The subtle bloom coming from that Moment filter is unmatched, i like how it retains the backlight detail without the smudge while the rest fail to hold up.
Thanks! This comparison helped a lot. I think I'll go with the black pro mist 1/4 for more of an artistic effect, but more controlled than the K&F concept
great video man - the blind test is a great idea - I like the tiffen 1/4 and 1/8 - but good work reviewing the cases too - that is a real consideration - I wouldn't feel comfortable just chucking the tiffen in its case in my bag to bump around..
Great video, very useful information, and I was very impressed by your colour grade- you clearly know what you're doing. I've always loved the Moment Cinebloom 10%, it has a special place in my heart. 🤍🤍Love your production quality!
Great video! When you shoot with BPM, do you see a lot of internal reflections, especially when shooting directly at light sources? Any tips to minimise it?
Great video man super helpful and thoroughly done! I use the Cineblooms but honestly I never knew how much contrast I was missing from using them until seeing these comparisons. I would definitely still use them for specific shots where I really wanted the blooming to bleed into the shadows but I think your video has pushed me to consider the BPM 1/8 for more everyday use. Both def have their use case depending on the style 💯
Still watching - and enjoying - but it should be noted the current mania over the Fujifilm X100V has impacted supplies of the Moment Cinebloom 10% filters in a 49mm size. They are back-ordered everywhere, including the Moment site.
Great video and very helpful! I'm trying to decide between BPM 1/8, Cinebloom 10%, and Glimmerglass 1... Have you had a chance to try the Glimmerglass? If so I would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks!
Did you end up getting any? I have all three of those in case you have any questions. Happy to send some test shots too. I even have Tiffen Pearlescent filters in 1/8 and 1/2.
I should add that I own a TBPM 1/8 and a 1 (crazy i know). I also have a Tiffen Soft Fx 2 (amazing in the right conditions). I own a 1/4 of the K&F although I hardly use it. I'm interested in the Glimmerglass by Tiffen. As you can tell i'm really into these filters. The TBPM 1/8 is wonderful for everyday use in most conditions.
Great video man! For a zoom lens what filter grade do you recommend? BPM 1/8 or 1/4? I need some advice on those filters or if I should try others. The purpose is for travel photography, in this case, is to shoot in the Moroccan desert. I need a filter that could make a middle glow and lower contrast but at the same time doesn’t lose details. Any advices?
Personally I would go with Cinebloom 20% and a Black Pro Mist 1/8. Cinebloom and Black Pro Mist are different filters, as the Cinebloom isn't actually a BPM. I think it's just a Pro Mist, which doesn't blow out light as much but rather softens the image. So if I were in your shoes I would have ND filters (Variable ND as long as it doesn't do the X), Polarizer, Cinebloom 20%, and a Black Pro Mist 1/8. I'd also consider a UV being in the desert.
Thank you for you video ☺ Could you please tell which diameter of ND(VND) I need to put ON 77mm black mist filter (tiffed or k&f) ? Is it the same 77mm? Or I need to choose bigger diameter size ND, so it fits ON black mist filter? and hello from Ukraine✨
I get a nasty reflection flare when I use the 1/8th black pro mist with my Canon C300 Mark 2. I noticed you don't seem to get a flare with your Tiffen. Do you have an idea of why I would be getting horrible lens flares with mine?
I'm not sure as I've just recently uploaded a better and more in depth test on the filter and a few more but still didn't really get that glare. Could it be to do with your lens?
@@JusttJC It might be. I'm running a canon l series 24-105mm lens 4.0, along with a 24-70mm 28. It happens really bad on both lenses with any practical or direct light source in the shot. Looks like a green ghosting double image of the direct light source. As though it's reflecting off the lens into the back of the filter, where the camera then records it as I'm shooting. I'm super bummed out because I would love to utilize the filter but seem to no be able to.
@@TillThenPlease are you still using the lens hood on your 24-105L? I own the same lens and am looking to make a filter purchase as well. I’m night street lots of led and neon. Now you’ve got me concerned ? I was org going to go with the 85 and step it to the 72 of the lens wondering if that may be worse. Are you using a 72mm filter or also stepping it up ?
I appreciate the video but the choice of shots for this comparison was less helpful to me as it was difficult to resolve the smaller differences on my phone. I might check it again on my TV at home but something to keep in mind is that I’m pretty sure most people watch TH-cam on mobile devices. Keep it up though, I like your style and process. One other thing that would be helpful to know is if there is much light transmission loss with these filters. TIA!
can I stack the cinebloom with a k&f nd filter and is that a good thing? im using a ricoh gr3x and I heard it keeps off dust from the sensor and I dont like removing things too much back and forth
Dont use any mist or diffusion filters on darker skin tones. They are designed to shape light and that never bodes well with darker skin tones. Diffuse the light source, not the lens when it comes to darker skin tones.
I've seen a lot of people say that the K&F mist filters are on the stronger side, and that the 1/4 is more comparable to a Tiffen 1/2. Perhaps that's why in this video the K&F seemed a bit ridiculous compared to the others. I think a fairer comparison would be K&F 1/8 vs Tiffen 1/4. And yet, I've not seen a single video on this crucial comparison. If you'd be able to to do one I think that'd be awesome! There's tonnes of videos on the K&F 1/4 but hardly any on the 1/8 (and I've no idea why)!
That might be due to the effect being very subtle, barely noticable. I just bought it, there's barely any blooming, no light leaks, no loss of contrast. Just a slightly less sharp image with point lightsources being maybe a hair softer in extreme conditions. For city night shots it might be cool, it definitly wont be too much... I might return it as i noticed the lack of sharpness more than the effect itself, which rendered the filter kinda pointless.
@@rabagastproductions2726 Hmm are you UK based? I was thinking about returning too, but you have to pay for shipping to China which I imagine is quite expensive.

