I'm in the rare group that doesn't like coffee and rarely has caffeine, but I would so watch an episode of George making coffee at his home with all his coffee making trinkets! 🥰
A few of us at work brought a cheap coffee pot and take turns buying a big container of coffee at Sam’s. We make a pot of coffee every morning to share. We each only have to buy the coffee one or two times a year. Our work doesn’t have “free coffee” so we started it on our own. It’s so cheap!
9:56 Rachel: “I can’t tell the difference” (good quality coffee vs Keurig) George: “That’s honest, and that’s the most I can ask of you today since I can’t get class” Everyone: bursts out in laughter That clip had me rolling lol 😆
Sometimes I don’t agree with their opinions but I think George is hilarious. Like he actually has really good comedic timing & I enjoy watching this podcast 😊
Rachel, you need an ember mug! I threw out all my mugs when I got one cause’ I don’t want to drink my coffee or tea without it. It keeps the temperature of your coffee until you’re done drinking it so you don’t waste the last quarter of it! It’ll change your life! ❤️
Lol. When I went for my bone density test one of the questions was how much coffee a day and I asked the nurse how many cups was in 2-3 pots and she said just put a lot 😂😂
Guys thanks so much for choosing the Thursday morning release. All my other podcasts come out Friday-Sunday so this really is the “happy hour” to kick off my weekend!
You guys were a blast to watch today. I drink maybe 1-4 cups of coffee A YEAR! Because of George I now know coffee lovers have their own language. I don't buy individual drinks in bottles, like water or soda either. I drink tap water and tea and rarely anything else. So I wasn't able to save money here during my debt snowball.
OMGoodness, George has to do a Stand Up gig and let us all know so we can support him. He is hilarious!!! These two have such a great chemistry! Its two best friends letting us sit in on their hangout. Love it!!
Don’t you hate when you have something amazing like that in a place you will probably never visit again? We had some amazing coffee drinks at the Creation Museum Coffee Cafe, a couple years ago and my family is still talking about them. We may go there again, but not anytime soon.
This was, by far, the funniest episode to date. I actually had to start it over and sit and watch because there were lul's in the conversation and I just KNEW that Rachel was laughing and couldn't talk. So fun! And thanks for the break down at the end ... I've been curious to try Celcius but never took the plunge - I'm not a sweet fruity type person so picking drinks is very hard for me.
What a great episode! Thank you for pouring into your listeners weekly. We can tell that you are grinding through research to make sure it’s a smooth episode! Y’all always press into issues that are brewing in my mind. It’s a great pick me up listening to this podcast…even when you’re roasting each other. ….. expresso
I bought a Breville Espresso Touch early this year. I work from home and the fact that I can get quality coffee every morning without having to drive to the coffee shop is so worth the splurge. The quality is waaaay better than any Keurig or Nespresso. I also get the freshly roasted beans from our local roaster. I don’t buy expensive bags or shoes but I cannot live without great coffee. “Spend extravagantly on the things you love, and cut costs mercilessly on the things you don't.”
1 cup a day, good grass fed cream, or coconut milk if you're actually allergic to dairy, and pure sugar/honey/coconut sugar ~ more supportive to your body nutritionally than just black! $2000 a year for coffee is insane 😵 I got a Nespresso machine for Christmas and I love it so much more than keureg!! And now I'm not spending $6 a day on espresso 😅
I have a Keurig: bought it for my work office right when I was out of college. 6 years later and she still works. I’ve never had a delightful cup from a Keurig (I have 2 refillable filters) regardless of how good the coffee is. The French Press makes great coffee if you have a source of already hot water (we have machines at work). I have been given a Mr. Coffee and a ninja, both which have the metal filters and these both make good coffee, way better than the Keurig coffee every time.I grew up with a Bunn and that’s what we have at work. The coffee is free at work and that’s what I usually drink. Some gas stations have new grind and brew machines that make an excellent cup of coffee for less than $2 (plus you can get a “refill” price! ) I would say overall, I probably spend about $200/year on coffee. I don’t think this is a bad number, considering I don’t drink alcohol or soda.
