On the marathon topic, the race fee was a huge part of why I trained for my half marathon. I can’t count the number of times I’ve said “I can just go running for free,” but it wasn’t until I put money down and registered for a race that I actually did a full training program.
Congratulations! Half marathons are the gateway to marathons and ultras. I just ran 3 (full) marathons in 3 days and it was an amazing and challenging experience.
A marathon is like joining another community. I say it is worth it because everyone can choose to join the community. The best part for me (I never ran more than a 25k) is the training. The journey is the best part.

I live in a rural area. No door dash or Uber eats, so no temptation there. I drink well water, and it tastes great and I have it tested every couple of years. So far, it's very clean. We can do grocery store pickup, but I've watched the people filling orders, and they just grab the fruits, vegetables, and meat regardless of how they look. For those items, I want to pick out my own, so I go grocery shopping. Might be a control freak. 🤔
For some people the convenience is worth it, but for an empty nest household, I would rather pick out my items too, Also, sometimes I will find bargain/clearance items that also save me money.
I agree with you. Rural living will save you money in a lot of ways. Also that anytime I want to buy something I usually change my mind when I factor in the inconvenience of driving to town to get it.
I go to Krogers or Aldi for allll my produce needs. But I hardly ever (98.4 percent of the time) will pay full price. I am a huge “sticker person “ fanatic at Krogers and I will load up on Tuesday afternoon or Friday night on the recently marked down produce. Whatever I can’t use immediately I freeze, can, or dehydrate and then I have extras if I need to add volume to a meal. 😊I can get out of there for 50 bucks if I stay away from the processed aisles. Produce and meat for 5 for two weeks. ❤
George, I would recommend NOT flying with an expensive stroller. Maybe the more expensive ones are more durable, but baggage handlers and cargo storage on planes are not kind to strollers.
As a lash artist who built an entire very successful business based around eyelash lift/tint & extensions I can confirm that to many women lashes are an absolute necessity, however I do hear from many of my clients that the men in their lives feel otherwise 😂

If I continually got lash extensions/fake lashes applied I would be a very happy person lol I’ve never done it because I don’t want the glue to cause irritation and make my eyelashes to fall out even more
If you have the money I think lawn care is a great purchase. It gives someone a way to work and make money. Also the person paying for the service frees up their time for other things they enjoy or need to do. Don’t judge those that get it though. It could be a single mother or someone disabled or someone with limited time and that’s one thing they don’t wanna spend their time doing, which is fine.
Even if she did grow up rich I’d still take Rachel’s advice over the others that are out there who are schilling and peddling their product lines and cookbooks. Take money advice from rich people.
I got it free with my FPU membership and I've been using EveryDollar since April. I graduated in March and never thought of budgeting, but I caught myself overspending shortly before graduation, so I decided to start doing it and haven't stopped since.
Marathons! My sister and i planned to do a Disney half marathon, but when the tickets went on sale.we decided that almost $300 per person for the privilege of starting at the Disney gate was ridiculous. Especially since the fee did not include any perks or discounts for the park.
There is so much more to running an organized marathon than biting a medal and taking a picture. It's about commitment, support, a sense of community, and so much more. What a simplistic explanation and judgment about a thing you have no idea about! 🙄
I love this! I will say I use my kitchenaid mixer at least two days a week - but I am a homemaker and use it to knead bread dough as I make all our bread myself. Definitely not a necessity for most kitchens, though!
Rich or poor, buying a bottled water to drink on everyday basis is seriously ridiculous. I understand filters. I have one too. Nothing fancy just Brita on my faucet. We even bring our filter container when tent camping or on our vacation and using their top water ( of course the drinkable one) . Overbuying a grocery is another common thing. So many people waisting their food and their money by over buying food they never consume!
Unfortunately Brita doesn't work for hard water and no matter how much I tried to drink it my kidneys rebel after a couple of days. However I am not into throwing $4k in for a softener so I go to the local grocery store and pay 45 cents pe gallon of reverse osmosis water
I fully/completely/100% respect Rachel defending her middle class status. I grew up a similar way. My moms business is worth a lot of money and she has been highly successful and good with managing her money! I was born in 1992 and my mom adopted/got me in 1994 from India. My dad left us in 1995 and completely drained/robbed all their bank accounts leaving us with her $300 check per week. I grew up middle class! And just because your parents are one way doesn’t mean that’s where you are. Your parents income/success doesn’t define you!!

