The reason the town is so empty is that Muslims believe in the words of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The place you visited, with its amazing architecture, was once the dwelling of the people of Thamud during the time of Prophet Salih (AS). These people, mentioned in the Qur'an, were destroyed by Allah for their disobedience and rejection of Prophet Salih (AS). The Thamud carved homes into mountains and were renowned for their architectural prowess. Lastly, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: "Do not enter the dwellings of those who wronged themselves unless you are weeping, lest you be afflicted by what befell them." - (Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)
It is a claim. Not certain proof. This assumption is neither authenticated by Prophet Muhammad nor Allah. If we follow this hadith then every place should be forbidden because they were inhabited by pagans and even Mecca where pagans once lived.
As with any global destination, meticulous trip planning is essential for travel to Saudi Arabia. The temperature range varies by region; some areas experience cooler temperatures from November to mid-May. Unlike Jeddah, for example, the weather is pleasant from late December to February.
