What? They were sarcastic jokes? I took this guy seriously!! I mean, I ended up buying a 1p watch and gonna sell it for 11p to some unsuspecting fool. Anyone want to buy a watch?
Those Chinese Tourbillion watches are proof that the most of the Swiss are overpricing their watches way too much. Watching their rate of progress in a short period, one can only assume it's only a matter of time before the Chinese watches reach the same level of the Swiss while maintaining reasonable prices.
Definitely artificially overpriced just like luxury hand bags. If they were honest, the steel automatics would go for 300 to 400 dollars like the best Rolex clones do in China
As a Chinese I can confirm that those Chinese watches almost always come with many catches. But I can also confirm that they’ll slowly get better and better and establish a position in watchmaking alongside with the Swiss and the Japanese. Not yet though
Chinese products are often cheap because they copy existing products and don't have to do r&d. I doubt they will reach the 'same' level of quality of some of the best swiss watchmakers, as they are handmade and at that level, you're paying for craftsmanship, materials and pedigree as well.
I actually have quite a few Chinese watches, ranging from €50 to €4000 - and the thing is, as soon as the quality approaches that of Swiss products, the price also increases significantly. This is especially true for the extremely expensive complications, like minute repeaters and gyrotourbillons, which Sea-Gull indeed manufactures. For instance, the Sea-Gull 1963 is available for €150, but if you want it from the original Sea-Gull manufacturer with better craftsmanship, it costs between €300 and €500. If you're looking for truly high-quality Chinese watches, they are unfortunately not as affordable as one might hope. However, I must stress that there are many excellent Chinese quality watches - they just tend to be more expensive than you might initially think.
I can remember, being over 50, when Seiko watches were considered cheap knock-offs if Swiss watches. Now Seiko has watch collections that are priced way beyond I ever thought they would. Now Chinese watches are doing the same but better.
I think the best "cheap" watch for the money is a Sea-Gull 1963, Manual wind chronograph with a 60 year old proven Venus design. Fantastically good looking. Beautiful to look at from either side!
Loved the humor, with near spit takes when you mentioned "period-correct surgical-grade wood" and later, "This is the kind of watch you give to your enemy, not your friend, in the hope that strap comes with a helping of flesh-eating bacteria." Brilliant!
Andrew you have outdone yourself. Your AMW classic comments had me rolling on the floor. Your list is indeed a true value to those on a budget and your comments are rich and exquisite in the most entertaining of twisted ways. THANK YOU!
I am so glad these guys have really put alot of effort into watches designed for the more common folk and showcase them with such enthusiasm and aren’t about the snobbery!
The Citizen is such a better deal than the MoonSwatch! I've never even thought of that before. Incredible!!! If I had to spend $300 on a watch, it's going to be the automatic in stainless steel.
Yeah you can buy many speedmaster homages that have sapphire crystal, stainless steel construction, and a mechaquartz movement for less than half the price of a moonswatch. Why on earth would anyone buy that plastic garbage.
Exactly I bought the Citizen Tsuyosa last month and I'm happy about my purchase, Definitely a better rapport between the quality and the price than the moon's watch
@@robertposteschild2353 I have to confess that, largely on the testimony of Jody over at Just One More Watch, I shelled out the 80 clams to join Team Pagani. I'm honestly quite impressed with it, as is my coworker who compared it to the Omega Speedmaster on his wrist and said something along the lines of "You know, this ain't half bad!' I'll never have the disposable income for something in the Omega's price range (heck, only reason I have a Navi is I inherited it; most everything else in the drawer is either Timex or Casio 🙂 ) and as long as it's not an outright forgery I think I'm just fine with a 200m stainless mecha-quartz chrono with all the styling cues for under a hundred bucks.
Many watches nice watches are available under $260 from San Martin to the Pro Diver to Casio to Pusar to Lorus to Pagani to Timex to Momentum. All of these watches are well made and will function well. I have never had an issue with any of them.
Great video, very accurate analysis. In my 4.5 years in the game as a watch collector and enthusiast, I collected a lot from amzwatch I was thinking I was able to get a blue SD but I'm not vip enough, but I'm not giving up. Hehe. Great video.
Unfortunately Seiko is declining in quality... The hourologist I go to said that the alloys they use don't last as long as they used to, and they are way too overpriced for what garbage they put out. He used to be a Seiko affiliated hourologist and decided to ditch them for all that.
Although I am new to watch collecting, I loved the narration and delivery of this. Excellent video...with lots of little subtle jokes that were intelligently delivered! Well done!