Go George! Enjoyed hearing about all your coffee equipment! I love a good pour-over or cold brew using Kirkland or Julian's Peru coffee beans from Costco. I never drank coffee until about 2 years ago (I'm in my 40s) because my parents and grandparents drank folgers or instant coffee. I had no idea coffee could be so delicious! I really enjoyed this episode!! Keep them coming.
I'm not a coffee snob but I do import my favorite instant coffee and tea from Malaysia (30 packets cost $7 on Amazon - $84/yr). It tastes smoother because it's made with brown sugar. Hot drinks have the reverse effect on me - they calm me down and I get no energy buzz. When I order coffee away from home, it's just "coffee, light cream and sugar". I used to work at Starbucks where we got free coffee and I hardly ever drank it during my shift, or took free bags home.
I am loving this episode! My husband doesn’t drink coffee, actually can’t stand it. *somehow he graduated pharmacy school without a drop! But, how many coffee machines do I have? 2! I have an espresso machine, and a ninja coffee bar. I save so much money making my lattes at home. I love coffee! Couldn’t live without it!
I used to be a straight black coffee drinker, cuz I really just like the flavor of good coffee, but I read recent news on how a splash of milk greatly increases the health benefits by making more of the nutritional goodness of coffee available to your system.
I work from home, and spend about $6.50/M-F on coffee. Why? I am more productive when I work from a coffee shop and am around people. It gets me out of bed, and I am around others who are also working. I received two promotions (~18%) this year alone, so I see the ~$120/month I spend on coffee to be a small expense to keep me set up for success. It's not the drink itself, it's the environment and routines that I am paying for.
WoW! First time viewer of this show on TH-cam but almost 2 years listener of The Ramsey Show podcast. I like Smart money happy hour and seeing George and Rachel having fun AND talking coffee/caffeine/budget made my day! I just admit I was team EXPRESSO until today!!🤦♂️🤦♂️🫣🫣 but now I stand corrected ! 😂😂Would you guys accept a French speaking Canadian from Quebec on team Espresso Team ? 🙏🙏 Very fun show !
"There is so much condescension and pretention in this episode...." LOL! When asked if I drink coffee, I used to say, "I have to say no, because I order decaf lattes with alternate milk options, and I don't think that counts." Now, I make an iced Americano with soy milk everyday at home. Does that count as a coffee drinker? :D Thanks for the hilarious episode!!!
Make my own cold brew in a french press. Drink it with whole Fairlife milk. I prefer it over getting coffee out now, but if the boss is buying, I get a cold brew with cold foam. Done and saving monies.
I am totally with you George on all the coffee equipment. I use all those as well! Black coffee all day everyday. Budget hack, I have a little thermos that I make coffee and home and take in so I don’t need to spend the $$ in a coffee shop. Which as we know is like 10-20X the cost of making @ home! Love the podcast
Chiming in on the "I want to go to George's house and see all his coffee stuff" I totally agree with them that good coffee doesn't need to be doctored. I will occasionally put a bit of sugar in some of the flavoured ones as it brings out the flavour. The way I see it is that you might as well spend extra on good coffee and equipment at home than Starbucks any day. Even when I was still working and driving, stopping at the local coffee shop seemed like too much work to me. Great show today, thanks
This is my FAVORITE podcast! I’m learning so much and y’all are extremely entertaining! It’s a great length of time and the content is always engaging. Y’all’s banter back and forth, along with your production team laughing in the background is the best! Also, I’m a huge “expresso” fan and am wondering why George has multiple French presses? 🤭
This is the way. I bought an espresso machine two years ago, and not only has it paid for itself but the drinks I make at home taste better and are way more consistent. No more watery espresso drinks.
Love love LOVE the show & especially this episode. Self proclaimed coffee snob here. Rachel, you should buy Winston a coffee roaster for home roasting. He'd be all about it!! Brazil's Sweet Blue coffee beans are my favorite. We buy $300 of green coffee beans & they last almost a year. Talk about saving on coffee by making it at home & you can't beat the taste of fresh roasted.
