This is so beautiful. There are defiantly more historical location and a sense of culture and diversity in Saudi Arabia compared to other countries I’ve been to in the region. The media only focus on the two holy cities of Mecca and Madina forgetting that this country has a lot to see.
I am so glad they opened tourism recently into the country.

Hey Chris, thanks for the vlog. Know that Saudis usually do not hang out in the afternoon and hot times. They got fed up of it as people unlike you, you can take the heat of a day or two. Hanging out at noon or afternoon seems weird to Saudis but they are very active at night which might not seems logical to you based on what you lived in your home country. The same things to Saudis when they go to your land, it doesn't make sense to them that shops close at 6PM.

The reason the town is so empty is that Muslims believe in the words of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The place you visited, with its amazing architecture, was once the dwelling of the people of Thamud during the time of Prophet Salih (AS). These people, mentioned in the Qur'an, were destroyed by Allah for their disobedience and rejection of Prophet Salih (AS). The Thamud carved homes into mountains and were renowned for their architectural prowess.
    Lastly, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
"Do not enter the dwellings of those who wronged themselves unless you are weeping, lest you be afflicted by what befell them."
    - (Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)

It is a claim. Not certain proof. This assumption is neither authenticated by Prophet Muhammad nor Allah. If we follow this hadith then every place should be forbidden because they were inhabited by pagans and even Mecca where pagans once lived.

I think what people are referring to in comments is that some places which had sinful history such as Pompeii in Italy where people were like sodom and such as Madain Saleh was a place where it’s people got destroyed by God because they were pagans probably, Muslims have a story in the Quran about prophet Saleh and his nation, and throughout years it was accepted that Madain Saleh was the place the prophet Saleh lived and his nation was destroyed by God because they refused to follow their prophet and they killed the huge camel that was sent to them as a miracle from God, historians some of them think it’s Madain Saleh near Al-Ula and so because of that Muslims follow the sunnah of prophet Mohammed to not tour the places that were the place of “God wrath” was upon it’s people in history that God sent a punishment on them similar to Sodom

Al-Ula is so deserted because it’s a cursed and forbidden area! Al Ula was neglected for centuries. Despite efforts to promote it as a tourist attraction, it is considered a cursed place. The Saudi prince disobeyed the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by building a tourism destination there. The area was cursed to destroy the Thalmuds for their cruelty and idol worshipping.

This is a cursed city please do research before visiting such places. We as Muslims have been advised not to visit this area, however I am also surprised to see Saudi disregard the prophets suggesting to stay away from here and yet they have turned this in to a tourist attraction 🤦🏽‍♂️