Glad to see the Invicta Pro Diver getting its due. Not a great watch, but a very good one. I've got several in my collection because they're so cheap and the variety of colors makes them more addictive than popcorn topped with butter, salt, and nicotine. Yes, they come with mineral "Flame Fusion" crystal and the dive bezel is a bit of a crapshoot in regards to how easy, challenging, or nearly impossible to use. But I still enjoy mine and wear them fairly regularly. Great video, as always.
I have a Sugess Tourbillon. It's really fun to watch. It cost me $799 and not $150,000 or a million dollars. I appreciate handcraftmanship and I'm not suggesting hand made expensive watches are not worth the prices. Add gold and the price shoots up. But if you're on a budget and you like a fun watch, Chinese tourbillon's are great fun and they keep good time. Japanese watches are fantastic also. Love watches. Love the GMT Traveller watches from Citizen. Love the satellite watches and radio controlled as they are atomic time accurate. It's all about what you can afford. And what your priorities are. Champagne taste on a beer income.
Your comment about the most precious commodity of all being time is spot on. This really resonates with me 🙌🏻☺️ I have 3 Moonswatches and they’re great. Fun and enjoyable to wear without worrying you have £6K on your wrist. I’ve put NATO’s on my Mercury and Moon and a yellow leather strap on my Neptune and they massively improve them. The Mercury is my daily work watch and I love it. Great video as ever! 💪🏻
Those Bambinoes are amazingly value! That Pateke Phillipe lookalike! Wow! I actually like their versions that have the small sub seconds as well. And there is some decent decoration on that movement- not bad at all for that sort of coin!
Thoroughly enjoyed your video and the clever quips interspersed in there were a delight. My recommended cheap finds are, 1. Timex Marlin 34mm Hand wind (It's a good timepiece for anyone who loves vintage styles and a good budget dress watch) 2. Seiko 5 SNXS79J (That is just a Rolex on budget and it sure looks gorgeous under every lighting condition) 3. Casio G-Shock (Literally, any Casio G-Shock is a good beater watch for the money)
The thing I love about the Agelocer shop website is all the typos offering to let you buy a watch coloured ‘glod’ (that took 3 attempts to defeat the spellchecker to let me type ‘glod’ and not ‘gold’) or to have a steel ‘strip’ to hold it to your wrist because a strap is so passe
I love chinese typos. I have a "waterproog resistant" not rolex submariner. It says that. On the case. Not the listing, not the manual (which speaks constantly of a cocaine mechanism somewhere in the watch). It is laser etched onto the caseback specs - 100 meters waterproog resistant.
If you're into vintage looking watches, Baltany is my pick. The 1921 Cockeyed homage watch is BEAUTIFUL in person...and its been very accurate for month since receiving it. $169.00.
I also have a Timex Expedition like the one shown. It is my goto backpacking watch. The light has come in handy. It is also the only watch I have gotten a spontaneous compliment on. A woman saw it across the bar and exclaimed, "Is that an Expedition? I love Expedition watches!" (Fun fact: I was not wearing an Expedition at the time, but a similar field watch.) I highly recommend this watch.
First time viewer and hooked by the relatable humour! Just starting out watching TH-cam watch channels and your one of the few to get a subscribe- fantastically entertaining!
Weirdly enough, the watch is described as "a simple metal watch" on the Casio website. The case being resin is only mentioned in the specifications section.
I was going to suggest the Sea-Gull 1963 but I've been beaten to it... I've got a Sugess version which my wife brought back from China, and so far it's been great. Regarding pizza, we had grape and strawberry pizza on holiday in Montenegro in the summer... just something to ponder on... 🙂
I don’t like my invicta pro diver, it broke after a month of owning it and the movement has developed a scraping crunching sound in the auto winding works with that, not keeping as good of time as it used too, I’ve only owned it for 4 months too
I use a Casio F91W every day for work in construction and construction inspection and testing. Has several scrapes and scratches and still works to this day and the practicality is awesome. I use the stopwatch and timer and at night can tell time with the backlight it is a great watch for the value.
Picked up a amzwatch's watch as my first watch last month and I’m absolutely in love with it. Perfect size, looks elegant, very comfortable. Now my only problem is holding off from buying more watches so quickly!
Lol - LOVE this video, especially the last watch (well said, Andrew - it's more of a reminder of how time is precious than anything else. Think I'll buy it for that!)
I can’t believe an Invicta Pro Diver made this list, but it is a good watch. I went Addiesdive Submariner Quartz Miyota 2115. I would love an Invicta 1953 though. I am surprised the Casio Duro wasn’t on this list! The Duro and A168 would be the best two watch collection for less than $80.
The Bulova Marine Star Series B is an amazing watch for $250, especially considering the quality of the finishing and bracelet. Some really cheap Chinese watches can be nice for the price but those are a mixed bag
The Citizen Tsuyosa is a great option. If you want a cheaper quartz equivalent, try the Casio MTP-B145D. If you want something more expensive, try the Tissot PRX.
