I'm not turning down another chance to watch Space Jeremy Clarkson, even if this is a re-upload with the correct landing gear!
@Vanargand It was a regular landing gear, they forgot to use the new one.
@Vanargand The gear in the original video was just a couple standard landing legs, not the fancy levitating thingamabobbers (Patent Pending) that the ship released with.
Well, he did say it was "ahead of release". It was just a late redesign. 🤣

@Vanargand Yeah, you could tell just from videos of the ship that the landing legs just had a extended collision model past their visual model. Also from a in-universe perspective: You have hard landing gears for a reason, if your ship's power gets cut then you really don't want it crashing to the ground. This levitation thing is just added expense and impracticality for a gimmick obviously added as an afterthought late in design. Probably ordered by some execs at CNOU as a ploy to increase sales and distract from the open and unprotected cargo bay. But this is a video game, and it does look pretty cool XD

The Cybertruck? Are you blind? The Nomad was taken over almost one on one by the ASP Explorer from Elite Dangerous. The design was not CIG's own thoughts, just a copy of what has been around for years.

@@GeneticResearch Was not talking about the design. It was in reference to the easter egg where they put the two holes on the windscreen like the Cybertruck.
Also, of course it was a copy of the ASP, there have been devs that have said openly that the Nomad is a love letter to elite dangerous. Even the cockpit lighting is in orange just like Elite's default. They do stuff like this all the time.

The ASP Explorer was the most liked ship in the beginning of Elite Dangerous. I was one of them and thats one of the reasons why i like it in Star Citizen too.

@@laduzitv5019 th-cam.com/video/o2FNBi90l9Q/w-d-xo.html At that timestamp, in the original upload the landing gear was a standard old landing gear and not the hover ones the ship actually had (even in the earlier part of the original upload) and it was obviously rendered before they had completed the ship. I guess enough people noticed and weren't happy with it so they took it down, put the actual hover landing gears on, and re-uploaded it

I love the ship and the way it handles and flies, however I just cannot get past that WIDE OPEN CARGO BAY?

Meanwhile, the cargo falls out of the cargo hold. LoL
Star Citizen has long had a technology called GravPlating. It locks cargo in place on the cargo grids. They won't fall out or move at all regardless of the manoeuvres you pull.
@@ConradLarsonGaming You are correct, however there is a bug currently that is not keeping cargo in place on Nomads. Or at least that was the case earlier today when I was on.
This really is some of the best world building achieved in a video game in recent years.
please make this a full show in the future not just these short clips, that would be so awesome!

@@weldonwin the old video showed outdated landing gear at 02:19. And I'm not sure why people would complain about them making a better looking Asp (if you have to insist on comparing the two)
@@weldonwin And that Asp looks to be aesthetically ripping off old Cobra vehicles from back in the day including the name. Everything can be claimed to be influenced by many different things.
With all the gear exposed in the back of the ship, I'm not so sure about this one.

Open cargo hold? That's just silly. It's a spacecraft, why try so hard to be a pickup truck?
Because it was likely the refining ship with the collapsible refining module (concept from citizencon) which had the ship's engine on the module, but I speculate they changed their mind and removed the module and with it the engines in order to make it a hauler for the event.
Sooo... Jax had to go clone? :( Oof. Those holes in the cockpit window.

Just to be a bit meta, it's because ships have their own physics environments. Ships have their own gravity physics separate from other physics environments.

It’s a little unfortunate that the tour of Stanton will not be continuing to Crusader this year (due to heavy performance issues likely caused by the clouds) so it ultimately appears that the IAE is going to be “iced in” Microtech for another year

Well it SAYS "Consolidated Outland" but... it looks more like Lakon Spaceways to me. Looks like they took the Asp Explorer, scaled it down, and turned it into a space pickup truck.
The rear engines on the Nomad actually look hella small.. like slightly over sized thrusters.
I wonder if in time it'll have appropriate speed and handling to match the vastly undersized engines..

After 4 tentative in 2 days I can spawn the nomad and get out of aspire grand. But after few km, I'm out of hydro, landing the ship in the snow, and explode when I quit my seat. Ok I come back next month.

A serious problem for nomad, turn on the afterburn and hydrogen fuel drops like a count down, that shouldn't appeared on a space truck

Space pickup truck. Very useful when you want to load cargo and keep your ship closed up so people don't hijack you. There's been a lot of that with Xenothreat.
