 0 interest in NCAA bracket formats and in some American university team or whatever!
What is the strap on the Hamilton Khaki Field Auto? Would love to get one of that brown/tan strap.
Great idea. I think as time passes by the prx would lose it's edge and long term the alpinist is an easy win. It's like a budget explorer
So many micro brands, choice is good but I've been collecting & immersing myself in watch videos & I'm always hearing about a watch I never heard of before. What I like about collecting; you can really express yourself & most ladies & gentlemen that collect watches are just that..ladies & gentlemen!
The Seiko Blueberry GMT is far more striking in person. Likely it would have made it further had people experienced the light play.
I bought the blueberry from teddys store. I feel the opposite. No matter the lighting situation I cannot get the blue part of the bezel to appear as blue as in the vids. Fairly disappointed but still like the watch.
Hamilton Pilot Pioneer Mechanical 36mm and Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 35mm. The best.
As a marketing person Who the voters were/ what type of collectors your viewers are will impact the results. Doesn't mean these are the best .. this means that these are just the best chosen by your viewers.
Also as you often point out regardless of these results buy what you like .. not what people say you should like.
My first watch is this Cocktail Time. I'm happy with it, but wasn't sure how it was regarded.
Nice to see it performing so well.
I just think that prx is overrated as I’m not a fan of the looks but clearly I’m in the minority and looks are subjective
Totally agree !
I love my prx80! Divers leave me cold.
Love this format! Please do more!
absolute do more with more pricepoints!
it speaks volumes that the seiko cocktail time is in the final 4 coming it at well under $500. what a watch!!
I don't watch sports, but this was amazing. Finally, a bracket I care about.
My fav watch under 1k is definitely the Christopher ward 12
Firstly I am a Fan of Teddy and this channel but when I first saw this start to play out with the bracketing I thought it was going to be kind of hoakie. Wow! was I surprised, this has to be one of the hands down best ways to look at a group of watches. I love, love, love!!!! the bracketing, please let's see many more of these!
Great video! The prx did well because it's currently extremely overhyped, but it's probably going to go out of style.
Awesome video Teddy! Make it a series, under 500, under 5k, under 10k, would be so fun to watch!
I'm relatively knew to researching watches, etc., and I really enjoyed this vid and your channel! I've learned quite a bit from your vids, and you've actually altered the direction I was heading in the watch purchasing arena. GREAT STUFF SIR -- please keep up the good work! Cheers
Where is the Casio Oceanus line? Also a lot of good options in the GST G Shocks
This was really fun to watch!!!
Love it. I always thought the last two were my choices and of course I have the PRX so I expected it to win
Great video, I bought the new Seiko Alpinist SPB121 less than a month ago and couldn’t be happier with the purchase.
How do you still like your Alpinist and how accurate is it after a year owning it?
Top 3 from that bunch
Bulova Lunar Pilot
Bulova Oceanographer
Tissot PRX
Wasn’t the Seiko Alpinist discontinued in 2022?
I just got the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 with the green dial for Christmas and am constantly admiring how it looks on my wrist. Amazing watch for the price!
@teddy Which is the superior watch between the PRX and the Murph for versatility?
Before I watch the video - which Tissot is it?
I loved this show, great result. I am not a fan of the PRX but I can understand how it won.
I was cheering for the Lunar Pilot and the Alpinist 💪🏻
The cocktail, casioak and seiko 5 gmt featuring in this video makes me feel so reassured 😊
Didnt know that alpinist existed.. starting to regret getting my mojito
You, Theo and Harris and Federico are my three watch channels. You seem honest and smart. Could you ever do a video or part of a video on the JLC Sector dial Master Control. So little info on these BEAUTIFUL watch and it might be my biggest watch purchase because I saw ONE article on Hoodinkee. It is so classy and pretty. Thanks.
This is crazy! The last two watches have been the two watches I've been eyeballing for the last 6 months or so. I've had some unforeseen bills come my way recently so haven't been able to pull the trigger. But I guess I'm not the only one interested in them!
Which watch are you wearing? looks like a Marloe Pacific 52
Hello
What do you think of the fossil watch brand.are they worth it..
Which version of the casiooak is a best buy as collectors item
Because it was mentioned in this video, I looked up a brand I had never heard of before. Seagull Watches are made in China, but are they any good? They have some interesting designs on their website and what seem like too good to be true offerings. A sub $3000 Tourbillon? What am I missing? Are these watches worth considering?
Some of my favorites under 1K:
Citizen Tsuyosa, Bulova lunar moon watch, Hamilton Khaki Field, and I like that Jorg Gray that Obama wore quite often.
Next to the Alpinist the SRPE53 & 57 in IMO better than the other seiko’s on this list on versatility alone.
I really like this format... Please arrange a tournament with similar style watches (and price ranges)... Dive watches (under $1000) should be in their own tournament and Field watches should be in a separate tournament... Chronos (under $1000), etc... Then have a "best in breed type competition..." This could go on and on with multiple brackets.. It's fun
The PRX is currently my favorite watch. I can wear it all day comfortably and love just glancing down at the dial and brushes integrated case!
I’ve never seen that alpinist. It’s a great looking watch.
What is the best watch for a work dinner party? Im getting ready for my first company dinner and want to buy something nice but maybe keep it under $1400. Any suggestions?
can a chronograph be used for measuring time more than a minute?
