I learned so much from this video. I’ve painted it a couple times to learn more about blending the colors used & also to help my understanding of perspective & depth. Thank you for having this on your TH-cam channel.

That’s a lovely cheerful, sunlit painting and enjoyable tutorial. Your advice on colour didn’t surprise me. I’ve heard it said before and it’s true we sometimes get fixated and dependent on the artist's colours. I do anyway. I’ve learned to try out the behaviour of colours when mixed and what they give me, and have had many surprises. Thank you for sharing you experience.

Thank you Rick. Your detailed instruction of the "why", just not the "how" are so, so helpful. You have a wonderful talent for both your art and for your teaching. Can you give us some idea of how long the painting of this particular picture actually did take? There are so many "artists" on the web giving tutorials of the "fast" painting style and it makes me feel like a slow-poke if I take hours on a small, simple painting. I prefer working in more detail than some of the "speed painters", but maybe I am really slow. Thanks a bunch.

Thanks for your thoughtful comments Lorenzo! This painting took about 90 minutes to paint. I usually paint quarter sheets for my videos, sometimes a little smaller. On average they take 60 minutes to two hours. You should paint at the pace you're comfortable with.

I love this painting and would like to attempt it myself, but could you please post the sketch on your you tube reference page? I find them very helpful. Yours on the tutorial is so light, I can hardly see it. Thanks so much!

Hi Marilyn, I didn't generate a reference page for this particular video. I don't have the image of my sketch.

Rick, as we all know, a favorable " critique always more rewarding to receive than a negative from someone who " thinks " they are knowledgable. I need to " back off " from being a " judge " of artworks by a superior professional. EXample : the strong " focal point" in your lamp post composition overwhelms what is actually an entertaining visual. IS that your intended focal point ? Respectfully, " me " .
