I actually have this every single morning before I go to college. Just 1/2 cup of rolled oatmeal, 1/2 cup of skim milk, and a bit of honey... and a boiled egg. You know, college student on a tight budget :)

Bircher Müsli usually has shredded apple in it... I also like a little bit of cinnamon with it. Cool thing is, you can make a lot more and have it every morning with different fruits and nuts. So simple, so good!

Actually since I'm Swiss i grew up with Bircher Müesli. In this recipe something incredible important is missing: The grated apple! You have to add it to the Bircher Müesli, it's giving the Müesli its significant taste and texture.

I've done overnight oats a couple of times, and loved it every time I did it. I want to make it a habit to do this after seeing this video. I always have oats around anyway because I like making oatmeal.

I had hot oats with vanilla rice milk this morning. I like to cook a banana in with the oats. Brings out the sweetness of the banana and if you're trying to save money and don't wanna be buying oats all the time it creates the illusion of having more oats in your bowl. Chia seeds do that too but I make chia pudding to take with me on work days so I try to save my chia seeds for that. I cook the oats, milk, and banana together and then I add whatever toppings I want. Today it was raspberries that I warmed up, granola, and pecans. When I mixed it all together it was like pink dessert in a bowl. I did add a little bit of stevia but not nearly as much as I would have if I hadn't cooked the banana or the raspberries.

I first tasted a version of this type of "oat" preparation years ago at a hotel in London. I had never had "cold" oats before and I was just blown away by the flavor. It has since become a staple in my Texas home and my family just loves it. I throw everything I feel like in mine. Honey, bananas, yogurt, dried cherries....blah, blah, blah. It is so versatile and delicious. I am so happy that I tried it all those years back!!! Thanks for this video and reminding me how wonderful and healthy this dish is. As if I need reminding. I also throw chopped almonds on top sometimes.......

Aren't all these mueslis, porridges and smoothies the same but with different ratios and ways of preparing the ingredients? I think that's kinda nice though. Knowing you can just mix and match to your liking. You can go from a hot breakfast like porridge to an ice cold smoothie with frozen fruit that would otherwise go bad. Turn the smoothies into frozen popsicles if you've made too much. So many options. I'm inspired to go shop and do some experimenting today

That looks delicious! I love oatmeal, and usually cook it first thing in the morning with a small spoonful of dark brown sugar, a couple pinches of quatre épices/allspice, and a tiny pinch of salt. Sometimes, I'll add some cooked apple and cinnamon to it. I make enough for my 17-month-old and I to share, and he loves it. I bet he'd love this recipe, too, although I'm not sure he can handle the pumpkin seeds just yet.

I tried this and I have to say, I'm not a fan of overnight muesli. I don't think the soaking breaks down the oats enough. At least not for my taste. I opt for Jamie's porridge method with pre made muesli and it comes out delicious! Plus if you have dried fruit in the muesli, it will reconstitute and sweeten the porridge. Delicious!

The phrase Bircher Muesli brings back mass breakfast mis-en-plas days in my previous pastry chef life... This is a lovely version without the yogurt and shredded apple, which is coincidentally almost identical to my current favourite breakfast, I soak the mixture overnight and then warm it up in the morning, so I have a steaming bowl of goodness which warms me up and keeps me going for the whole morning. Love oats!

So I watched this and I really really wanted to like it.... but I honestly didn't think I would, haha. I've never liked oatmeal and it seemed pretty similar, but I wanted to try it anyway. So I went out and bought some oats. I used vanilla almond milk, dark chia seeds, bee pollen granules, pure natural syrup, and pure vanilla extract. When I took it out of the fridge this morning I was so skeptical but oh. My. Gosh!! It tastes SOOO good!!! I added apples pieces and cinnamon on the top and drizzled it with some heated syrup. I can't believe how much I like this stuff! It's amazing!! Thank you so much for broadening my breakfast palette! ;o)

I love popped cereals, like spelt or amaranth which are both not too expensive and I get them in a health store.
You can usually get them either sweetened or natural, but I like it slightly sweetened with honey. I like to add a little dark chocolate shavings, fresh or dried fruit or nuts to my liking and depending on what I have at home.
I do use regular milk though, I just haven't found my cereal milk :P
Sometimes I also eat fresh whole grain bread with a natural nut butter.

I tried this muesli with oats, raisins, almonds and a pinch of cinnamon and after a night in the fridge the raisins were soaked up and the whole muesli tasted amazingly sweet. The sweetnes from the raisins is a lot healthier than sugar or even the maple syrup, so maybe that's an even better alternative for you :)

I like the recipe very much.
What i dislike is that she is not telling the truth.
She's not taking the almond milk because of "it adds a bit of extra proteins - like she says at 01:46 ", pretty much saying that it has more "bit extra" than normal milk. Well, cowmilk has about 3,4g/100g and almondmilk has just only 0,3g/100g. So cow milk adds 3times more Protein than Almondmilk.
So either she's lying, which I don't think, but the question is, why would you make such a false statement?
If you are vegan, be it.
But don't bs us with wrong numbers.
    sincerely, the internets know-it-alls.

Great breakfast, thanks! Iwould like to recommend using Date Honey instead of maple syrup (the original maple syrup is not easy to find in some countries...). Just make sure to buy the 100% date honey, organic, not the sugary substitute... Date honey is also known as "Silan".

Can this be served warm too? How would you warm it up if not suing a microwave? Nevertheless I really love this thank you!!! You've given me a new idea to turn my usual brekky into something even yummier and heartier.
For over a year I have been making for myself chia seeds soaked in almond-coconut milk with goji berries, other seeds like pepitas or sunflower and walnuts or granola on top sometimes with dates..I usualy put it in a reused jamjar and take it with me to work. I just chuck in whatever seeds, fruits and granola I have really. But I love rolled oats and I love vanilla and cinnamon, zest and fresh fruit on top too so I will try this. Thank you!

i been using instant oats (really dunno the differences between regular and instant) + water/milk, then drop in whatever i have on hand... microwave for 3 mins, done :)
oh, stir in a cup of yogurt from fridge, it won't be so hot and ready to eat when mixed!
i'll search for chia seeds and def give it a try, sounds like a healthier choice than mystery protein powders. thx fer sharing!

Thanks so much for watching Robert. Instant oats are basicially oats which has been processed a bit more so they cook quicker, they are more powdery and you don't get as much wholegrain goodness but they are still a great way to start the day. Anna
