Great to hear Rachel say her starting salary. It wasn't 6 figures from the start like people assume. They always ask callers, so seem fair to be transparent about what income they had to start the baby steps. Debt to income ratio helps put things in perspective regarding timeline.
What she failed to disclose is she had help from Dave getting her first house and her income has risen dramatically since that time. She lives in a house worth $4.7MM. If she follows the Ramsey principles of a mortgage no more than 15% of take home pay either she and Winston and making big money or she had help with her first house and got a big jump on equity to trade up to this.
But I always thought it was "come on Eileen" 😂 not Irene! 9:44

Diego Rivera was amazing. He was married to Frida Kahlo and she was a fabulous artist as well. The buyer likely hung the art in his multimillion dollar home. People don't usually say they have a 2 million dollar painting; they say they have a Diego Rivera.

Great episode! I’d just add that when you give to someone who may or may not be homeless do it from your heart. Don’t worry about what they do with what you give. Let god sort that out. Giving shouldn’t be contingent on the other persons motives. ❤️

@@chemquests it is surprising that someone wouldn’t be familiar with Frida Kahlo. She is one of the most famous artists of all time and definitely top 5 for female artists. Salma Hayek played her in the movie. Which I’ve never seen, again, I’m not a big art person. Any google search of famous artists will turn up Kahlo, so yes, very surprising.

Diego Rivera was Frida Khalo's husband! He died in 1957
The baby steps was the beginning for our family. I was 30 immature, married, and in debt. Getting out of debt taught us how to do something hard. We just kept doing harder things. It’s been 7 years now, and in the past 4 years we’ve opened 3 businesses, had 3 kids, and increased our income by 4x. Take home pay will be around $700k this year. This all started from doing hard things like following the baby steps and committing to my family to manage all that earn and are given.
I'm constantly amazed when I enter a gas station store and see the people who clearly don't have 2 pennies to rub together, in there buying lottery tickets. Makes me sad.
The inheritance bit is funny because my wealthy great great aunt left her money to the aging donkey society and the jockey club of England (she didn’t even live in England) and her only living relatives her great nephews were livid
Follow the Baby Steps in the order they were written and keep saving/investing when you reach Step 7 and you'll slowly but surely become a millionaire.

Basically what happened with GameStop is that redditors realized that GameStop stock was being heavily shorted meaning the investors thought it was worthless, so they “borrowed” shares of stock from other people, and sold it with the hopes that the price would drop so they could buy it back at a lower price so they could pocket the difference in value before giving the stock back to the owners they borrowed it from.
So redditors realized that this is a way for the 1% to make a Boatload of money and they decided to collectively inflate the value so there was no difference or even a negative difference (meaning investors would have to foot the bill to buy back the stock at a higher price than what they sold it for)
It became a huge thing!
I have won the lottery and been on an airplane hit by lightning. Neither changed my life.

@1:35 - Hundreds of thousands of nights to make millionaire status? That’s not a good sell for the Ramsey Solutions, considering 100,000 nights is over 273 years. I know it’s a joke but ouch! Their plan is slow & steady, so you can eventually make it if you stay consistent but it’s more decades than centuries. 😂

Even most legitimate charity organizations are either doing bad things outright or the money doesn't go anywhere. This is a big problem particularly for Christians who are well intentioned

I agree with George, give panhandlers the meal. I gave one fresh vegetables from my garden, found the food in the trash. Another guy panhandling outside the local shopping center - sign said would work for food - a couple times I gave him a hamburger and soda. I then offered him work for money. He had every excuse. A week later, I saw him with his very well dressed family buying high end foods, and get into an expensive nice vehicle. I only offer up food now.
Can confirm a lotto winner dropped by our office and spent over half their $1Million winnings on a car for them and their girlfriend. Most people have no concept of how to spend that much money.
And my old gym trainer told me his friends parents won the euro lotto, they took the money and stuck it in the bank and didn’t change their lives. However their son is going around spending money he doesn’t have, telling everyone he will pay them back later.
Only spend what you can afford, and don’t try to spend other people’s money.
It would be interesting to see these two do an uncensored happy hour talking about the raunchy side of money
The story about the waitress that got $500k sounds familiar. I think that real life story was the inspiration of a Jack Nicholson & Helen Hunt movie.
The older man had OCD and only wanted the same waitress to serve him. He paid for her son medical treatment so she won’t miss any time off work to care for her son. Because he only wanted her to serve him.

This past Christmas I bought a bunch of $20 supermarket gift cards to give to people in road medians, and other places, asking for help. if they are scamming, then I only lost $20 or maybe I helped some kids eat