My husband won so many things at an office giveaway. One item included a flat-top grill that we use ALL the time. Sometimes giveaways are 1000% worth it :)
It's not just the marathon fees and equipment (shoes, clothes, gels, training plan...) it's also a lot of fees for out of town races like the hotel fee, food, transportation, and even time off work if you don't get PTO.
We call it “buying time” when we pay for a service. We can’t do it all! Walmart grocery delivery through their app is the best because I don’t think they mark up the cost.
George, as an Arabic man with beautiful dark lashes you have NO idea what it’s like to be a German Irish woman with extremely blonde lashes. I will pay to get my lashes tinted any day and it is worth it 😂.

A lifted truck comes in handy in rough terrain situations or if there is a flood I know you joked about that but where I live we get floods quite often and it would be really nice to have a lifted truck you're not to mention I'm pretty sure lifted vehicles are safer. Therapy may or may not be cheaper but reading the Bible is free and that will clear a lot of things up. There are obviously the regular Splurge purchases you get on a regular basis that aren't that expensive individually but then there are the bigger splurges like you guys mentioned about Taylor Swift tickets or lifted truck you don't make those purchases on a regular basis like cosmetics
Papa Dave should definitely be springing for that fancy stroller George. Give like no one else right?!?! 😂 Feel free to screenshot and email him this comment as a hint 😅
George and Rachel, I’m a big follower of your show. One thing you mention is looking finances as a married couple. What if my partner has priorities in a more expensive car than I do? Should we just pool finances for essentials (mortgage, insurance, food, vacation etc) and have the remainder go to our personal spending (clothes, car, miscellaneous)? Or should we include the more expensive car in the budget, because I make a good deal more than my partner?
Daily smoothies for the fam of four, every morning in our Vitamix!!! Then like blender healthy oat muffins/oven pancakes etc. in it. Use 1-3 times daily. Going strong for 7 years now. Best money spent!! 🙌
Uppababy is great to buy used. We have one that is 12 years old now and has gone through seven kids - three for the previous owner and four for us. Those strollers are tanks - and we only paid $200 for ours used
I used to pay for trash can cleaning when I lived in Dallas and my HOA forced you to keep your cans inside so with my dog’s waste going in there and the heat of summer, it was definitely worth the $25 a month I paid for it!

I’m married without a Kitchen Aid Mixer, George. 😊 Never could afford one of those. Still have my hand mixer from when I got married 28 years ago that I was given off my registry.
Same here. Married 21 years without a KitchenAid mixer. It’s never been a high priority. My Black and Decker stand mixer from my bridal shower still works too. 👌
I didn’t know the mosquito spray built into the backyard was a thing. Now I have something else I want to add to future dream home. I get pulverized by mosquitoes they love me and I end up looking like I have chicken pox so that seems like a necessity.😅😂
After burning up three hand mixers over 25 years, I splurged and bought a Kitchen aide artisan stand mixer. Not the cheap mass produced, nor the top end pro models, but still pricey by my standards. I use that thing regularly! Every day mixing, saves me so much time! Pizza dough is so much better made fresh, and cheaper. If I bought that instead of those hand mixers all those years ago, the mixer would have leveled up a long time ago 😀
Umbrella strolls are called that because they kinda look like an umbrella when folded up, not because they have a cover over them (although some do) :)
George- get a Sodastream for your sparkling water habit! It’s a bit of an investment up front… I think ours was $80 or so BUT we save so much in the long run and better for the environment since we don’t have a million cans.
Hahaha I can relate to this marathon cost. $100 for every race fee, $150 flight, $250 hotel, food when there, $140 running shoes that have to be replaced multiple times a year, PT for the injuries. It is not a free hobby 😂
If you want food delivery and don't have a ton of extra. Walmart plus is 13 a month get your food delivered, no mark up. Just tip your driver. So maybe 30 bucks a month and you don't have to go to the store and deal w/ walmart
I use my kitchenaid mixer weekly if not daily. I got mine as a hand me down from my sister who found 2 at goodwill and gave me one. They last a long time even with heavy use. I would say it's the "uppa stroller" of the small appliance world. I think its totally worth the price IF you cook or bake regularly. If you don't cook or don't enjoy cooking, don't buy it for looks. But if it's going to be used it's totally worth it!
I grew up in an area with very clean city water. I can’t stand the taste of the tap water in Atlanta because it tastes so much of the chlorine and requires half a lemon per glass to be tolerable. I buy Fiji/Evian water at Costco, but I don’t drink coffee outside of the home or soda/alcohol anywhere. Alcohol is expensive and even a little bit makes me feel like crap.
I had 4 minivans over the years. Then I decided to get a 4runner and get into off-roading. I have seen the most gorgeous places on earth now, but I needed a lift on my truck to safely get there. But I had my finances set before doing this.

