    Which filter look did you like the best? Personally I really Enjoyed the Tiffen Pro Mist 1/8.

    really very helpful as you shown all the possible lighting conditions in a single video,.. which is rare in one single video.. thanks for making this one.

      You're welcome glad you liked it. I tried to make the video as I would want to see it. Good to hear it was informative. I've got some new filter comparison videos on the way. :)

    Thank you! This is a really helpful comparison of the Nisi filters against Tiffen.
    I much prefer the subtlety of the Tiffen 1/8th. For my taste it provides just the right amount of softness while maintaining contrast and detail. 👍

      Glad it was helpful! I totally agree. The NiSi 1/8th is just a little too strong for my liking. The Tiffen 1/8th hits just right if you want to subtle softness. I appreciate the comment.

    Didn't expect the Nisi to be that strong. Too strong right out the gate at 1/8.

    • @vaskoobscura_
      @vaskoobscura_  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. The Nisi 1/8 is way too strong for a 1/8th filter. It's closer to a 1/2 strength. Thanks for the comment.

    Thanks mate ! To me, the Nisi 1/8 is the best

    Thanks, you've just saved me some money! Wouldn't expect Nisi 1/8 to be so strong.

      You're welcome. That NiSi 1/8 is just a little too potent for me they should come out with a 1/16th filter that has less kick. Appreciate the comment.

    Hi! I was just wondering why you chose to compare Nisi Black Mist vs Tiffen Pro Mist and not Tiffen Black Pro Mist.

    • @vaskoobscura_
      @vaskoobscura_  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Simple answer to that is those Tiffen filters at 82mm are expensive so I just used what I had in my kit to compare the NiSi filters. One day maybe i'll have a full collection of Tiffen BPM filters but till then I gotta use what I got. Thanks for the comment.

    The falloff from the Nisi filters feels more pleasing to my eyes, however having the ability to opt for a more subtle effect makes choosing Nisi over Tiffen pretty difficult. Decisions decisions! 😆

      The good news is we can always mix and match filter brands to build a set that suits our visual style :) Neewer makes some mist filters at a really affordable price. I want to test those out and see how they look.

    Is it possible to stack different circular filters ? Like an ND + a polarizer + a diffusion filter

    • @vaskoobscura_
      @vaskoobscura_  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh absolutely. I stack filters all the time to create different effects. I often stack a VND and a diffusion filter for my video work. You can also stack ND filters to cut the amount of light coming into your camera. The only advice I'll give you is when you stack your filters don't screw them down super tight if you shoot out in the sun the metal can expand and it becomes hard to unscrew the filters.

    • @maximeromieu
      @maximeromieu ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vaskoobscura_ Oh thank you so much for your reply !! Do you know if I can stack them even if they are not from the same brand ?

    I just purchased the NISI Variable ND Swift System. Do you know if they have thread from the front to place the Tiffen Mist Filters? I have 1/8 Tiffen and not sure if it's worth returning it for the 1/8 NISI Swift System if I can attach the Tiffen to the VND from Nisi. I also dont know if its meant to be MIst then NVD or vise versa.

    • @vaskoobscura_
      @vaskoobscura_  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can attach the Tiffen filter behind the VND. I do that a lot in my work. The NiSi 1/8 and Tiffen 1/8 are not the same strength. The NiSi 1/8 is closer to a Tiffen 1/4 so it's a stop stronger.

    can I screw on the Tiffen black pro mist filter to NISI VND filter? I prefer to get these two filters but I want to be able to use them together . thanks

    • @vaskoobscura_
      @vaskoobscura_  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can. I often stack my Tiffen Pro Mist with my NiSi VND. As long as the filter thread sizes are the same they can be screwed together. And if they are different sizes you can always use a step up ring to attach a larger filter onto a smaller thread size.

    Why is the video so overexposed

    • @vaskoobscura_
      @vaskoobscura_  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the halation caused by the filters that overexposes the image. It creates a glow around bright areas of the image. I was demonstrating that in the video.

  • @ilaion11
    @ilaion11 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I do not like the handheld video. It's so annoying. Also the animation of text and layers on top of the video image is sooo f annoying, not to mention those noises. What's this, a low budget sci-fi movie?

    thank you very much - perhaps the best and most comprehensive comparison between the classic market leader and the new kid on the block: if only the tiffin ⅛ would have coating, it would be my 1. choice... so, because I mostly shoot in daylight, my choice ist the .. K&F Nano coated ⅛. ;👍👍👍-)

    • @vaskoobscura_

      I've seen that K&F Nano Coated filter. I was thinking of picking one up to do some comparison videos with. If you're saying it's good than I'll pick one up for some video testing. Thanks for the heads up.