I work in the paint industry and go to Sherwin Williams stores often and the free Keurig coffee in the morning hits so good. 😅 They even give selection of coffee and creamers. The customer service is unreal
We have a Breville espresso machine and we buy beans from our local coffee shop and it’s still cheaper than going to Starbucks everyday! I think it is totally worth it to invest and save up for a nicer home setup. ❤
Once a year I buy 45lbs of single-origin green coffee from Guatemala for $290 and roast it myself, as needed, with a used Gene Cafe roaster I got for $300. Like-new Breville Touch for $600 from E-bay. With 6-8oz of milk and 2 oz heavy cream, I make myself a 14oz latté with a double shot espresso, for about $0.50. Blows Starbucks and Caribou out of the water for taste too. My wife and I also bring each other lattes in the morning! So blessed!
One of the best purchases my husband (non coffee lover) and I made was on a super-automatic espresso machine with my last paycheck (before becoming a SAHM). I have learned to make amazing drinks, got all the milk choices available and get the organic coffee beans from Costco or Aldi (organic is fresher, better roast, less oily beans) all for around $1 a serving. I have now officially ruined my husband’s coffee break at the office because they have a keurig machine 🤣🤣 Great episode! Love this show!
Love you guys so much! 😂 My husband has an Aero Press and is a coffee snob. I don't drink coffee but I always correct people when they say "expresso" instead of "espresso"! Drives me nuts 😂
Hilarious episode! I am Keurig just because my husband likes coffee. I can’t even finish a whole cup in the morning as I feel it just serves a function… Or is just a habit…not really sure. Not even that big of a fan of the taste of coffee actually. That said, I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this episode!
I like my home brewed coffee the best. Occasionally a restaurant will have great coffee. I decided to cut back on coffee the easy way. I started blending caffeine free coffee with regular coffee and increased the decaf % until it was 100% decaf. Now I drink it occasionally. I love coffee with sugar, honey and lots of half and half creamer.
This is what he says in the full episode! “Grande almond honey latte with half the pumps, blonde espresso ristretto four shots with oat milk and sugar crumbles on top” 😮😂
I rarely get coffee at starbucks because what I have at home is a lot better. The last three times I went to starbucks all I wanted was a plain cup of coffee. It was old and it was lukewarm at best and it was overpriced. At home I fresh grind the kirkland french roast coffee beans ( Which come from Starbucks). It is much better and a lot less expensive.
I remember having 4 32-oz cups of coffee in one day before because of college midterms... That is when I quit coffee for 3 months because I realized I was way too dependent on it. I do enjoy a good cup of coffee once in a while now but will usually have one cup of coffee every couple of months. Working on getting rid of iced tea again since I drink a McDonald's 32-oz almost daily of that.
I don't drink coffee, and I've always wondered a lot about when I've gone to doctor offices, CA, TX, ID, FL (just a few), the questionaire I get has only a few questions and it is always, 1. Do you smoke or chew tobacco? 2. Do you consume alcohol on a weekly basis? 3. Do you drink coffee? 4. Do you drink black tea? I do drink energy drinks, which I need to cut back on, but I've also wondered that a lot where Doctor offices for Physicals or just visits of other concerns that I've gone to have always had those questions. I understand everyone is very different, but I've always been told it is better to not drink it for your health vs. drinking it.