The Chinese tourbillion is crazy awesome and for a crazy price. Also it concerns me the ga-2100 series isn’t on this list. It’s literally the coolest watch you can buy for $100.
There's any number of Casios that could make the list. Whatever your favorite G-Shock is. I don't love the look of the AE1200, but 10yr battery + 100m WR + all those timekeeping functions is great value. A lot of the Edifice line are great, too, from the EFB-108's brilliant integrated bracelet and sapphire to the 527's chronograph and internal slide-rule bezel. That said, my personal pick is the MDV-106 Duro. Solid beater dive watch for $50. I'd rather that than an Invicta.
When you realize Rolex's ballyhooed "Oyster Steel" is the same material commonly used for stadium urinal pipework, you begin to ponder the concept of "brand name value."
Tandorio, imitates historic military pieces (pilots, field and divers), Seiko diving classics, etc., stainless steel, sapphire crystal, 200M of WR the vast majority and the Cossworth engine of the horological microbrands, the Seiko NH-35. It has a luminescence that last less than than than a teenager first sexual experience, but for a prices between $60 and $80 I think it worths the shot. I have the one that homages the MoD 6b/542 produced for RAF pilots in 1953 by Omega, and and love it... :)
4:59 I've seen this watch reviewed before and after people went on a vacation. $100 sacrificial watch. And after the fact people continue to wear them because they served the purpose. I actually thought of getting one before I went to Hawaii I just didn't pull the trigger It took my Sarb017 instead.
I worked in the outdoor adventure field for years and almost everyone wears a Timex. Outdoor enthusiasts generally aren't trying to impress anyone with their watch and just want something waterproof that will keep working. Expedition is all anyone actually needs. No need to buy something expensive that you may break or lose in the mountains.
Awesome! The ham and pineapple pizza allegedly was created in Canada 🇨🇦. Apart from this minor insult, we appreciate your videos. You light up our frozen lives in tiny igloos in the Great White North. I recommend the F105A instead of the F91W. A little bigger, AND…the screen actually lights up! Otherwise it is just as cool.
"You'd tell me you're not Steven and accuse me of lying about the watch. BUT STEVEN". GODDAMNIT SOMEONE GIVE HIM AN OSCAR FOR BEST WRITING ALREADY THIS IS PURE BRILLIANCY 🤣🤣🤣
Fantastic Video!!!! And those cheap jokes mingled with first rate sarcasm makes it a classic!!!! But I would love to suggest another brand- Pagani Design. It has both mechanical and quartz watches, with prices that fluctuate from 40 to 130 USD, and produce models that are very close replicas to Rolex Explorer II, Omega Speedmaster, Patek Philippe Nautilus, Tudor diver and others. The main calibers are Seiko NH35/36 for the automatic ones, and the Seiko VK64 MechaQuartz for the chronographs. I personally own 17 of them, and love each and everyone of them!!!!
OMG!!! The level of, I'm going to say 'Wit?' and monologued banter is so worth the price of admission! First thing that has actually made me laugh out loud (not LOL, which is bullshit) in days. Keep up the amazing work!
I might not trust your reviews, but you are by far the most entertaining. I will subscribe to you so I can keep choking on my food while I eat and watch you slam watches.

Funniest place on the interweb, love to be informed & entertained at the same time, thanks!
I thank you!
I know little about watches. I'm here for the snapper banter. SUBBED!
Nice you mentioned orient they have been on my radar
This is my favorite theme for any video you've ever made.
Thank you!
I remember when you were able to buy an SKX007 for $180. I did exactly that and its at the top of my list
It´s good to see the most iconic watch voice. 🙂
"You'd tell me you're not Steven and accuse me of lying about the watch. BUT STEVEN". GODDAMNIT SOMEONE GIVE HIM AN OSCAR FOR BEST WRITING ALREADY THIS IS PURE BRILLIANCY 🤣🤣🤣
Really enjoying the writing on your recent videos! Brilliant stuff 😂
Thank you 😊
Class Mate.. Love it. Seriously. tribion.. sorry about the spelling. for under £700. I am hooked
Brilliantly written and actually made me giggle more than once
Good overview of these Andrew. The Timex is one I have.
The Seiko 5's crown is at 3:54.
Has the potential to drive me crazy.
🤷♂️
The Casio Duro, change the rubber strap for a decent metal bracelet and you look like a million dollars for a few bucks...
One of your funniest videos! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I genuinely laughed at the Star Wars reference, great episode, liked and subscribed
I stumbled on this vid randomly and the writing just got me amused and well informed 😅🤣👌 New subsriber instantly
Great video. And the one liners just get better 😂