In both the short and long run, a bear and bullish market provides equal avenue to amass good gains I've seen people make 6figures profit as high as $200k in a bear market and I've seen them pull it off much easily in a bull market, it all comes down to having the right information and applying it.
well politicians for certain are gaining off the crash, and true the average individual could profit off a crash but such high-grade investing come with equal risk which can only be managed by a proper pro or expert.
I've actually been thinking of reaching a portfolio-adviser, my 401k and stocks been losing everything it's gained since 2022, mind if I looked-up this one coach you use?
Growing up, I would drink the tap water in our city, it was actually fairly decent. I live in the same city now, and when you turn on the sink, you can smell the chlorine. They started adding chlorine to "kill" all of the contaminants in the water. I'm not drinking that and filters don't work on it. So it's bottled water for me!
I really don't totally understand why people are against new cars. Out of all of these things this makes the most sense. Especially these days, cars have changed so much. So many safety features. Wouldn't you want your kids in something safe and reliable? Your gambling with a five year old car.
When you have a lot of money buying time I think is the best thing that you can spend money on. At a smaller level that is buying lawn care, having groceries delivered, house cleaning services. Mark cuban bought a private jet to save time that cost $40,000,000 and he doesn't regret it because it saves time. It only cost 1% of his net worth.

@@EmilyWer2 I didn’t catch that. Don’t let George see that! Haha! Drives him nuts. 🫣