I feel you George. I have a friend that says quinoa wrong, she says "quinwan". Then my husband and father in law say "irregardless" instead of "regardless". Drives me nutsss! 😩🙄lol
Rachel! My husband bring me coffee in bed in the mornings too! (Even though he is a non-coffee person) 🥰 Goerge, it's a black cup of coffee made with Kirkland beans, ground at home, brewed in french press. 😄
I can't stand to drink coffee, and I watched and enjoyed every minute of this episode! Laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. So, George, is Expresso a word? 😆
Notable George quotes: "I'm not trying to watch sports by accident." -12:37. "Is any of this interesting to you?... We're gonna move on." -23:59 "I can't think of a day when I didn't do that." - 30:12 "A part of me dies inside... An angel loses its wings... A puppy's tail stops wagging... Every time you say expresso" - 32:46 "If you're a true American you will say espresso in the review, that's how I feel, and we would thank you a latte." - 33:39
I have a personal vendetta against coffee, it seems. My mother's side of the family is Finnish, so I grew up watching her and my aunts drink cups and cups and cups... but when I was a baby, she accidently spilled a cup of scalding hot coffee while she was holding me and I was scarred on my inner thighs for the longest time (it's VERY faded now). I love the smell of coffee, I heart Coffee Crisp, and I enjoy an iced coffee maybe once a year... but it's really not my thing.
I was addicted to caffeine for about 3 years. Besides the health costs, it was very expensive. I was drink 600-1200mg of caffeine a day (2-4 reigns) which cost me roughly $200 a month. Once I realized how expensive my habits were it made it easier to quit. Haven’t looked back. The migraines are gone, my sleep is better, and I don’t feel depressed nearly as much.
If you stop drinking it, deal with the headaches, etc. It does quickly get to the point where you don’t need it. The problem comes when you get a night or two of garbage sleep then it creeps back in… Also for those who need to here it: Porsche is pronounced Por-sha, not Porsh.
The $9.99 Large ground Classic roast from the local grocery store will last me two to weeks. It is a rare morning for me to not drink at least one cup of coffee by 9AM. Not addicted but a definite part of my morning routine.
Yes it is. I recently cut it off and set one specific day a week to go buy a nice coffee. As a former barista, the struggle is real. Especially living in a region who prices great coffee (PNW).
we use to go to starbucks everyday & now we stopped going & have so much money. once you haven’t had it in a while, it’s not as good. 😅 i can make it better at home.
George is quickly becoming my favorite person due to this podcast. Before he sounded like a robot to me but he has so much personality.
If you love him so much why don’t you marry him 😂🤪🤪🤪🤪
@@MooMoo69556 cux hes taken...sadly lol

Smart!
Rachel mispronouncing espresso on purpose to get a reaction out of George is such a sibling thing to do 😂
I'd love to hear how she pronounces "Italian!" Is she of the "eye-talian" troop or the correct pronunciation of "it-alian"?! 😂
As a former barista with a manual espresso machine, manual grinder, French press, and Aeropress, George is my spirit animal.
Which one is best?
I’d love to see George’s coffee set up at home and how he preps his coffee 😅
Coffee at home tastes better than the coffee beans they burn at Starbucks
George, and Graham Stephan. ☕
9:56 Rachel: “I can’t tell the difference” (good quality coffee vs Keurig)
George: “That’s honest, and that’s the most I can ask of you today since I can’t get class”
Everyone: bursts out in laughter
That clip had me rolling lol 😆
Ok, here's my review: You guys are so much fun! But whether you are saying expresso or espresso it sounds the same, much like Rachel's coffee tastes!
Sometimes I don’t agree with their opinions but I think George is hilarious. Like he actually has really good comedic timing & I enjoy watching this podcast 😊
Honestly though, Rachel living her anti coffee snob life is really the winner here😂 she can enjoy a cheap coffee anywhere!
I'm the same way. I can drink hospital coffee, while all my co workers raise their nose to it lol
You haven't lived until you've had Navy shipboard coffee!
Same, the way he was snobbing over Keurig, like bro... not everyone can justify $6 Nitro cold brew daily
George clearly was waiting to give out his coffee setup, we need a mtv cribs episode to show his collection
Lol this was peak George! I love his dry humor and he is definitely right in his coffee choices
Not a coffee snob, but absolutely love listening to people talk about topics they are passionate about. ❤
Guys thanks so much for choosing the Thursday morning release. All my other podcasts come out Friday-Sunday so this really is the “happy hour” to kick off my weekend!