I like cinebloom for specific uses for the hotspot bloom. very well controlled for very specific occasions. as a general diffusion filter pro mist
Yeah I'm the same man!
Great video man super helpful and thoroughly done!

Appreciate the comment! Yeah I was the exact same from first getting the cinebloom!
but adding contrast in post is better than fading it afterwards...

Nice man! I'm interested in that glimmerglass as well actually. Always looking for more things to enhance the look!
Great video! I'll be going with the BPM 1/4.
Glad it helped!
Honestly bro this is insanely great content while only having 903 subs haha you'll blow up bro for sure!
Thank you man! Appreciate it
The cinebloom 20% is super nice.
And the BPM 1/4 does a really nice thing.
Yeah I agree man!
I personally prefer the k&f concept 1/4
Great vid, keep it up
Thank you 🙏🏾
Excellent comparison!!! Thank you!
Great video bro! I thought I wanted the cinebloom but after this vid I'm leaning more toward the tiffin 1/4...tough decisions lol
Is it normal to have excessive lens flare with this filter? Gloom is ok but the lens flare are so overwhelming compared to without.
I know you meant “bloom” but when I saw “gloom”, it made me think of Tears of the Kingdom.

and hello from Ukraine✨
Another fantastic video, thanks for putting this together.
would be keen to see you add black satin and glimmmer glass to this test.
well keep your eyes peeled for a video early next week😉
Very nice work man!! Invaluable!! 👍💪
Thank you for a really well thought out and well produced video.
Thank you! I appreciate the comment
Where is your sweater from. I love thos teddy style. Looks insane soft.
New look I believe, my girl got it for me
How strong is the 20% cinebloom compared to 10%? I am not sure which one I should buy?
I just recently bought a 1/2 and 1/4 pro mist filter by Walkingway. But the images from bloom and tiffen, surpurbur.
What camara are using for this video ?
Sony FX3 + Sigma 35mm f/1.4!
Such a good video man! I think imma get the moment ones
Appreciate it man! Can't go wrong with the Moment man, I love the look it gives
Love the video. Thank you for that. I’m on the hunt right now for a good diffusion filter. This is super helpful.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the comment

Do you have any primes? I wonder if it’s to do with the zoom lenses and the moving glass that causes it

Perfect. Thank you
Great comparison video bro! I recently got the Tiffen BPM 1/4 and 1/8 for a feature film we begin shooting next week. Also just subscribed!
I appreciate you man! Hope it all goes well!💪🏾
Which filter do you find yourself using the most on the feature film?
It really depends on what i’m shooting, but for all my personal stuff, the cinebloom is what i gravitate you
Comprehensive and thorough video! 👏👏👏
Thank you!

what do you mean a good thing? do whatever you want for the look you desire. nothing is bad.
great vid bro! I’ll most like go with the moment cinebloom and i love the coat!
yeah that’s my go to as well now! appreciate it bro!
do any of them have an external filter thread to stack nd on top?
Yes all of them do!
Love the quality and presentation style! What font did you write "NO FILTER" at 5:41?
Nice video man. Subscribed
Great video mate, definitely helped me make my decision!
Glad it helped!!
Chart at 5:00 shows no 4x4 or 4x5.25 for K&F which is incorrect.
They have it. In 1/8 and 1/4 and 1/2 and I even think in 1. Be it 100x150
Correction: Be it 100x100
At the time when I had looked it up, I didn’t see one that was available
Really nice content. You deserve way more subs! Keep up the great work.