But you are also racing in a group so there is extra motivation via the competition aspect.
❤ You're actually investing on yourself
A marathon is like joining another community. I say it is worth it because everyone can choose to join the community. The best part for me (I never ran more than a 25k) is the training. The journey is the best part.
@traybern the marathon organizer has police and medical support along the race. There are reasons it is something you pay for to do more safely.
Point being, when you are completely out of debt, have a fully funded emergency fund... you then have the ability to choose the luxuries you want.
No you don't.
I'd like a yacht, private jet and helicopter but still can't get them despite earning a high salary.
@@15KHPCLUB LOL. Well they seem to mean "inexpensive" luxuries...
@@15KHPCLUBYes, it has to be within your budget
Be sure to have a chunk in retirement too.
@@15KHPCLUB well if that's what you really want- better figure out a way to pay for it once you are Out of Debt. It's Basic math skills, a mindset of sacrifice for what you want, and the drive and determination to make it happen.
Wow....sad that they feel they need this.
@@breezybre2670 not sad for me. I built my business around it. The beauty industry is a billion dollar industry and I’m happy to work for my tiny sliver of the pie within the field. Everyone has a choice about what type of enhancements they want to get/invest in. I never push women to change anything about their looks- but if they decide to on their own and book an appointment I will be happy to provide the service !
I love a brow and lash tint for vacation! I didn't love the lash lift, though, and it's hard to find someone who will just do a lash tint.
@@olivias2836I have very fair skin w natural light brown reddish hair. I had an OCD issue where I would rub my eyelashes if they had mascara on them and it would cause them to fall out. Even before I had that issue my lashes were very light and unable to see while I also have very big eyes. Makeup and mascara literally make me look so different. If I continually got lash extensions/fake lashes applied I would be a very happy person lol I’ve never done it because I don’t want the glue to cause irritation and make my eyelashes to fall out even more
It's great for you but so pathetic that people think it's a necessity.
“You’re someone who would be apt to get a lifted truck.” I cannot 😂 and “low-rided based on my height alone.” 💀
I LOVE Rachel and George. So sweet and humble, down to earth with common sense!
I love Rachel and George, and I have 3 daughters, 13, 11, and 9. They are all about this show!
The Kitchen Aid mixer is our go to wedding gift for the young adults in our church.
Worth every penny! I bought mine in 2010 as a gift to myself. To this day, one of my best purchases and still looks new and works like the day I bought it!! Quality product!
Dang y'all must be on BS7 😅
It’s great love mine
Wow, that’s generous!
Okay, 1st off Lindsey calling you out on the "fruit carvings" and then the tattoo story....I'm in tears😂
Rachel, George, Lindsey, great job, great show!! Humor, common sense advise, great personalities and cocktails. Love this show!!
Tbh, the trash can cleaning is worth it every so often. Especially in FL because of all the bugs!! I’m here for it.
That's creepy.
@@truthseeker6370 How is that creepy?
It's called masacara
You can look at this show and appreciate it while you are in the “rice and beans” stage of your Ramsey financial reformation if your are intense about your challenge to become debt free. Attitude is everything! Thanks again for all your hard work to help educate those who a striving to make that change.
I listened to this at 3:00a.m. when I couldn't sleep. I laughed and woke up my husband! You guys are so funny! And Rachel, I have my groceries delivered too! So convenient!
I think paying a annual credit card fee is ridiculous
😮 Do people still do that? Why? Make it make sense.
George, after 4 kids i can say cheaper strollers they will also last just as long. Baby jogger is a great brand. But they’re all fine !
When I heard George talking about the robot delivering food in the Hibachi restaurant, all I could think is he is now George Jetson😂
😂😂😂”omg my dads a billionaire “ dying - stand up for yourself Rachel! ❤❤
Lifted truck, IF the suspension is ALSO lifted, is to get over obstacles. In my area it’s to go bouldering and get over the snow embarkments
It's called an umbrella stroller because of the handles. They don't always have a top.
Your show's not only educative but very interesting - I enjoy it all the way from Ghana.
Im a respiratory therapist and I'm the one measuring the oxygen in the air! Lol! I really do use oxygen analyzers at work to measure the blended gases I deliver to patients through ventilators or other oxygen devices. So yes it's a real thing George 😂
Yes but it is going to improve your health by going to an oxygen bar?
@@blissfuljoy6049absolutely not
I have a patient asking me why she has to put the oxygen in her nose when she can just breathe the air haha
@@blissfuljoy6049you improve the oxygen intake, your body is using what it needs, meanwhile you're destroying your liver
George: Marathons...
Me: Laughs in Ironman...
I didn’t know the mosquito spray built into the backyard was a thing. Now I have something else I want to add to future dream home. I get pulverized by mosquitoes they love me and I end up looking like I have chicken pox so that seems like a necessity.😅😂
Try the Cutter backyard bug control spray.
Lasts all summer.
I use my kitchenaide mixer all the time! Its great for shredding cooked meat, cookies, kneading bread dough, mashing large batches of potatoes
..how does it shred meat? This would be awesome.
Yes and you save a lot of money cooking from scratch!
@@breezybre2670just put a cooked chicken breast in there and it shreds it.
Are you a Marathon Maniac?
I love “if nobody else sees this purchase, so I still want it”
If you want food delivery and don't have a ton of extra.
New this show and it’s becoming one of my favorites!
I had 4 minivans over the years. Then I decided to get a 4runner and get into off-roading. I have seen the most gorgeous places on earth now, but I needed a lift on my truck to safely get there. But I had my finances set before doing this.
Since I started the Ramsey Plan 3 yrs. ago I just ask myself if this is a want or need & surprisingly it is usually a want!
Great show y'all!!! Love the show, love the topics, you both bring joy to the world with your show. Funny and some money tips tossed in can't wait until next week! Keep up the Awesome work y'all!!!
I saw George’s reel where his dogs were playing in his backyard. He needs to hire new guys to mow his yard if he’s having to pay for that. They be slippin’ 😂
My bob runs circles around the uppababy, but we also live in an outdoor area and gravel is everywhere.
Dont spray for mosquitos. Kills bees and monarchs and other beneficial insects which are rapidly disapearing. There are other waya to conroll mosquitos that dont involve killing everything else in your area.
Confession: I’ve been over paying at the Vet but they are so nice & they put up with my high maintenance dog mom ways. 😅
Also, (so far) Pet Insurance has not been worth it for preventative care. 👎
The advisor I use is Yuval Eric Brokman, he's actually quite known, so you could just search him.
Google his name,
Yuval Eric Brokman
Marathons! I’m there. 😂 that’s my thing.
Super fun to watch! Thank you!
The skateboard thing on the Uppababy is perfect on our smaller, cheaper Uppababy Cruz. 1yo in the stroller, 3yo loves the “skateboard”.
Ouch, I got called out with the Marathons! Those do get real expensive!
8:50 He's conflating something that is clearly made up (oxygen cures hqngover or whatever) with a well-known fact (air is 21% oxygen). I'm not sure if he's joking or not but very funny either way. 😂
Love these weekly shows!! One of the highlights of my week!
I have a storage unit but only because I am in a not great living situation and don't have anywhere else to put my belongings... people hate on the units until they need them
I love these episodes. Y’all are so funny😂 and informative.
As a kid, playing outside in the 1950s we drank water from the garden hose. Nobody wanted to leave the action to go inside.
My wife and I just had our first child. We were blessed by some family and friends with Uber eats and door dash gifts cards and the food delivery has been awesome during these first few weeks being home with baby! Otherwise I agree it’s to expensive to justify 😂
I'm used to walmart, Kroger IS the fancy grocery store.
I shop both. Kroger actually has better deals on soda and frozen foods… WM has better prices on produce.