I like my coffee minimalist - no coffee beans, no boiling, no cream, no sugar, no caffeine, no mug. I take it room temp, clear, in a glass.

Nespresso changed my life. I haven’t been back to Starbucks in 6 months. I have the Nespresso duo with Ninja coffee grounds maker.
I will say the latte I had at Ramsey solutions when I visited the show was one of the best coffees I’ve had! I still think about it.
George’s recipe I bet 😂

Now I want to see reaction videos to Dave watching this show every week. 😂
He'd probably laugh at it. I'd love to see him sitting where that lady is sometimes.
That seriously would be epic!!! 🤣🤣🤣
I’m definitely in the pour over phase. I now have a burr grinder, a Chemex, and a scale !
That's just dilute yerba mate because normally you use at least several tablespoons, and it always has more caffeine than a similar amount of coffee
No keurig for me either!! I’m a French press girl. And if I go to a coffee shop, NITRO COLD BREW all the way!!
This is such a great show, what a fun crew
I 100% agree with everything George says in this episode!!!
I’m with George on the flavor of black coffee ranges greatly! You can have bad coffee for sure
Another great SMHH! Y'all are cracking me up, thanks for doing these topics and keep up the AWESOME work!
Grinding your own beans with an affordable grinder is so much better
I can't stand to drink coffee, and I watched and enjoyed every minute of this episode! Laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. So, George, is Expresso a word? 😆
What was the 20/20 show that you referenced for the hotel coffee pods?
Notable George quotes:
"I'm not trying to watch sports by accident." -12:37.
"Is any of this interesting to you?... We're gonna move on." -23:59
"I can't think of a day when I didn't do that." - 30:12
"A part of me dies inside... An angel loses its wings... A puppy's tail stops wagging... Every time you say expresso" - 32:46
"If you're a true American you will say espresso in the review, that's how I feel, and we would thank you a latte." - 33:39
It is always so interesting to see people talk about coffee! People get so addicted haha
I am glad I can’t drink it! Haha
Pro tip: Red Thunder at Aldi is just like Red Bull and like 1/3 of the price. They also have a White Monster knock off that is cheap as well.
I subscribed because this is the second time I've watched and laughed out loud. I dislike coffee and Expresso!! but love you 2 together!!!!
If you stop drinking it, deal with the headaches, etc. It does quickly get to the point where you don’t need it.
The problem comes when you get a night or two of garbage sleep then it creeps back in…
Also for those who need to here it:
Porsche is pronounced Por-sha, not Porsh.
The $9.99 Large ground Classic roast from the local grocery store will last me two to weeks. It is a rare morning for me to not drink at least one cup of coffee by 9AM. Not addicted but a definite part of my morning routine.
It is impossible to go through med school and residency without caffeine, I am almost certain 😂
Then I shouldn't have to educate you about the added sugar, fat, corn syrup...
@@tdgdbs1 another win for black coffee
@PDB Long true but you have no idea how they drink it! Starbucks to me isn't even coffee with all the junk they mix in..
Actually, they recommend not drinking coffee during med school because it drains your energy later on
Yes it is.
I recently cut it off and set one specific day a week to go buy a nice coffee.
As a former barista, the struggle is real. Especially living in a region who prices great coffee (PNW).
Ooof that's rough
In time you won’t even care about going once a week.
I’m with George! Love the blonde espresso and the one pump of classic!
The only coffee I drink is the free coffee I get at work 😂
Didn't start consuming caffeine/coffee until i had kids- i was about 26
My husband and i really enjoyed your show. How do you get to the show notes for the drink recipes ?
EXPRESSO!!! The roast of Rachel episode was hilarious. Thanks for a great episode!.
Adding up my energy drink addiction is how I ended up drinking the Ramsey Kool-Aid. I was spending 200-300/month on energy drinks.
we use to go to starbucks everyday & now we stopped going & have so much money. once you haven’t had it in a while, it’s not as good. 😅 i can make it better at home.
1000% agreed!
